Not very exciting considering you can get these free through the Best Rate Guarantee. I’ve recieved over 50 nights free so far, easy as pie with help from the various BRG lead sites.

  2. Leanne says:

david i appriciate if you share some tips with us

Basically every magor hotel site has a lowest rate guarantee, so if you find it anywhere else cheaper you get your room free, but theres a ton of loop holes and to me seems like way too much of a hassle.
    Heres the one from Marriott.

    Online Claim Form

Making a claim is easy with Marriott’s Look No Further® Best Rate Guarantee. Just follow these instructions, fill out this form, and click “submit.” For full details, please review the terms and conditions.

The Marriott rate and the “Comparison Rate” must be found, and a completed Claim Form submitted, within 24 hours and must be for the same hotel, room type and reservation dates.

The form indicates all the required information for your claim. You will need to provide Marriott at least one reservation booked through a Marriott Reservation Channel (our Worldwide Reservations Centers, a Marriott property, or an official Marriott Web site).

If you found a lower rate through a Marriott Reservations Channel, a travel agency, or a travel management company, you must reserve the second reservation before completing this form.

If you found your lower rate through a non-Marriott Internet site, you do not need to make a second reservation, but you will need to provide the Web address or screen shot where you saw the lower rate.

Marriott will contact you within 24 hours of submitting your claim.

    * Denotes required information

So to put it shorter the 8.88 is a good deal IMO

  6. Brad says:

It’s bogus, tried last night, I was put into a queue to wait to search my room, after 20 minutes I get a message saying all the sale rooms were gone

  7. Christy says:

I was on the site waiting right when it started. I entered in my request and now I’m waiting for it to tell me if I got a room or not. After 10 minutes of waiting for it to search it tells me they’re sold out 🙁

  8. Ray says:

Same thing happened to me as Brad although it only took 9 minutes for me. Has anyone actually gotten a room under this promotion?

  9. johnny b says:

This is a CROC!!! i was very very very fast in typing in the info and was queued many many many times only to find out that “it has been sold out for the night”!!! ya right super 8! Smells like BS to me!

If anyone has been successful in obtaining a hotel room could you please post so i know not to waste my time again! thanks

  10. Tracy says:

I have tried 2 nights in a row, right at 8pm, and within 10minutes, we got the notice it was sold out for the night. Still 3 more nights to try.

  11. dilbrt says:

I hit the refresh button until I could fill out the info (so RIGHT at 8:00), and no room for me either.

  12. Robbie says:

okay… well I got 2 rooms. I checked the location I wanted ahead of time to make sure there was availability ( North York, Ontario) and got the first room. I was then able to get back in and get a 2nd room in my hubby’s name for the next night.
    So it IS possible.

  14. Sally says:

It’s not a croc, its just very busy.

  15. David says:

Mariott only offers a discount on the room if you find it cheaper, only the Wyndham Hotel Chain and the Red Lion chain offer free rooms if you find a lower rate. If you think it is a “hassle” you obviously aren’t doing it right.

I basically go to the Best Rate Guarantee Blog, a site which newsfeeds new free hotel opportunities. It’s address is bestrateguarante.blogspot.com

From there, I follow the steps on how to book and file the claim form. It takes me 2 minutes to book the room at the higher rate, and then around another 3 minutes to type into the claim form and hit “submit”. If those steps are a “hassle” then I’d hate to hear what hard work is to you 😛

I’ve recieved 50 free rooms this year, to a lifetime total of around 300 since 2006.

I’ve never paid anything, not even tax, for the rooms – they were all completely free, and they didn’t even ask for my credit card when I checked in.

So, you can understand how a room for $8.88 isn’t too thrilling. I will try to get one, though, for areas where the Best Rate Guarantee blog has not listed free rooms in that I need. But overall, give it a try, it’s a much better deal than a meager $8.88.

  16. Sally says:

Well to assume it isnt ”thrilling” for others isnt very fair.
Im have better things to do then run around trying to get my room for free, and yes those steps are a hassle for me. I only stay in higher class hotels most of the time so your rooms wouldnt work for me sorry to say. Plus im not into taking advantage of companies, they do have employees that need to get paid.

To each there own i guess….

  17. David says:

To each their own did you mean?

You call them “my rooms”, but last I checked I don’t work for the Wyndham hotel group.

And as for getting “higher class” hotels, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts is one of the most elite chains in the country.

I don’t know why you are so defensive – all I was saying is that I can likely get the Super 8 for free (yes, $0.00) compared to the offer of $8.88. I’ll choose the former, thank you, but I won’t tell you what to do.

I don’t see what is wrong with sharing the fact that these rooms can be had for free with the masses – if you want to pay, all the power to you I suppose.

  18. Leanne says:

Its only $8.88…I would rather pay that then to go through all the hassle of the Best Rate Guarantee.

  19. Morzo says:

I don’t think its honest purposely going out to get these hotels free all the time either, they probably cringe everytime they see you.
With the economy these days i’d rather pay.
Not only that but these companies don’t have to offer the BRG and its people like you who get them to either discontinue the program and or change it eventually so theres so many conditions its practically impossible to use.

I think the 8.88 is a super promotion and id like to thank the original poster on the forum for finding it! Its a great deal!

  20. homeofhappycats says:

“With the economy these days i’d rather pay.”?
    What’s that supposed to mean?

  21. Cindy says:

Thanks to everyone for the tips. I will check out the site you suggested too David. Sounds pretty easy from what you say.
I’ve also been trying the 8.88 room and have gotten the same messages as everyone as well. Maybe tonight will be lucky 🙂

  22. trrifk says:

I appreciate David’s insight to getting a room for free. Sometimes where you need to travel the rooms are ridiculously priced, so this will come in handy. I agree I wouldn’t do it all the time, but the odd time to save hundred’s of dollars for a 1 night stay, I would definitely make use of this.
And no I don’t think this is a hassle.
    Thanks David!!

  23. Sally says:

It seems to be slowing down a bit, some users in the forum recd the rooms 🙂 They added some helpful hints as well 🙂

  24. Chr says:

    Thanks for the info David!

  25. Ray says:

So I was getting ready to try for a second time, the 888 promotion page said it wasn’t available yet and I was 5 minutes early so I thought okay. I opened another window and just did a regular search for rooms and when I began the search the 888 wait screen came up – so it looks like if you do a regular search shortly before the correct time (say, 4-5 minutes) even though the promotion page won’t let you do anything a regular search seems to get you in the queue early – maybe this is why so many of us have had trouble thus far.

    Still didn’t get a room.

  26. Tracy says:

We tried again, and still no luck.

  27. johnny b says:

    big croc big croc

  28. cindy p says:

I did get a room. Later sold out within 10 min. I will try for another nite. Worked good for me!

  29. trrifk says:

cindy p – which hotel/location were you successful in booking?
    thanks

  30. Sally says:

Ray thats exactly what happened to me tonight, so I guess the key is to start earlier.
I got through then was distracted and didnt fill out my info

  31. Nisha says:

David, I had been on the site u suggested…..sorry I seemed blank.

A step by step guide would be more helful……please.
