Do you have a local Target store? Shopping is about to get much cheaper as they will be price-matching nationally. While some Walmart stores have done this for a while, it has been on a per store basis and our forum members found some stores would change the rules weekly.
Full details and policy have not been released yet but many people have been told that they will be accepting online flyers and it is rumoured that they will also price-match online deals from Amazon and other online stores (great for those one day sales at Futureshop and Best Buy or Walmart’s deals that are cheaper online).
Walmart’s days of pricematching nationally may be numbered, CBC reported that they said this when asked about the Target policy change:
Walmart will be sticking to its local matching policy, said Alex Roberton, the company’s director of corporate affairs in Canada. “We’ll ad-match with online flyers from other local merchants and as well using their printed flyers. For online prices, you’ll need to bring it in on a mobile device, or print it out.” Local is a loose term and it’s up to each store to decide if the rival deal is local to that store.
Price matching at Target will start on Tuesday, hopefully a corporate policy will be released before that, click here to read the CBC news story.
Yay! This is exciting 🙂 I have a Target right across the street and they wouldn’t price match flyers from my phone before. Thanks!
Omg this is awesome!!! So incredibly excited!!!!
Awesome! Target will start getting a lot more shoppers!
The CBC article only mentions that Target will be price matching groceries nationally, not all items that they sell. It’s a nice gesture to attract price-conscious shoppers, but a small one.
small steps are better then none at all
