The Bay Flyer: Scratch & Save Event (up to 70%), No Taxes & Free HBC Points!

The Bay Scratch & Save Canada

Thanks columbiathorndale for posting about this The Bay deal in the Canadian Shopping Deals and Flyers section 😀

The Bay is running multiple promotions at once and combining them all together will end you with some hot bargians and deals!

The Bay Scratch & Save Event (up to 70%)

Scratch & save on almot everything at the Bay. Friday December 19th to Sunday December 21st, 2008. Plus all mattresses, appliances and electronics are on sale. At sratch and save events during checkout you get a scratch and save card which when scratched reveals a certain discount. Don’t expect to get 70% but you’ll always get at least 10%.

The Bay Save The Tax

Don’t pay taxes this weekend at The Bay stores! So you’re basically immediately getting a 13% discount (in Ontario… but varies in other provinces of course) on all purchases automatically on top of the Scratch and Save disount.

The Bay Free HBC Rewards Points

Earn 50,000 HBC Rewards points when you spend $40 or more before taxes at the Bay or Home Outfitters. Click here to print this HBC Rewards points coupon. I’m not sure if you can combine this coupon with the other 2 promos above but it is certainy worth a try 😉

The Bay Additional 10% Discount Using SPC Card

If you have a Student Price Card (SPC Card) you can also get an additional 10% discount although I have no idea if they would accept that in addition to all the promos above but it is also worth trying out!

I opted to buy a jacket without using the Scratch and Save discount, since the posted discount in the store was a better deal. The sales associate then refused to give me the no tax savings. I told her that they were two different promotions, but she kept insisting that they were together.

they wouldnt let me use my spc card, didnt get the chance to use the coupon for the extra points either, I only spent 20 dollars

Wow, such a long day shopping, but at least it was fun.

Would like to clarify things for some of you

    1) The Save the Tax (13% discount) is ONLY applied if you have a scatch-and-save discount. It IS posted at the bottom of the ad for the Save the Tax notices in the store

    2) SPC card is NOT allowed to be combined with this offer, but most cashiers will just put in 10% if they know are unsure, and don’t bother to call headdesk.

    3) Points coupon must be applied before they hit subtotal, or take it to the HBC rewards desk, usually upstairs.

    Enjoy 🙂

My wife and I found a great CK jacket for her at Oakridge and when we took it to the checkout, we were informed that it wasn’t part of the promotion (there wasn’t a sign on the rack in question, but we thought we’d check it anyway). My wife loved the jacket so much that I decided to purchase it anyway; just because we were cool about it and didn’t start doing what a good portion of people do in a situation like that, which is freak out and make a scene, the young lady at our checkout wound up giving us 40% off of the jacket – she specifically mentioned our attitude as the contributing factor. Sometimes it pays to just be friendly and keep on an even keel.

I was able to use my SPC card discount on top of the “Scratch and Save” and the “No Tax” discount. I just mentioned that the SPC card specifically states that The Bay discount inculdes “10% off regular and sale items” as written in the terms of the card. Its on the SPC website and the phamplet that they give out with the card if anyone is interested in showing proof. The cashier just ran it up as usual with 3 discounts written on the reciept (30%, 13%, 10%).

  7. Charlene says:
