In partnership with Pride Toronto, TIFF Canada is offering a free event called Higher Learning: Mya Taylor on Tangerine for post-secondary students! The event is today, June 10, 2016 at 12pm. Although you can no longer reserve tickets online, you can still head to the Steve & Rashmi Gupta Box Office at 350 King Street West and pick them up. Keep in mind that there is a limit of one ticket per person and you will need a valid student ID to get it.
After the screening of Tangerine, TIFF Canada is welcoming the star, Mya Taylor, for an onstage conversation. Here is the Tangerine synopsis: “Transgender sex worker Sin-Dee Rella (Kitana Kiki Rodriguez) and her best friend (Mya Taylor) traverse L.A. in search of Sin-Dee’s cheating boyfriend, in the breakout Sundance hit from director Sean Baker.”
