We interrupt your daily Canadian deals, for a sappy video…

With YouTube, you never know what to expect, but among a pile of rubble, you’ll find a gem; this, in my opinion, certainly is one of them. Not a word of it is in english, and when captioned the song itself doesn’t fit, but the story as told through the video is absolutely beautiful; touching and sad.

A subtitled version can be found HERE

Fortunately, for those who tear up near the end, you can run out to Shoppers Drug Mart and pick up Royale facial tissue* for only 59¢ 😉

*Royale Regular 2-Ply (140’s) or Ultra 3-Ply (96’s). Limit 4 per person. After limit, regular price: $1.19. Save until Friday, May 23rd.

Thanks MissScrooge….I watched the subtitled version, very pretty lyrics and the music is nice too! I missed the video coz I was reading the subtitles and thnk I missed the ‘jist’ of the whole thing..coz my eyes are completely dry….LoL.

I’ll watch it again without the subtitles and see if I leak…

Still no tears…hmmm…I hope there isn’t anything wrong with me..LoL.

Let me try and understand…he loves her so much that he gave her his eyes so she could see she made the zine cover?

The actual translated words don’t coincide with the video..unless I missed something…

    Glad you all enjoyed 🙂

Maybe I’m a sap, but when I first watched it, I cried. I stumbled upon it yesterday: the version without the subtitles and thought it was beautiful.

But like you, JeLLo, I got curious and wanted to know what the words were that were being sung – and when I found a subtitled version, I was shocked. You’re not missing anything hun, the lyrics don’t coincide with the story at all – it’s a shame.

As far as the story goes he gave it all up, not just his eyes but his passions (photography & the track) simply because he loved her.

So that’s what true love is … willing to give up our welfare for the welfare of the other person …

    not easy …

I remember watching this video off a mp3-rotation blog about four years ago as well. It wasn’t “teary-sad” per say; however, the message that one could give up everything they have for someone they love certainly makes you think if you would do the same. Or if someone else would do the same for you.

Hmmm, did he really give it all up because he loved her? If so, why did he walk away from her at the end? Shouldn’t that have been the moment that she fell into his arms? I did notice a ring on his wedding finger early in the video, so I just thought he donated his eyes out of guilt, not love. Still a great story!

  10. MissScrooge says:

You raise some very valid points Paula. Why did he walk away? Dramatic effect? Unaware she was there? To keep us guessing? But then, she knew he was there, so why didn’t *she* stop him? I can only imagine it be difficult for both to react in the right way. In her position, I’d feel pain, knowing he sacrificed so much for her, I think I’d have a hard time forgetting and feeling like I owed him the world. And him, regret, knowing his mistake caused them both pain, maybe even depression.

But y’know, your comments regarding him wearing a ring on his wedding finger really makes ya think, I hadn’t noticed at all until you mentioned. Maybe there’s more to the the story? Maybe the song does fit with the story afterall? Re-watching the vid, the scene where she pulls away from him in the rain makes ya wonder…

At first I thought the video was going to be sappy but I figured I’d watch it because of the Miss Scrooge introduced it. When I got to the end of the video I just started crying — kind of the same way the girl does when she realizes what happened — I hadn’t expected that ending at all.

As for the ring, many cultures wear the wedding ring on the right hand, so that may not have anything to do with the story… it could just be a ring. I seriously don’t think he would have donated his eyes if he was married (how would he explain that to his wife?) He’s clearly alone.
