McDonald’s Mondays: Will It Blend?

This video was embedded using the YouTuber plugin by Roy Tanck. Adobe Flash Player is required to view the video.

I LOVE the web show “Will it Blend?” In case you’re not familiar with the concept (and really, doesn’t the title say it all?) Will it Blend is an actual promotional video series for the Blendtec series of blenders. In it, they blend everything from tiki torches and garden hoses to chicken soup and iPods. There’s nothing a Blendtec can’t blend!

So when I noticed that they’d posted an episode in which they blend a Big Mac Extra Value Meal, I couldn’t help but take this opportunity to share the wonderful world of “Will It Blend?” with you.

You can check out all of their videos, as well as find links to buy their blenders, right here at willitblend.com.

McDonald’s Mondays: Wesley Willis was not a better musician than you

This video was embedded using the YouTuber plugin by Roy Tanck. Adobe Flash Player is required to view the video.

Most of you have probably never heard of Wesley Willis. I certainly hadn’t until today. Wesley Willis was an interesting individual — a diagnosed schizophrenic, Wesley became something of an internet sensation rather late in his short life with a string of literally thousands of short but catchy tunes showcasing his completely tone-deaf poetry-and-rhyme vocal skills. I didn’t realize it, but I was already quite familiar with one of his bigger tunes. “Rock and Roll McDonald’s” was featured briefly in the documentary Super Size Me, and ever since hearing it on my first viewing I’ve caught myself humming it from time to time.

Now, thanks to the glory of the interweb, I can share that catchy catchy tune with you. When it came to posting this, I had to choose between posting a live version of Wesley Willis performing it several months before his death or this mostly unwatchable piece of internet-animation. Since the song was what I really wanted to showcase and his live version was a little too mumbly-mouthed, I decided to stick with the animation. My apologies in advance for the low-quality and occasionally strange imagery.

Both the song and the video have a clear anti-McD’s agenda. I figure it’s a good way to balance out the fairness in our McDonald’s Mondays posts, seeing as most of them are just me rambling on about my love of scary clowns with hamburgers.

If you want to know a little more about Wesley Willis (and you should, it’s an interesting story) check out his entry on wikipedia.

Congratulations Jim Squires!

Congratulations on the birth of your baby girl!

Congratulations Jim Squires!

This new little Baby Girl so tiny small and neat
And especially magic makes your family complete
No words could ever relay or truly express
The wishes sent for you at this time of happiness
She′s shining an Angel with a tiny sweet nose
So completely made up ten fingers, ten toes
She′s laughter and teardrops so small and brand new
And amazingly angelic and she′s sent to bless you
She′s one special Baby the best of life′s treasure
And she′ll surely bless you loving family pleasure.

Here’s what Jim had to say on his blog:

Lot’s of new baby photos on my wife’s flickr if you’re into that sort of thing.

EDIT: We’ve actually decided against Virginia. She’s had the name for two days and it just didn’t seem to fit. Plus, people are already giving her annoying nicknames that we don’t approve of like “Ginny.” The official name (we’ve already written it on the Health Card app, so there’s no going back now) is Emily Jennifer Jane.

McDonald’s Mondays: The Ben Affleck Big Mac

ben_affleck_burger.jpg

I seriously think I may have found my new favorite blog. Celebrities Eating is, as the name would suggest, a blog about celebrities eating. They collect ever picture they can of A-list stars and starlets shoving their faces full of food, and who can blame them? It’s nice to know Nicole Richie, despite her blatant anorexia, can wolf down a twelve inch hot dog with the best of them.

This pic, from a post back in September 06, shows Ben Affleck wolfing down a Big Mac behind the wheel. Naughty naughty Mr. Affleck, you’ll get mayo all over your blouse.

The one thing that really freaks me out is how wide he can open his mouth. It’s like watching a snake eating a gopher.
