Tim Hortons Roll Up the Rim to Win 2008 started today 🙂 Time to start guzzling loads of coffee each day!
A blogger known as dawger started an interesting blog where he tracks his Roll Up the Rim winnings. I think it’s a fun idea so I’ve decided to compete with him. Let’s see who’s the luckier person 🙂
I’ll buy one drink each day and post a picture of the cup. Today I bought a double double medium coffee and I didn’t win anything. Neither did dawger so the score’s 0 – 0.

I’d like to see someone track the environmental damage this contest causes.
Did you know the coffee cups are NOT recyclable because of the treatments on the cup paper?

In 2008, this is a bad bad bad bad promotion that needs to be fixed.
ya I noticed they aren’t accepted in the blue bins at tim’s.
However, I love this contest, the disappointment is so much fun.
This is a neat idea.
Hey, Boo Radley… I look forward to the challenge!
Today, I ran some of the odds based on the regions that Tim Hortons have distributed the cups to see the variance, check out my blog by clicking my name above.
Oh, and I lost again today! 🙁
Boo…don’t thorw away those no winners. I heard at my local Country Style starting March 3 till 9th, all no winner tabs will get youa free medium coffee. Plus some free coupons if you submit these no winner tabs from Tims 🙂 They want business.
Hope this helps you and you win 🙂
I won a donut. haha
Exciting for my 4 year old!
Good Al, if thats the case, do I have a few dozen losers from a few years ago left behind in my drawers… I wonder if Country Style will take them if they’re a few years old.
We need a betting pool for RUTR bloggers.

It would also be interesting to see if anyone wins off of these “FREEBIES”!
why is country style taking tim’s garbage?
I WON A GARMIN GPS TODAY!!!!! I only get coffee once or twicw month and I WON!!! WOOO!
I think it should be called roll up the rim to lose.
I’ve yet to win anything. I drink coffee at Tim Hortons everyday. 🙁
I drink 3-4 a day – larges too, not even a cookie
tim’s coffee is like dessert to me, I’m immune to it caffine content is too low, LOL
When the contest started i got my 1st cup, won a coffee, got another cup won a coffee got the 3rd won a coffee, 4th won a coffee, 5th won a chance to play again! winning streak is over..Heres my question; my husband an i are curious to find out if anyone won one of the bigger prizes, even the gps what kind of difficulty do they put you through in order to get your prize?
My good friend just won the Garmin GPS unit, I was pretty shocked. He said he just brought it to the local Tims and they gave him the forms to fill out. He never complained about filling out the forms, I haven’t seen the forms but I guess they aren’t that bad.
I’ll wait until he sends out the forms and receives the actual GPS unit, then I’ll get back to you guys about how long it took.
For me, I’ve had no luck so far, 4 coffees bought.
Has anyone heard that if you rip off the winning RIM, that you cannot claim the prize? That it has to be attached to the cup to claim the prize??
has anybody actaully know a big winner “car”
I think that people should bring their “Please Play Again” rims in and tell the person working at the counter that you have a chance to play again. Does it say on the cup that we are not allowed to do this?
Do I have a point? 🙂
Chances are 1 in 9. so just buy 9 a day, and if you don’t win, well, then Tim Hortons has a problem. 😉
Don’t lie Tim!
I rolled up a blank cup today. I think i should deserve to win something. What are the odds of getting a blank cup.
hello i win 50$$ gift card on fev 08
k i am so pissed off at this roll up the rim to win. i bought like 123 coffes in the whole time thr winning thing gas been goin on and all i won was coffee!!!!!!!! i really wanna win a boat or a car. does any1 know any ways i can get free cups? cause i wasted enought money
lol
Man I go to timmies like 3 times a day all I have won the hole time roll up the rim was on was 3 coffees and 1 doughnut im not lucky.
It should be called Lift up the Lid to Loose!
Bought a cup today, just like I do every morning. When I went to roll it up there was a little crack on the lip of the cup, and I was able to roll it up way too easy. “Please Play Again” it said. Usually I need my teeth to roll it up.
Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else.
Roll up the rim and Please Play Again
I’ve work at tim hortons for 8 years and every year we get the same complaints. the odds sre 1 in 9 meaning every ninth cup in a sleeve is a winner. If you want to win everytime you would have to buy nine coffees everytime you come in.
And nobody at tim hortons is rolling up the rims before they give you your coffee. We work there we’re sick of the coffee and donuts.
It’s only a contest and people go crazy over it every year.
What I do once in a while is that I rip off a “Play it again” Go through the drive through, Order my Large Double Double give them my play it again cup and by the time they find out its a “losing cup” I am long gone with a free coffee and another chance to win a prize.
Its not honest I know but Tim Hortons makes Millions off of us a year. Its nothing to them.
When you claim your free coffee they wont give it to you in a “Roll up the rim to win” cup so what I do is go to the drive through and not advise them that its a “free coffee” (like you are suppose to do before hand). Once I get to the window I will give them my winning cup and get my free coffee in a another “Roll up the rim to win” cup. They will sometimes bitch at me saying “you have to tell us first”. I usualy reply “Im sorry I didnt know”.
Works every time.
Nothing to them?? It matters to the independent OWNER that you just ripped off. So you are basically saying that anyone that works hard and makes a decent living should be able to be ripped off by the likes of you? Theft is theft buddie and we folks in the drive thru have to explain your stupid actions. Grow up!
Geez What are you talking about Karen?
Ive worked at Tim Hortons and thats how I found out that people can do that. We use to get the odd “last years cup” and we use to take it as a loss. I never had to pay anything and the Owner either.
I use to even gave donuts to friends becuase they were going to throw them out either way (might as well give them to someone that will eat them). Other places gives them to homeless shelters…
Karen has to grow up
yeah i have rolled up the rim with cups that have obviously been tampered with and they have always been play agains. im sure there are some people who work at tim’s who hate donuts but not everyone has been working there for 8 years like lyndsay… i mean look at eric… there always someone who tries to screw the system.
i have also got a blank roll up the rim and in previously years i have had the prize message located in the wrong spot like way off where it should be. i figure if the blank ones should be treated like a wild cards… like insert your prize here. maybe i should just write on it “car” or something and bring it in. i sent an email to tim’s customer support but no one has gotten back to me… im going to bring it into a store and see what they have to say.
I have complained a few times of rude service at the Tim Hortons across the street from where I work and customer support doesnt seem to care. Ive noticed a steady decrease in service and caring. Because Tim Hortons is so popular, they can afford losing customers and not care about things like that. Look at McDonalds, its the same deal.
I have had a few tampered cups and even once they gave me a double cup on a coffee (very unusual because they only do that with tea or if you specifically ask). It turns out that the roll up the rim cup was re-used (had lipstick marks and traces of coffee on it) and of course I didnt win anything. I went to complain and all that customer service said was “im sorry”. I could have caught something from the other person that drank out of that cup.
