Amazon Canada Lowers Free Shipping Threshold To $25

amazonletter

Amazon.ca announced today that they are lowering the free shipping minimum to $25!  As most of you already know it was $39 that you had to spend before you could get free shipping.  This is great if you just want to buy a dvd or two and don’t want or need to spend $39 before you could get free shipping.  Will this motivate you to shop more at Amazon?

Thanks Momoforever for posting this on the forum.

haha, yup. more than once I didn’t end up buying from Amazon because I couldn’t fill my shopping cart (and didn’t want to end up with “filler” items I didn’t originally want).

    great to hear! 🙂

  2. FreebieChick says:

That’s awesome and i frequently buy from them!

  3. 23edge says:

this is good I wanted to buy a book I really wanted, but was looking for another book to make it to $39. Now I can buy it without any problem.

  4. Sonia says:

    Definitely for Marys reasons above…

  5. mlongboat says:

Thats fantastic! I hope the prices don’t go up to compensate for their loss on shipping:S

    Nice for xmas.

  7. twinmommy says:

This is great! I hope Chapters follows suit!

  8. Mellie says:

Awesome news! I stopped shopping at Chapters/Indigo after I realized I wasn’t spending enough to justify the iRewards fee. Amazon.ca will match most prices without having to pay a membership fee. Yet another reason why Amazon.ca is a better deal.

Great news…. wonder when will FutureShop.ca & BestBuy.ca will follow… Will wait and see.

  11. pam says:

yay!! i’m glad the fee is lower. love Amazon!

  12. missbobloblaw says:

😀 Yay! I also know that amazon.com (not.ca) recently made changes to their fees- I had gotten an email last month telling me that my CC was credited back $6 due to a change in border cost something or rathers- for an order from 3 months ago! I’m liking this trend- its making me more inclined to shop w/amazon.com/.ca!

This is great news! I love ordering from Amazon and am happy that they’ve decided to add more departments. Yes, I will definitely be ordering more often. 🙂

  14. thaichips says:

    definitively! this is great!!!

  15. B says:

Awesome! I was just looking at amazon.com yesterday and thinking they got the better deal with their $25 threshold…

  16. Sallycat says:

Missbobloblaw, the shipping you paid when you ordered through Amazon.com was an estimate of the actual shipping cost plus duty fees. The actual duty fees were lower so they refunded the difference. This happened to me too. It takes awhile for them to process the refund but it was a pleasant surprise.

  17. Natalka says:

This is just awesome! Funny how many times I’ve gotten close to the $30 amount, and never gotten to the former free shipping number!

    LOVE this! 🙂

  18. Catherine L says:

I was looking at some books I’d like the other day but didn’t have enough to get to the $39 mark. This change is great! Will place my order later today!

  19. Irish_Girl says:

  21. cindy says:

    Yes! I’m so excited 😀
I had two items that I wanted to buy, but I couldn’t justify the shipping charge to myself.
But they do come quite close to $25!

  22. Sarah says:

This is awesome…makes using Swagbucks SO much more worth it now! Pretty sure I have enough points on there for $25 Amazon GC now 🙂

  23. Lynne says:

Yeah way to go Amazon – it’s nice to hear some good news for a change !!

  24. FallenPixels says:

Great news! Will make spending my giftcards from swagbucks more fun, I rarely choose enough at once to get free shipping at $39

  25. CSLT says:

    Yay! Awesome, I love Amazon!

  26. Weeeooojr says:

  27. Shaunah says:

yepp . . . now if only they had the grocry items the american site has. great selection of organic foods, but Amazon.ca has none!

  28. starri.kari says:

    SOOOOO Chapters.indigo.ca has followed suit!

Free shipping on orders over $25. =)

Thanks amazon.ca for setting a great example.

I was thrilled to see this post today but, then, my recent $39 minimum order (from last week) just arrived at 6:15 tonight by UPS! I guess maybe they’ve switched from using Canada Post to UPS for deliveries, and they’ve worked out a better rate… ? Amazon would be a huge contract for Canada Post to lose… I really hope that’s not the case. It is such a huge PITA to get packages from UPS if I’ve be out when they came to my house. I love being able to pick up my Canada Post packages close by.

  30. Moom says:

This is a good move, not the same as the spend £5 (about $8 CAD) get free shipping offer in the UK though. Hopefully the Canadian site will expand to offer the same sort of range as the US and UK sites as well soon!

  31. Sceptor says:

FYI. Chapters / Indigo has matched this offer. Great deals for consumers this Christmas!

  32. ladybug889 says:

I love Amazon too. I’ve had SUCH good experiences – stuff always arrives so fast and in perfect condition! I didn’t really trust internet shopping before Amazon changed my mind.

  33. FDF says:

Awesome…i hope Chapters will do the same…hopefully before Christmas as well.

  34. patty says:

I just ordered from amazon.ca this week and my package came via UPS.

Kinda sucks, UPS is uber slow around here and normally don’t make it to my place until after 6pm.
Canada Post on the other hand will have a parcel here before 10am.

  35. Mellie says:

@Patty: if it is an option for you, send your packages to your office instead. I find things arrive much faster to a business address, and there is always someone there to receive it on first attempt.

  36. I like this website very much, Its a very nice spot to read and find info .
