An Overview of Fashion Trends in 2006

Skinny Jeans tucked into Boots

One visit to Queen’s U will convince you that skinny jeans tucked into boots are the latest fashion craze. Expect this trend to last for a couple of more years.

Skinny Jeans

Crocs shoes

or should I call them sandals? Sure they look ugly, but they were one of 2006’s hottest trends.

Crocs

Stripes

Unfortunately they’re back.. invasion of the zebras

Stripes

Mini-skirt with leggings

Lately people have been wearing nylons or leggings under their skirts. The nylons/leggings don’t reach their feet but just below the knee. This is one of last year’s winners and I expect this trend to carry on for a couple of more years.

Skirt with Leggings

Jogging pants with one leg rolled up and the other one down

… so you only see one sock. Looks so freaking ugly but some guys think it’s cool.

Pant-leg rolled up

‘Popped’ collars

This can look very attractive if worn correctly. The collar doesn’t have to go all the way to the top and you can settle with a less dramatic “pop”. This is suitable for both females and males and looks best with a Lacoste Polo shirt.

I’m so out of it… I didn’t even notice half of these trends. lol

Hmm, why Queen’s U? It’s all over the place.

I just used Queen’s as an example since this is where I’m studying and it also seems like Queen’s students take fashion more seriously than other university students (dunno if this is a good or bad thing).

but yeah, these are everywhere 🙂

I just gotta jump in here. Fashion lately has made me cringe more than it has in the last 15 years.

Skinny jeans? Ugly. In boots? Maybe okay, as long as the boot’s okay. I hate the pairing in the photo above though. Yuck.

Those damn croc shoes make everyone look like peasants. Get some real shoes, jerks.

Honestly, stripes aren’t so bad if done well. The ones in that photo are totally okay with me.

Mini skirts and leggings… well… I haven’t decided. I mostly think they’re stupid, and prefer to wear teenie skirts with nothing or at least with just regular nylons. Good work better if you have massive lumpy legwarmers – now that’s cool.

The jogging pants don’t even deserve a response.

That popped collar thing can be really sexy. Just not on shirts. On certain jackets on certain people, it totally works.

  6. I must be honest that your post was quite interesting. It is good to see high quality content being put out on the internet nowadays. I myself own and run a site and I understand the high priority of quality content and it’s enormous impact it causes on the quality of a site. I personally believe kudos should be given when its deserved to other webmasters.
