iPod + cell phone = Apple iPhone

iPhone Canada

It’s out! Apple announced the eagerly anticipated iPhone today and just looking at its photos makes me drool. iPhone will be released in June. The 8GB version will cost $599 US so expect it to cost $699 here. The 4GB version will cost $499 US and it will probably cost $599 here. These prices include a 2 year contract with cingular (US). I’m not sure who will be Canada’s provider? Rogers? Telus? Any ideas?

It will have to be rogers as this is a GSM phone.

I am SOOOOOOO getting this. Time for me to get over my anti-Rogers stance if what John Solo said is true.

I’ve been planning on getting a Blackberry or something similar as my next phone so that I could blog on the go when need be. It looks like this will fill that niche nicely. 🙂

Rogers or Telus… I hope there this is a 3 year contract so i might actually be able to afford the low end model

i’m sure that there will be a CDMA model eventually as well. The RAZR also was only GSM when it first came out, but now has a CDMA model. Which means that eventually all the phone companies will have it if that happens. Just like how every company has the RAZR now.

  5. Matthew says:

Apple probably won’t make a CDMA model because they don’t want to have other carriers working with the iPhone in the states. I’m going to change my mind about who is going to be there carrier because AT&T has a relationship with Bell so Bell will probably be the carrier. But Bell isn’t that great in Canada(well at least where i live) so i hope not! And does Canada even have Edge? Don’t know much about cell phone carriers, don’t own a cell:P

This phone is way too expensive to purchase.

spending 600+tax on a phone which will only be good for 2 years is total waste of money

thats the average life of a cellphone since this is music phone you can cut the life in half which will be 1 year. A total waste of money

why not spend 200 on a sony erricson phone which is better in design and dont have to worry about spenidng too much

and buy a POCKET PC which has much more features than any Apple product out there

with the SD card prices going down everyday.

you can have 2 gadgets which will last you atleast 3 to 4 years without feeling like an idiot going for some product which is hyped by the market. nothin else

the 2 gadgets i have mentioned have been proven in the market as strong products, which have given consumer satisfaction.

im sorry for bad grammer and spelling errors, but im in a hurry.

PS: do you want to waste your life listening to music and supporting APPLES bully ways of handling its clients. THey are the ones who are behing killing piracy. without piracy we be all poor.

  7. Andre says:

It will be on Rogers since all other carriers in Canada support CDMA which is a different mobile standards. Hopefully Rogers will also supply an all you can eat data plan…

  8. Matthew says:

Yep looks like its going to be Rogers… Oh well they have decent coverage out here in Alberta

  9. Mike Dre says:

It will be rogers who releases the phone, and no it will not be CDMA. Don’t forget this is apple and they thrive on exclusivity. They dont want all the phone companies to carry it. They want the big $ deal with the one compnay that can carry it. On that note the iPhone will not be released in June in Canada. Expect it late 2007! Also i’ve been reading notes that getting an ulocked iPhone might be harder then we expect. In the states all phones shipped from apple will already have the cingular lock on the phone and since the phone will not be available in any other country there is no reason to ship any unlocked phones to wireless providers! But you never know hackers can do anything these days 😉

  10. Mike Dre says:

Also why are people so hung about the fact that AT&T is the provider in the states so it must mean that they will be the provider world wide. NO No, AT&T has a multiyear contract with Apple for the US only. In any other country any phone provider can bid for this contract, but like stated before Rogers has the $ and the GSM. 3G is also coming to rogers and guess what phone will have 3G, you guessed it, the second Gen iPhone. So you just might want to wait for the second gen since you will be able to video chat with the people you talk to, will also have bigger flash memory..( a 30 GB flash card was just released at CES) So the next gen iPhone will have at least a 12Gb memory. I think i’ll wait since i’ll be waiting any ways!

Apple is now being sued over the name of this phone as Cisco already has the rights to the “iPhone” name. Wonder if they’ll get to keep it?

  12. Justin says:

sBoy, talk about a lot of disinformation. 1. Cingular will carry the product for a minimum of 2 years. 2. Which court was the lawsuit filed in? Yes, it was previously used by Cisco but you know, they are both based in the Bay Area with very good relations. 3. Wow, from 30G at CES to a 12 G guarntee on the a 2nd gen iPhone. Is there some formula for this? 4. “Apple does not want other carriers working with the iPhone”. Hmmm, yes there is an exclusive agreement, and yes, it may be based on who can supplement the phone when they sell to customers. It is the accepted business model in the States.

  13. Alison says:

Here is a link to the article I read over the lawsuit… http://www.cbc.ca/money/story/2007/01/10/cisco-apple.html . As it states in the article “The company filed the suit in the U.S. District Court in California seeking to prevent Apple from infringing upon Cisco’s registered trademark for the name iPhone.”
Cisco launched the suit AFTER Apple went ahead and released the phone with the name “iPhone” while the two companies were still in talks.

Lots of of bloggers not too pleased with this new iPad.There was just 2 much hype about it and alot people got disapointed.Thing is, I actually see lots of the cool potential uses of this device. Third-party soft for doing tunes, games, newspapers and magazine and books, tons of awesome stuff, but they failed to sell it right (excluding the books). It looks kind of undercooked
