I get a text from my mother asking if I felt the earth shake and I wonder if she’s asking me some deep, meaningful question … and then I realize my twitter feed is going crazy with #quake comments.
Did YOU feel the earth shake?
Although thought to be based in Washington, DC it seems the quake rattled it’s way to Montreal, Toronto and other major areas as high as a 5.9!
YES!! I am on the 10th floor so it was quite obvious!
btw I am in downtown Toronto
Felt it in Kitchener Ontario! Yikes!
I’m in NB and I swear my desk moved. Then I opened twitter and saw all the feeds! I don’t know if I could have really felt it this far away but my desk was swaying!
YES! In St.Catharines and I am on my laptop sitting in my bed and the damn bed was moving!
ahh see i am ground floor maybe that’s why but no one in this office felt a thing!
yes I felt it. High up in a condo in mid-town Toronto. Lasted about 7seconds and shook the chair i was sitting in.
I’m near London ON and I didn’t feel anything either. I am also on the ground floor. That’s a pretty big area it was felt in though.
Didn’t feel a thing..I’m in the GTA ..but with 2 kids under two I’m not still enough to feel the earth move.
We just got evacuated here in NB for safety reasons! Our building did shake!
i felt it in toronto, i was in a bus at a subway station and i felt the bus was shaking while it stood there. And i wondered at the moment if someone really haevy was jumping on the bus and even looked around to see but saw noone! LOL!
Yes felt here in ancaster!
I felt it on the second floor of a building unit in GTA. It was quite a wobbly experience. I felt the one last year also in the same building.

Yup! Felt it here in Ottawa and it lasted for quite a while. My monitor on my desk was shaking and so were my plants.
Yep, I’m in uptown Toronto on the 18th floor and I definitely felt it! I also thought I was getting dizzy until I saw the plants swaying and my boyfriend felt it too! It lasted quite a long time (almost a minute – although it seemed to come in waves or something).
Felt it in Montreal! I was sitting in my car in the parking lot and my car was being rocked from left to right. Made me sleepy 😉
Yes, in Mississauga on 5th Floor
Earth quake? Nope. Didn’t feel a thing.
But…there’s a LOT of construction near my house and its been pretty much constant for the past year– earth movers across the street on the right; jack hammers across the street to my left and road paving directly in front of my house right now, which also happens to be on a fairly busy road.
My dishes have been rattling in the cupboards since last September–so I truly wouldn’t notice an earth quake unless it happened directly under my house. 😛
I thought I was just getting dizzy. Felt for about 5 seconds on the 11th floor in Brampton.
I felt it this afternoon in Saint Lazare, QC (just west of Montreal island).
felt it in Windsor!
Got an email….relatives lives in Martinsburg, WV and they said it was 5.8-6.0 there and they are all fine…yikes!
At work sitting at my desk in Mississauga, ON and felt nothing. Didn’t know about it until a co-worker mentioned something.
Not in Oshawa.
Was outside mowing and gardening.
Beautiful breeze and bright sunny day – that’s it.
Wow first the Goderich tornado and now an earthquake. Yikes!
I felt it. Shook the couch under me. I knew what it was right away. I remember feeling the quake last year too. I live in Aurora in a bungalow. My sister-in-law in the basement felt it too.

In Mississauga, I didn’t feel a thing. I was here on SC at the time 😛 I was on the ground floor.

I was standing when first shock was hit and I didnt felt a thing. But eveyonr was talking about it. But as soon as I sat at my desk, I felt my desk shaking.
Even fire alarm didnt went off. (It did last year….) So all were confused…. Tremor lasted for more than a minute. May not have been continuous….
Eventually the whole building was evacuated. That was pretty scary though…..
Felt nothing here in little old St Joseph Ontario
In Mississauga, on the ground floor, didn’t feel a thing or hear a thing until I logged onto Twitter. #Shocking
Did not feel a thing here in the Dundas West Area, I probably did not realize with all the traffic and huge trucks and buses that sometimes shake the roads too.
Toronto Yonge & Sheppard 8th floor – totally felt it, felt like Last year June 2010’s earth quakes. But last years was a little longer/stronger.
Building was evacuated shortly after… but then we were told to return to work in about 10 minutes.
I didn’t feel it here, in Ontario. But I have a girlfriend in Chesterfield, Virginia (just west of Richmond and about 45 minutes south of epicenter) who said it was S C A R Y!!!
Felt it here in downtown Toronto on the 6th floor

I live in St. Catharines, Ontario and I felt it here for sure…I was sitting on my couch and the couch shimmied!!
Hamilton, ON – downtown area, 6th floor and it was VERY noticeable. I ran out from the server room in fear the racks would fall. Everyone began to panic and we “self-evacuated” the building even though it wasn’t declared as an emergency. People who worked across the streets in the high-rises didn’t seem to notice, then again, it could also be that our building is about to fall over (on its own) anyways.
I spoke to a few coworkers who were up in Ancaster at a branch building and they said it was considerable too.
Downtown TO, My desk moved back and forth quite noticeably for about 5 seconds
I did’nt feel a thing here in Oshawa, and neither did my co-workers. When I heard about it on the radio, I called home, and my mom did’nt feel a thing,(in north oshawa) neither did my dad at work in the south end.
One of my co-workers called home and her kids felt it in Newtonville.
Yup….sitting in my backyard reading and all of a sudden my chair was moving! I felt the last one too….doing the same thing….reading.
Apparently it hit here in Fredericton, but I was either asleep, oblivious, or the river dampened any effect to the North Side.
I just thought it was my medication making me feel dizzy and unsteady, but when i realized my tea was rippling in the mug, i knew it was a tremor.
Chatham Ontario
Felt it here in London, on the 12th floor, for approximately 30 seconds.
Have family in Richmond, Va and they are all fine but a little spooked!
I felt it here in Mississauga on the 16th floor. I was spooked out! I thought my body was shaking, and so I walked around then noticed things hanging from the ceiling were swaying back and forth! Went on facebook, then found out it was an earthquake.
Felt it at work in St. Catharines. Talking with a co-worker and I thought I was getting dizzy, then her monitor started shaking. My son and daughter also felt it in Niagara Falls. Crazy eh!

Felt it at work in Welland. My first reaction was to hold onto something thought I was feeling dizzy but realized it was the building not me.
I didn’t feel a thing in Orangeville, but we were in the rec room in the basment. A family member felt it in Barrie.
I felt it in Toronto 20th Floor
Well, that’s a relief! I was in an office building in Pointe-Claire and thought I was having a dizzy spell. I even asked a colleague if she felt the room sway and she whispered “not at all…” as she looked at me with a certain aire of bewilderment and concern.
Believe it or not, I felt it all the way up in New Liskeard, Ontario….freaked me out!
Yes, we felt it in Chatham, ON. I could feel my chair sway & the glass table move as I was typing on my laptop. Also felt vibration from the wood floors!

I did not feel it at all. I have been in an 8.8 and 7.8 quake and I guess I’ve grown immune to feeling anything less than a 6. Don’t panic, that’s my advice.

Nothing felt here in NS…..but then, Rita MacNeil didn’t fall down yet.
I was sitting on my couch here in London, Ontario and thought I was dizzy but then saw the table beside my couch move too for at least 30 seconds. I looked over to see if my daughter was moving the couch and table but she was across the room.
I was in Barrie and did not feel it however my friend who was working in the Honda plant in Alliston felt it.
