Great deals do nothing for my social anxiety (The Great Boxing Day Round-Up)

Ladies and gentlemen, let your Boxing Day shopping commence!!

Ah – who am I kidding?  If you’re a deal-hound (and if you’re reading this site, you no doubt are) you’ve been lined up in front of your favorite store for hours and are only reading this upon your return trip.  The picture above is a quick snapshot of Toronto’s Eaton Centre on Boxing Day 2007, and it’s a perfect reminder of why I like to stay indoors on the 26th.  Luckily I usually overspend on Christmas and have nothing left come boxing day anyways, so I never feel too put out.

This year though — I get to be on the other side of the counter.  As I type this I’m quickly wolfing down a breakfast bagel and getting my shoes togther to head in and fight the good fight at my retail job for the next 9 hours.  Wish me luck everybody!  And if you got any great deals today, let us know here!

I didn’t go shopping this morning because I don’t want to get stomped on. Thank goodness for online shopping.

Noooooooooo. I am staying home and doing laundry. We ventured into a Wal-Mart in Michigan on Boxing Day once and it was a real zoo. My three year old was a little freaked out by all the activity. And then I was stunned by what people were purhcasing, large ticket items and then paying with large amounts of cash. I mean, who carries 600 in cash? After that, I said, never again! Have a good day.

I went to the city today to Future shop, and although it was busy I am so glad to make a super long story short lets just say the employee must of liked my bum and dropped 300 dollars off our purchase.

My son went shopping today with his Xmas $$$$. Hope he’s ok with the big crowds and everything goes smoothly for him.

  8. Lana72 says:

My Goodness! I absolutely love to shop but I have never ventured out on Boxing Day. Hope you get to soak your feet Jim!

  9. Dan Radice says:

Poor Jim. My heart goes out to him.

In the meantime, I’ve been checking these Boxing Day specials against PriceBat.ca’s price comparison page — in some cases, good deals are to be found, others, not so much!

Be wary, people! Don’t get caught up in the rush! 🙂

I felt the deals were not that great this year other than maybe on really big ticket items, did score some deals on panties & fleece tops though

I was at old navy and the first 100 got a wristband so if you spent over 20 you got a mp3 player samsung pebble that worth 60 dollars for spending 20.So i bought my jeans for 15 dollars compared to 45 and then got my fleece pj pants from 20 to 8 and got the mp3 player as a gift to my boyfriend for our one year

Shopping at Vancouver’s Metrotown was hell today!
The line ups were crazy; it looped over TWICE!
And when you tried to go home via Skytrain, there was a line up for that too! A line up to get on, a line up to valdiate ticket, and a line up just to get on the escalators! 🙁 And you had to wait an hour for every bus!
    HOWEVER
The deals were tres awesome and it was all worth it 😉

  14. Richie Rich says:

Bah this is nothing in my opinion.

This year, instead of going to boxing day in my hometown, I went to montreal and waited in line for 3 hours outside and it was SOOO packed inside.

People were also very bad drivers….

  15. Sally says:

Yep def rammy bad drivers. We saw an accident in London and someone take out a stop light, pole and all.

  16. nsangel says:

NO stores were open on the 26th here at all. Probably a good thing. Us maritimers use brute force to get deals.
