“how i could be a canadian”

As you guys know I have a “Suggest a Deal” form on the blog’s sidebar where people can let me know of any good deals out there. You’d never imagine how many none related messages I get through this form. People send messages asking for help, attaching a picture of their babies or some random picture or saying random meaningless stuff. It’s just pretty amusing really 😛

Yesterday I got the weirdest message so far. The title of the message was “how i could be a canadian” and here’s the message:

dear sir or madam  im very in love to be a canadian in my whole life i loved  canada in my blood .there is no a day that could pass me without thinking or even saying to my self i wish i could be a canadian citizen. maybe  my life could be easy in looking for  work  and help my family .i wish i was born in canada .oh canada i love you  deep in my heart .if god could destroy all the countries i would plead for your mercy.and not get harm  i love you canada always

And attached with the above message was this picture (I censored their faces to protect their privacy).

Huh??

Seriously what the heck is this about?

Looks like someone is looking for a wedding, in order to stay in Canada… easy ticket to citizenship! 😉
    Tell him for 1/2 million $ I would be willing 😉 \

Welcome to the world of “Take me to Canada, please!” emails… I receive at least 5 per week of those with any kind of unimaginable questions and offers…

  4. Nancy says:

Seems like some sort of spam to me. I’ve gotten multiple e-mails like that in my gmail account. Also the periods at the end of the sentences are weirdly placed – who does that?? lol

I guess it proves what a great reputation we have around the world as a wonderful place to live and raise a family. I’m impressed that coming from someone who may have very little English, the message conveyed the meaning very well.
It was relatively easy for my parents to emigrate to
Canada but I remember how humiliated I felt when kids would laugh at how I pronounced words when I first came here – from England.
I taught English as a Second Language to children in school and saw how many of those little children were so appreciative to be learning the language of the country which had provided their families with safety when they were fleeing persecution in their homelands.

In all seriousness, a lot of web-sites are blocked in many countries, perhaps they could only access a few….and since they chose this one feel proud. and unless they specficly anked for assistants then take as a compliment…..

  11. adorita says:

Sounds like an Nigerian Scam, or something like Nichole Kidman’s Birthday Girl. If you reply, they will ask you to help them to go to Canada. By sending money, of course. The picture isn’t necessary the person who sent you the message.

I am always amazed at some of the comments…like this blog is johnson and johnson or P & G. It sounds like boo gets even more bizarre people posting & asking strange questions than we get to see. Maybe he can start a “post of the odd” section for laughs. I do feel bad for the guy & his family..immigration can be expensive. But what the heck about god destroying all the countries…sounds a little wackoo to me. I would second that you not reply.

I work with a teenager who moved to Canada just a year ago, speaks a little better English, but very close to that, and works his hiney off to send money back to his family. He is SO appreciative of everything Canada has offered him, and is trying to get his family over here as soon as he can. I, personally, am very proud that people want to come to Canada so badly!

  14. Jessica says:

YOU guys are all VERY VERY RUDE! this poor man is probably someone who lives in a poor country and the fact he can even speak another language is awesome! but no BOO you put him up here to get made fun of when all he was trying to do was express his love of our country…you should be ashamed!

  15. Tray says:

I don’t think Boo put him here to be made fun of. The letter is really cute. I love Canada too!

Maybe the man thinks Boo is seriously THE Smartest Canuck (I’m not arguing!) and will be able to help him into the country.

  16. Boo Radley says:

Jessica, I didn’t want him to be made fun of and I did censor his face. I do appreciate the fact that he loves our country and I wish him the best of luck!

I just find it interesting that people use “Suggest a Deal” form to send me all kinds of unrelated stuff 😛

  17. Skippy says:

    Sorry,I’m with Jessica,poor taste.

  18. Alf says:

Never kick a man when he’s down. Don’t see any point in publishing the complete message and the pic.

  21. Carollyne says:

No matter who it’s from, we should all be very grateful that we are privileged to live in Canada. I’ve been to some of the poorest places in the world and cried when I got home…realized how rich I had always been. Though certainly not rich by North American standards, after seeing how others live, including distant relations in Ukraine, (where I could have been born had my ancestors not left!), I was deeply in awe/gratitude of having running water and appliances, paved roads and cars, clean cities, bathrooms, showers and a salary. We live at the pinnacle of standards of living for the world. This person might be legit, there are millions like him who would love to even set foot on our land, or visit it for a week, though most will forever be denied any such opportunity, as many are not allowed even access through restrictive visas in some of the poorer countries. Plus they would never have the hope to earn airfare at the rate they are paid. Yes, some of their English and punctuation is that bad and even worse! But like another person said, it’s impressive they know that much. But I guess you’ll never know whether it’s a scam or a desperate soul…..

  22. Kay says:

    Canadian sucks in the world.

  23. Morena says:

I’m with Carollyne here. I was thinking exactly the same thing. I come from a country where poverty, corruption, desperation and injustice where part of my life . I understand where he is coming from and I feel really sorry for him. We don’t realize how blessed we are to live in this wonderful country.

  24. Lanceosh says:

I do think it was not right to cover the faces as obviously they sent it to be displayed!
As Canadians we already (or should) know we live in the best country in the world
(Now if obly we could dump that guy Harper for taxing our Income Trusts)
