McDonald’s McMini in Canada – Will you try it?

McDonalds Canada Mini

It looks like McDonalds Canada will be launching a new line of sandwiches/burgers: The McDonalds McMinis. The Mcdonalds Mcmini burgers will consist of  a portion of grilled or cripsy seasoned chicken topped with pesto or Thai sauce on a mini baguette. Mcminis will cost $1.99 plus tax. Interestingly we’re the first country in the world to get the Mcdonalds Mcminis! We’re being used as the guinea pigs I guess 😛 .

I’m not sure how large these burgers will be nor have I tried them, so it’s hard to make up my opinion on them yet. But if they’re single bite burgers I’d rather stick to the yummy unhealthy value meals.

What are your thoughts on the Mcdonalds Mcminis? Will you be trying them out?

Here’s the Mcdonalds Mcmini Canada Ad that will be airing on TV. I’m lovin the song in that ad 😀

My husband works closingshift at McDonald’s, so he brings home food. I’ll ask him for some. xD

  2. TaraF says:

Haven’t tried it and I won’t be. I avoid McDonalds like the plague.

  3. trucks12trucks says:

ha I like the song. I wont be trying it though. Newly converted vegan from vegetarian!

  4. vibrantflame says:

Honestly it looks pretty gross. I haven’t been to McDonalds since A&W came to town and I don’t plan on going back there.

  5. brittany says:

isnt it just one for 1.89$ ??? even the add shows her with one and the mcdonalds lady says 2 new flavours $1.89 each???
anyone know for sure that you get 2 ?? i would try it if you got 2 but if not id rather stick to my jr.chicken its cheaper and looks bigger that the mcmini 😛

  6. Justine says:

I am with TaraF, I avoid Mcdonalds like the plague too.

  7. Patty says:

I think it’s a good sign that they are downsizing their portions. They are too big especially in the states. I am a Happy Meal fan myself. I’m not sure I would try this though.

  8. James says:

interestingly McDonalds has the BEST side garden salad of any restaurant you can find. It is free to substitute instead of fries with a meal or can be bought for the price of a medium fries.
Compare it to the side salad at ANY restaurant and you will be surprised at the value it offers.
Anyway, I’ll check out these mcminis as my wife and I take our son to mcdonalds once or twice a week as he loves the burgers and playplace. We never eat the fries and I usually stick to the McDouble, no big macs or quarter pounders. BTW…the meat mcdonalds uses is better than you will find in all but the best butcher shops. If you buy ground beef at the grocery store, mcdonalds is better.

  9. miniv says:

    its meee!

  10. MLange says:

They’re probably like the KFC Snackers.

  11. Karen says:

Pesto? No, thanks. The thai sauce might be worth trying out… but if I ordered one I would honestly be more likely to ask for the McChicken sauce or light mayo.

  12. mlongboat says:

I think they would be $1.89 each. Thats around the price of the snack wraps. I cant see them being able to charge $1.89 for a pair. Id try the Thai. I like snack wraps but sometimes I crave carbs;)

  13. Moom says:

The McMini? Wow, I’d be surprised if Apple don’t come after them for that…

  14. Sarah says:

I have had them before- in Canada. Quebec has them about a year ago. They are both delicious, esp the pesto!

  15. Shastra says:

I’ll admit that I LOVE McDonald’s. Do I eat it every week? No. But once in a while I’ll have their hotcakes, or sandwiches/burgers. Can’t wait to try the McMini, sounds yummy! 🙂

  16. dealsniffer says:

uh not sure about the flavors. I am happy to see the smaller portions but it seems like it is 1.89 for one and so the portions get smaller but the price not so much. I think the mcchicken is probably about the same size or slightly bigger and cheaper. also the flavors don’t interest me much. the song is fun tho in the ad. I am thinkign that they would not have a french song in the ads that play across Canada though. so I am unsure. I prefer A&W over McDonalds any day but sometimes when you are shopping and you need a few bites of something-McDonalds is good.

  17. dealsniffer says:

oh I just noticed in the ad that is at the top that the small print says for limited time and restaurants only in Quebec so are people sure this is going to be across Canada?

  18. Amanda says:

The McMini’s were advertised in the latest set of coupons I received and I’m in Alberta, so I would assume they will be available across Canada.

  19. dori says:

    mini ni ni ni~~ 🙂
    i m loving it !

  20. SCHAND says:

    LIKE TO TRY…THIS MCMII’S….

  21. dealsniffer says:

ok I saw them in the coupons I got too but here in Alberta they are 1.99 and not 1.89. sorry for that price I will stick with a jr mcChicken for 1.39. or even a mcDouble which are probably more worth the money.

  22. Jasmine says:

I live in Quebec and we had these like 8 months ago … maybe even longer they stopped selling them and I was soooo mad they were really good!! I never tried the pesto but the Thai was AMAZING

  23. Azaelea says:

Try it? Not a chance! MacDonald’s stuff is just plain bad juju. Too many people have been sucked into eating their over fatty, over salted garbage & are paying with their lives because of it.

  24. charliechan says:

4th Comment from James….sounds like he is sincere, but the part about mcdonalds having meat comparable to the best butchers out there would be hard to believe. i know mcdonalds gets their meat from many sources from around the world. I’m sure the mcdonals corporation here in canada buys meat produced in canada, it most likely starts off as really good beef, but considering what gets added to the meat is a whole other story. there has to be all sorts of meat filler product in that patty we eat, ever watch the documentary Food Inc.?

Just informing the folks who don’t know better, I’m not a tree hugger, cattle farmer, vegetarian, or a McDonald’s hater.

I’m a computer consultant who needs a quick meal when I’m out working and one of my choices is McDonalds, however not the first, but I still enjoy a big mac or quarter pounder meal. I do believe that you should always not just ask whats for dinner, but whats IN the food you eat, like the mccain ads!

  25. Robin says:

I cannot eat McDonalds since watching Food Inc. Hubby and I, out of habit, grabbed a quick cheeseburger the other day and all I could think about was the poor overcrowded, standing in thier own filth, corn fed cows. What an injustice to our food system.

  26. Annie76 says:

Here’s the for the whole lyrics (song) from Jacques Dutronc

    http://www.frmusique.ru/texts/d/dutronc_jacques/miniminimini.htm

  27. Mel says:

This isn’t new, we had it in Montreal a few months ago and I loved the thai one.

  28. Katty says:

Most likely not. Doesn’t look that good and for $2 I’d rather buy something else.

  29. ycx21 says:

it IS 1.89 or $1.99 EACH.
I will try both anyway =)

  30. Tiger Campbell says:

Not a big fan of McDonalds because their food is always small portioned and it’s always overcooked..tastes like it’s been sitting there for a week! That and I always find the inside of that restaurant is filthy..doesn’t matter which one!

  31. Cheap says:

$1.89 or $1.99 for a McDonald’s mini-snacker? It would be cheaper to buy a loaf of bread and a can of sardines. The loaf of bread would last longer than 1 mini-snack. The loaf of bread is better for your health.

  32. Donald says:

Looks ok, I like my grilled chicken snack wrap with spicy buffalo sauce.

  33. Annie says:

Effectivement, les 2 sont très bons, le Thai particulièrement, par contre ce n’est pas très gros, semblable au wrap éclair. Je dois en predre 2 pour être rassasiée…. Mais Très bon.

  34. ju.i says:

I tried the presto one today and it actually tastes pretty good but it’s really small, I think the size is almost like the chicken snack wrap

  35. James says:

charliechan…I’m actually a Canadian beef cattle farmer.

McDonalds beef is 100% canadian grown beef, no additives or fillers (except salt and pepper). And better quality than you will find in most grocery stores.

  36. Eric Lewis says:

there is also Mayo on the bottom

    which no one has mentioned

same chicken strip as snack wrap or half piece of grilled chicken

  37. Alee142010 says:

I will try it, if they have free mcmini days!! (like the free coffee days LOL!!!)

  38. Sally says:

DonP Boo wrote this in his own words, in fact I do believe another site of his had this posted FIRST so before you accuse people of stealing something maybe you sould look into things first. Also the “art” was created by Mcdonalds Lmao.

  39. DonP says:

Oh, which site was it? Thought so.

  40. Kevin says:

They’re advertised in the mailer coupons (BC). Will be trying for sure. Looks like the size of a snack wrap.

  41. Kathie says:

I will definitely try these. Look awesome.

  42. DonP says:

    They’re $1.99, not $1.89. LMAO.

  43. suzy says:

Tried the pesto one today and really liked it, don’t knock it until you try it

  44. I tried both of these flavours in grilled today and I LOVE them. I usually get 2 grilled chicken snack warps but I’ve never liked how the wrap felt too big for the chicken, but the chicken is a good size for these little baguettes. So tasty. I kind of want another :-X

  45. frankie stephenson says:

Tried the Spicy Thai ones today and let me tell you, the best thing McDonalds has. Seriously, they are awesome. The size is pretty decent too. I will definitely buy again.

  46. Jordan10la says:

I’ll totally try it. I love McDonalds, why does everyone seem to hate it?

  47. Mamamia says:

I tried the mcmini grilled chicken with pesto sauce. Delicious and guilt-free!

  48. someone says:

just tried the spicy thai. not bad at all…

  49. Kelly says:

I tried the Spicy Thai verdsion, not bad. Nice size for a little snack if you don’t crave a burger.

  50. Dave says:

Tried crispy Thai chicken today. It’s actually very good for a fast food sandwich.

I see quite a few people comparing it to the wraps and jr. burgers, but the McMini seems abit smaller than even those wraps and jr. burgers, while the price is slightly higher. My conclusion is that the McMinis are not there for value but rather quality (yes, an odd thing to say about McDonald’s), in a smaller serving size.

  51. SAK says:

Hi, can someone please tell me what the song (in the english version) is? I can’t find it anywhere!

  52. Skyler McCaw says:

I have literally just finished one (actually 2 w/ 1 more to go!) off right now. I like it! The bun literally looks and tastes like a mini submarine english muffin. I like the crispy chicken that pesto’s good. IDK if that’s mayo on the bottom, because I absolutely DETEST mayo and think it should an OPT-IN condiment! So I’ll just tell myself it’s a form of ranch dressing. Good job, McDonald’s. I’d be interested in trying the Thai next. I have never seen the ads before or heard of this product until 10 minutes ago when my dad surprised me w/ it for dinner. I guess I must live in a cave, or avoid watching Canadian networks (crappy CTV and Global) like the plague [the plague describes the process and quality of KFC chicken, btw!)]. Start advertising on HGTV and BBC Canada if you want me to see them.

  53. randall says:

i had them both tonight, pesto 7/10 and thai 9/10, i got a side of southwest sauce and it made them both way better to be honest. def worth getting, prob my new fav things at mcdicks

  54. Jacob Gordon Pottinger says:

They’re good. i live in Victoria British Columbia in Langford on Volmer rd

  55. Camster says:

They are both awesome. I prefer the pesto, but that’s just me. I agree with #46 that it’s the best thing McD’s makes.

  56. eryj says:

THERE SOOO GOOOD I JUST HAD ONE but they are really small too

  57. kerry says:

I bought one of each and liked the thai one the best. They were a nice lunch.

  58. Stella McLean says:

I have tried the McMini crispy and I thought it was very good.. I like it better then the wrap..

  59. jinxie says:

McMini thai crispy was dry, the bun was like a dry english muffin. im a big mac lover at heart

  60. Kokoro says:

I tried the Grilled Spicy Thai.
    Best thing they’ve made.

  61. mhk says:

Hated them absolutely. DH loved them – so there you go. IMHO, if you go to McD you may as well get some good old junk. This li’l chicken finger (crispy) and piece of chicken breast(?) (grilled) did nothing for me. There was more sugary “baguette” than meat, and the sauces – pesto and hot? were not interesting.

I wonder how quickly they would be “chopped” on food network.

Sorry, I dont leave negative comments, but this one just got to me …

  62. Lily says:

Some of my colleagues told me that the pesto mcmini’s taste awful, but I’ve had the grilled thai mcmini, and that tastes pretty great. 🙂

    McMini: Grilled / Crispy Chicken
    Pesto / Thai Glaze
    Garlic Mayo
    on a mini baguette

  63. skm says:

These mc minis have excellent flavors and are really good, but i do wish they’d offer full size burger versions cause it takes like 6 of them to satisfy me.

  64. Vinnie says:

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE These bite-size sandwiches. The pesto is good, the thai was perfect. I agree however the size is small. I bought 2 so it could fill me. To #62, a strip of crispy or grilled chicken breast is ALOT healthier than a McDonald’s beef patty. Anyways I would recommend to try a couple as a snack for on the way home from work.

  65. Rachel says:

I had to buy my co workers mcflurries so i decided to try the crispy thai mcmini. It was terrible! They didn’t serve it on a mini baguette at all, it was more like a soggy english muffin. The sandwich itself was about the size of a snack wrap with the same portion of chicken in it. I think it was ridiculous that they put mayo and thai sauce as well. It was extremely soggy and unpleasand. I’ll stick to my snack wrap next time!

  66. shannon says:

We just stopped by for a small snack and saw these, we each got a thai variety and thought the flavor was outstanding! Seems a tad pricy for what you get but I would get it again… actually looking forward to it.

  67. Aly says:

I’m from the south in the US and just traveling through Canada. Got a couple of mcminis to snack on during our drive. Absolutely loved the pesto but hated the zesty mango. No one seems to have mentioned that flavor but in Dawson Creek they have 3 flavors. It is pretty small and fairly expensive given the size but I like them nonetheless. Wish they had these in the states.

  68. Vonnie Brion says:

Im trying to start my own blog, so ive been searching and this is the best one if seen so far, Great Job!!!

  69. Shelley says:

I do not eat fast food, never have. But out of desperation one day I stopped and bought a Zesty Mango McMini. And loved it. It does sound gross….mango sauce with garlic mayo. But,trust me, I’m very fussy, and this was delish. I prefer the grilled chicken to the crispy, to avoid the fatty batter coating.

  70. Organo Gold says:

What a great article! I’d love more information. Thanks a lot!

  71. I cannot understand how people can read this and not think “genius alert”. Great post. I’ll keep coming back to read even more.

  72. Hey a3azs9, very interesting post, it really got me thinking. Thank you. lb1wt
