couple of problems…
1) the ‘rules’ were that the selection had to be under $100
contestant 160 is over
contestant 552 is over
also, the other’s that were over should have had theie entries taken out to increase probability for others!
2) contestants 777,778,779 numbers shouldn’t have been in the draw in the first place coz they did not make the deadline!! taking them out would have given a higher probability to those who were on time!
3) wasn’t 1 of the requirements ‘baby clothes’ how comes there are many entries who have selected adult clothing?
i should get 2 sleep coz i feel like one of those haters on youtube who have nothing else 2 do but complain!!

yes sore loser, you are right. if there are rules that are established at time of entering a contest, then they should be abided by. especially if people who “win” did not follow the rules posted.
just went back and checked things out… and yes according to the rules, sore loser is 100% correct. both the 1st and 4th place winners went over the $100 stated in the rules. so technically, if we are abiding by rules, they should not be eligible to win.
I didn’t even enter this contest, but if there are rules laid out, then they are there for a reason and should be followed.

Sore Loser you make some valid points. I didn’t notice that contestant 160 and 552 were over the limits. I’ll have to discuss this with Old Navy and see how they’d like me to deal with this.
As for contestants 777,778 and 779, none of them won anyhow so their presence did not affect your chances of winning. Had they won they might have been disqualified.
I’m sorry the way I run contests is not perfect, but this is kind of how I’ve been running them for a few years now. I try being lenient as long as the person is not doing something majorly wrong like say cheating or having multiple entries. But I don’t think that’s right, I should probably be more harsh when anyone breaks any rule.
Please only count contestants within the limit and who followed the rules. Some people really looked through their website to plan things out, while others seemed as if they just put down random clothing without as much consideration for an easy win(hence over the limit and not choosing the clothing type they were supposed to..). Also, I saw too many people with like, 4 entries… oh yeah, but most had 2.. :F
In all prior contests people have been allowed to be “over” most times actually people post that they would pay the overages. IN FACT 95% or more of the entrants in this contest are over $100 because it was run during the 30% off sale which is now over. So it wouold be impossible to remove all the people over.

sally, thats my point ALOT of ppl shouldve been disqualified. The prices would’ve reflected the 30% off discount, coz that was the whole point of old navy supporting this contest (so that we would visit their website and purchase items that were discounted from it)
Next time, if there is going to be so much leniency, dont write up any rules just keep it a free for all and multiple entries allowed nice n simple!!

sore loser, if I was to void (disqualify) the result of the last 3 posters if they had won then no it does not affect the probability. Having taken two probability courses while studying my Engineering degree I can say this with confidence. I’m willing to scientifically challenge you as well lol.
As for the people exceeding the $100 limit I do see the misunderstanding now after Sally pointed it out. Many people chose their items based on the 30% sale. Considering that there was no rule that said items have to be chosen at their regular price and not the (back then) discounted sale price, these contestants did nothing wrong.
Next time I’ll make sure the rules are more clear and I’m sorry if this has caused you any inconvenience.
