Starting on July 1st, you will pay less for feminine hygiene products as the government announced that they will be exempting goods and services tax (GST) and harmonized sales tax (HST) on “a supply of a product that is marketed exclusively for feminine hygiene purposes and is a sanitary napkin, tampon, sanitary belt, menstrual cup or other similar product.”

There has been a lot of pressure on the government to remove the tax on feminine hygiene products but considering they made $36,398,387 in taxes on feminine hygiene products last year, they have been slow to make any changes.  Several provinces still charge the provincial portion of the tax on these products and have not yet announced any changes to the tax.

Here are the store promotions at grocery and drug stores to help you save while you shop this week:

Back in November, Amazon.ca decided they were going to begin offering same-day delivery in select cities and on select products. This service, while convenient, was going to run a rather high price tag, with it costing $5.99 flat-fee for Amazon Prime members and a whopping $9.98 for non-members, with each additional item in your order costing an extra $0.99. Amazon.ca has changed their terms for same-day shipping, and are now offering Amazon Prime members, who spend $35 or more on their order, free same-day delivery.

The same shipping fee will be in place for Amazon Prime members who spend below $35, but with there now being 20 million different items qualifying for same-day delivery service I’m sure you won’t have a hard time finding some extra filler items to bump you over that $35 minimum.

Your order will have to be placed before 12pm on the day that you wish to have it delivered, and so far the only Canadian cities that offer this service are Toronto and Vancouver.

There is something so idyllic about having a peaceful place to sit at the end of the day, preferably in a natural setting, and process the events of the day in a calm silence. Within Lowe’s Canada’s flyer for this week, they began advertising for what they’re calling the buy more, save more event, where you will be able to save up to 20% off on major appliances – should you buy the qualifying number of appliances. The breakdown of the discounts on the major appliances is as follows:

• buy 1 major appliance, save 10%
• buy 2 major appliances, save 15%
• or buy 3 major appliances, save 20%

In addition to having this buy more, save more event, Lowe’s is also selling off select appliances at special prices, that can be stacked with the buy more, save more offer. For instance, you can purchase an Amazon 4.8 cu. ft. front-load washer for just $758 and an accompanying 7.4 cu. ft. front load dryer for just $548, for a total of $1,296. Since you will be getting two qualifying major appliances, you will then be able to save an extra 15% off this special price, meaning you’ll only have to pay $1,101.60.

This week, beginning on Saturday, May 30th, Shoppers Drug Mart Canada will be selling International Delight (473mL) bottles at 2 for $3. Sears Days is back at Sears Canada for the next week, which will feature the lowest prices of the season on everything from men’s and women’s apparel to major appliances. Sears Days happens a couple of times a year and each time it comes to pass, I still seem to find myself floored by their shockingly low prices. And while this seasonal Sears Days will be running until June 7th, I’d be sure to double check some of the items as their discounted prices may not be around for quite as long.

For instance, this Kenmore 28 cu. ft. 4-Door, French Door Bottom Freezer Refrigerator (Stainless Steel) is only being sold for the reduced price of $2,999.99 until June 3rd. This markdown makes for a remarkable savings of $700, as the fridge was previously being sold for $3,699.99.
