As you’ll remember from our post this morning about Walmart Canada’s change to their home shipping charges, they will no longer be offering free-shipping on all orders with no minimum purchase required. This change will come into effect on April 2nd, so if you are shopping online at Walmart before then I’d suggest taking advantage of their free-shipping offer before they change to requiring you to spend a minimum of $50. Some of the hottest deals you will find within their clearance sale, is within their toys department.

Within the toys sale, I was able to find a number of hot discounts on popular toys for kids that are being discounted by up to 50% off the regular price. Unfortunately, when great toys like these are being sold at even better prices, the availability of the products is inevitably going to go fast, so a lot of these toys may not stick around for very long. Especially toys like these sets from the Princess Sofia collection, where you can buy a Sofia the First Royal Coach for half-off the original price, now only $15, and a Sofia the First Slumber Party 3-pack set for just $20 (originally $29.94). If you’d prefer just the original Sofia the First doll for your child’s collection, then you should check out this Sofia Vanity which is also just $20 (was $29.94).

The other day we introduced you to the Canadian online tax service, Turbo Tax Canada, and explained how they offer an online service that makes doing your taxes simple and stress free all at an affordable price. The prices shown on the website already reflect the final discounted price, so there is no need to worry about entering in any coupon or promo code to receive your extra 50% off.

Call It Spring Canada is also having a limited time offer where you can receive free-shipping on all orders with no minimum purchase required. Combining this offer with the 50% off sale on boots, you could really stand to save big time if you’re shopping online at Call It Spring. For instance, these Borgomaro ankle booties from Call It Spring are currently on sale for just $32.49, though they were previously being sold for $69.99. Though they are being sold as ‘winter boots’, I believe these round toe ankle boots could work well into the spring with skirts and dresses, as the textile detailing on the outside of the boots provides some well needed ventilation.

It was bound to happen sooner or later, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. I had just hoped that Walmart Canada’s free-shipping on all orders offer would stick around for a while longer, as they are one of the few e-retailers who still offered this service. Not only is Walmart changing their shipping services so that they no longer offer free-shipping on all orders with no minimum purchase required, but they are upping their free-shipping threshold to a whopping $50. This does seem to be the standard minimum threshold that most retailers offer, but to go from having no minimum to $50 seems like a bit of an unfair jump.

Walmart, however, will continue to offer free-shipping on all orders that are sent to one of the more than 5,000 pickup locations across the country, and there will be no minimum purchase required for these orders. If you do select to have your order shipped to your home, and you are below the $50 minimum, then you will have to pay $4.97 in shipping and handing fees, which to be fair, is not as bad as some retailers shipping fees.

Hopefully Walmart will consider having free-shipping days with no minimum purchases required, or even run promotional events where they cover the shipping with a promo code. We will just have to wait and see.

This new shipping offer will come into effect on April 2nd, so if there are any products below $50 that you would like to buy before the shipping minimum increases, I’d suggest you act now on those purchases.
