For the next four days only, Lowe’s Canada will be hosting one of their Save the Tax events that will be offered exclusively on all major appliances. If you are shopping online you will have to use the promo code, SAVETHETAX, to receive the 11.5% off on your order total. Whereas if you’re shopping in-store, the tax deduction will vary by province.

The tax savings by province will be as such at Lowe’s Canada for those of you shopping in-store:

• British Columbia: 12% savings
• Ontario: 13% savings
• Saskatchewan: 10% savings
• Alberta: 10% savings

In tax-free events like the one currently going on at Lowe’s, ending on April 26th, it would be wise of you to purchase larger ticket items that you may have been holding out on for a decent sale. This is because the tax would ordinarily make these already quite expensive appliances, like refrigerators and ovens, much more pricey.

• Click here to begin shopping the tax-free event at Lowe’s Canada,
• or here to check out this week’s flyer from Lowe’s.

The sale of the season has begun at Roots Canada, that is their Customer Appreciation Sale has begun where they will take 25% off on your entire order no matter what you are buying. This event takes place but once a year, but when it does roll around it is an excellent time to take advantage of whether you are shopping within the sale section or the new arrivals section.

Roots will be hosting the Customer Appreciation Sale starting today at 10am EST and will be running it until April 26th at 11:59pm EST. The sale will be available to both online and in-store shoppers, but the 25% off will not include the tax on items after the discount has been applied.

For instance, these kids Kerry Slim Sweatpants, which I found tucked away within the sale section, were originally being sold for $36 but were marked down to $25.88. With the extra 25% off, a discount that will be automatically applied to your order with no promo or coupon code, the sweatpants will only cost me $19.41.

Within the women’s sale, I was able to pick out these skinny cozy sweatpants for just $29.99, though their original retail price was $68. There is still a number of sizes available in these sweatpants, and they would truly make a great add-on to your spring wardrobe. The skinny sweats would be great for those days where it’s a little brisker on your walk to the gym, but you can’t justify a breaking out a full sweatsuit.

Roots Canada offers free-shipping on all orders that are $50 or more.

It may not look too much like Spring this morning seeing as how it is snowing in certain parts of the country. However, Gay Lea Canada is sending out their Spring enewsletter, and as always, it contains a link to a fabulous coupon for one of their products.

Check your emails for the latest edition of the Gay Lea News & Moos enewsletter, wherein you will find a link for $1 off the purchase of Nordica cottage cheese. The coupon is printable, and although I much preferred when these were mail to home coupons through webSaver, I am also just happy to have a new coupon for Nordica cottage cheese!

If you do not subscribe to the Gay Lea News & Moos enewsletter, make sure that you sign up here for future editions. If you sign up immediately you may even be sent this current edition. Enter your email address about half way down the page.

Pizza Pizza Canada has brought back their annual campaign, Slices for Smiles, which since its inception in 2007 has collectively fundraised 1.65 million dollars for the Children’s Miracle Network. Last year, the fundraiser brought in 375,000 dollars and this year they aim to beat that amount, and all you have to do help them is buy pizza!

When you purchase either Pizza Pizza’s 10″ Smile Pizzas, which are only $2, or a large cheese pizza, which will only be $6.99, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Slices for Smiles campaign until May 3rd.

You will also have the option to donate some of your own money directly to the charity, should you not want to buy one of the pizza deals from the Slices for Smiles campaign.

Visit a Shoppers Drug Mart location on May 2nd to take part in their annual Spring Beauty Gala event  in support of Look Good Feel Better and The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Tickets cost $10 but include a $5 donation to support LGFB and CBCF depending on province.  Your ticket includes access to complementary makeovers by a Shoppers Beauty Advisor, skin consultations, a free goody bag (samples vary a lot by store and year) and refreshments.

My local store is offering complementary make-overs, gel nail polish applications, skin care consultations, refreshments, goody bags and gifts with purchase plus prize draws every hour with multiple chances to win, and additional draws for larger gift baskets at the end of the day.  Makeovers and “extras” like the nail polish application vary by store, maybe check a few to find the one that suits you.  I like Shoppers Drug Mart makeovers because they do not pressure you to buy every product, just give you a list of the items they used so you can buy whenever.

Since this is a national event, their Optimum offer for the day is likely beauty themed.  Some stores do have very limited space and all have limited goodie bags so RSVP with your local store now!  You may need to make an appointment for makeovers/nail polish.  Last year I bought my ticket about a week before and they gave me extra samples when I booked including a few full size products!

To promote the event, Look Good Feel Better is hosting a twitter party on April 29th.  Join them to chat with hashtag #SDMBeautyGala for a chance to win one of five $100 Shoppers Drug Mart gift cards.  The twitter party runs from 9-10 p.m. Eastern.  Get more details here.
