Today is the day to get your (first of three) HST transition cheque. If you filed your 2009 income tax and have direct deposit, you should of received it in your bank account today, otherwise there is a mailed cheque coming your way. The amount you get varies depending on your marital status, single people get $100 and couples/families get $330. There are three payments throughout the year.

It’s the government’s way of returning a small part of the taxes that we already pay to make us less angry about the extra HST that we are going to be paying on everything, like gasoline. So ya it’s nice to get some “extra” money but in the long run, we are going to be paying a lot more for everything.

In the Zellers (June 11 – 17, 2010) flyer, Colgate Toothpaste (75 – 130 mL) is advertised for $1. Use your Save $1 on Colgate Total Toothpaste coupon and get it for free! People have found these in their dentist’s office so if you’re due at the dentist this week, ask if they have these coupons. There are also $1.50 off Colgate Advanced Health Toothpaste coupons out there, but I doubt these would be accepted as they exceed the cost of the product.

This weeks Walmart flyer has Purina Beneful Prepared Meals dog food on sale 3 for $4.98. There are $1.25 off coupons that came in the May 15th issue of the Smart Source coupon insert. So if you have three of these coupons it works out to just $0.41 each. If you don’t have this one there are buy one get one coupons on save.ca. With the BOGO coupon it works out to $0.83 each. Either way much cheaper that the $3 each regular price tag most store have. The flyer runs from June 9th to the 15th.

In the Shoppers Drug Mart (June 12 – 18, 2010) flyer, Garnier Fructis is advertised for $2.99. Use your $2 off any Fructis Styling product from websaver.ca and pay only $0.99 each. If you didn’t get them from websaver.ca, it’s still available at save.ca here. I wish I had more of these coupons since the Fructis Sleek and Shine anti-frizz serum is my favourite. I’ve seen them priced as high as $5.99 so paying only $0.99 each is a steal.
