Tips to maximize your savings:

1. Find stores that have rewards programs – I shop at The Barn (Air Miles), Shopper’s Drug Mart (Optimum Points), Zellers (HBC Rewards) and Real Canadian Superstore (PC Points). Of course, I shop at other stores as well if they have great deals, but I love the above stores because of their rewards programs.

2. Combine coupons with sales – This is the number one way that you will receive great savings. Know when your stores’ flyers come out and compare these sales with the coupons you have on hand. If you have a bunch of coupons for a sale item and the price, after coupon, makes the item free or close to it, go ahead and grab a bunch and stock up.

With father’s day right around the corner, I’m sure there are many of you still wondering what to get that great father of yours. Am I right? Here are some ideas that won’t leave you scrambling for money under the cushions.

1. Photo Frame – All parents love and appreciate photos of their children. So why not take a very special photo of your father and yourself and put it in a nice, but inexpensive frame? This kind of gift will never go out of style!

2. Gift Basket – All those freebies and cheap items you’ve been getting from couponing are taking up too much space in your home, so why not give your dad a basket filled with things he can use. You don’t really need 30 razors do you? Give dad a few! Shaving cream, shampoo, soaps, toothpaste and much more can go in these baskets and since you paid next do nothing for these items, this is a very frugal gift idea!

Today I went into Blockbuster to rent some movies. When I was paying for the movies the clerk mentioned if I renew my membership I can receive a preview movie valued at $6.99 for free. My membership renewal was not due until November. So I did.  I received a free movie, used a $2.00 coupon. Found out I had a free rental for one of the rentals. So I saved money.  I do not know if this is offered in every area but it was in my location.
