Hello! I’m a new blogging contributor to the site so I thought I’d introduce myself. My name is Kerri and I’ve been a member of the site for some time now. I’m very excited to have the opportunity to post here on a fairly regular basis.
Who am I? Well, I’m sort of a serial contester. Apparently it was destined to happen. My mom told me that she won a bunch of stuff from Sears for guessing my correct birth date. I don’t remember the first contest I entered or won but recall that my indulgence began around the age of 12 when I started winning radio call-in contests fairly consistently. I became addicted to that lightning-like charge that surged through me when I hung up the phone after winning. Funny how it still happens when I win stuff today! 🙂
I’ve got spring fever now with all the newness! I LOVE it!

Hi Kerri, I just had to reply because your post brought back memories of when I was about 13-14 years old. Too old for outdoor hopscotch and too young to find a summer job I spent my summer months winning radio phone-in contests. I was winning weekly and understand that ‘lightning like surge’ of excitement you were referring to. I never got tired of hearing my name announced on the radio. As for the contest at Sears, I, too, had won the contest for guessing my son’s birth date. I won a $50 Sears gift certificate which came in really handy for all the baby stuff I needed.
Anyway, I look forward to reading your blogs. 🙂
I’m another radio station contest winner. My biggest win was in 1997 when I won a ’97 Jetta. Pretty boring to win CD’s, etc now after a win like that
I love your site, I used to be a radio junkie, I won so much stuff the people at the station office knew me by name and eventually didn’t even ask for an ID. The best thing I ever won??? A gorgeous DIAMOND ring from a station here in Ottawa……. It was close to Christmas and I had been home from the hospital 2 days after having surgery. Sure made my day, week, month……… LOLOL
Kerri, I would love to hear what contests you have won recently…
Hi Kerri, I absolutely know what you mean. I win so often that I have stopped telling people. It is almost embarassing. My husband used to make fun of me but he has stopped now. Quite to the contrary, he has been very disappointed that I have not yet won another trip.
welcome Kerri 🙂
i’d be happy if i won $10 bucks on a lottry ticket:) if you have any advice , i’m all ears. however i am really time limited lately.
Thanks for all the comments!
Nancy: Way to go winning a car! I haven’t done that yet.
Terri: I know what you mean about the radio staff getting to know you! 🙂 I think she even realized that my mom was winning a lot too (with a little help 😉 ) Well done on the ring!
Jenn: Latest wins… a T-shirt, an Annie Lennox CD
Marion Z: Same here! My parents & siblings made fun of me a bit or would ask the latest win. Even my parents’ friends asked. Then they said it was about time for me to win another trip.
Ergo2: Entering lots of contests can be time consuming. There are ways to make it easier. Hmm…I predict a future post on the subject. 😉
Cheers,
Kerri
