Oh I’ve been waiting for this to come around again! With all the FPCs coming out lately, I’ve been saving them to use specifically for this event. Any non-food free product coupons you have, redeem them this weekend. Here is the fine print:
*Excludes alcohol, tobacco, prescriptions, dry cleaning, gas bar, lottery, postal services, and products from third party businesses within our stores. No returns or rainchecks. We reserve the right to limit quantities to reasonable family requirements. Cannot be combined with any other promotional offers. Does not apply to previous purchases.
Thanks so much to cesme77 for posting about this great event!
Is this going to be Loblaws as well?
does this apply for BC as well?
Strange how this event was not advertised in the Ontario flyer.
it even isn’t listed on the ON web site?
I called my local Superstore and yes they are having the No Tax weekend 🙂
awesome i have lots of fpcs 🙂
I went today to RCSS on donmills..its not entirely tax free…HST is not waived 🙁 I ended up paying half of the taxes…i guess thts better than paying full taxes…
Every single FPC I got I had to pay tax on except for the Free Cherrios and Healthy Choice. I was at Walmart yesterday and I had to pay tax on the FPC Vaseline because it didn’t state taxes were included in the coupon and if it did I would have to pay taxes on it anyways because I also used the coupon for the FREE Stayfree and paid taxes on it.
Can someone please enlighten me about FPC coupons involving tax because I always get a hard time so i don’t even bother and I pay the tax anyways.
Thanks:)
I also have the FPC coupon for the Natural Defense Joint Care. It says taxes included but do I pay taxes on it because the max value is $6.99.
Olivia – I have the same issue with using FPCs. Though most of them state that taxes are included in the face value of the coupon, I find that stores (WM, Zellers, RCSS, etc.) still charge the tax on it. The only place that doesn’t charge tax on FPCs is SDM (entered as code 2002 – no optimum points and no tax). I’ve mentioned to cashiers in other stores that the tax is covered by the FPC and they always say they can’t take off more than the actual price of the product. So I don’t bother arguing and just save my FPCs for no tax day at RCSS, no hassles, no arguing.
Read the GST GUIDE! Coupons – “coupons of non specific dollar amount” – “these coupons reduce the selling price BEFORE GST/HST is calculated”. Every Loblaws/No frills etc store in Canada just got an email telling them to stop taxing them. Walmart HO is well aware how they are to be treated.
It does not make nay different if it says “applicable taxes are included in the face value”, they put that on everything including dollar off coupons that are fully taxable and items that aren’t taxed at all.
If you aren’t capable of looking up the rules and saying something no one can help you

NO
Thanks IRefuseToPayFullPrice. I thought I was the only one with this issue but it doesn’t really bother me because I’m getting the product next to nothing anyways.
@ TAXFREEFPC, I wanted to thank you for helping me understand the FPC coupons more clearly. Sometimes stores likes Walmart make it confusing and frustrating sometimes.

This is helpful, I’m considering printing it out incase I ever have problems with anyone.
taxfreefpc – I wasn’t asking for help. I’m just fine using my FPCs during tax-free days. If you find you can use them anytime without getting taxed then good for you.
