Saran Wrap Canada. Are you gone?

saran

I love the brand Saran wrap.  It’s the only cling wrap that I find does it’s job proper and “clings” to things.  Only problem is I haven’t been able to find it for months.  I’m dead serious. I’ve checked Zehrs, Foodland, Walmart, Zellers, Giant Tiger and other random store I’ve come across.  I cannot find it anywhere.  Not only can I not find it but there is no spot even for it.  I’m sure there has to be old stock at some stores, but is it discontinued?  Is this something I can only get in the USA now?

I just saw this at London Drugs the other day….you probably don’t have and LD where you live. I haven’t actually used Saran Wrap brand in years.

Personally, I love Glad Press n Seal…that sticks to what it’s supposed to…it also sticks to itself and is repositional so if you need to get into the container but want to seal it back up again, you can.

They probably stopped making it because too many people couldn’t see it and ate their food including the saran wrap.

Or, the plastic probably caused too many diseases in laboratory animals so they stopped selling it before we notice the same issues in our children.

Or, you will start noticing saran wrap in your “Fall Fashions” catalogues, so it was bought up to make enough see through skirts, vests, and neck ties.

I have an Ezee Wrap 1000. (maybe a western Canada thing?) It is the absolute best. The refills that you buy for it are 1000 ft long and it works better than any packaged wrap I have ever used. If you can find it it is well worth the $20 to buy it and the $10 for refills.

  5. Xina says:

I just went to the website for the e-zee wrap and the price is a little bit higher than what we can buy here in the stores. But I guarantee it is absolutely worth it. I wouldn’t use anything else.

If it’s Canadian shouldn’t it be E-Zed Wrap (my favourite rock band being Zed Zed Top of course)! 😉

I just bought 3 x 60m rolls at Walmart a few days ago…weirdly, the 60m was cheaper than the 30m. And of course I used coupons and the balance was covered by overages on other products : )

  9. Carole says:

My Giant Tiger in Kemptville, On sells it!

  12. Sally says:

  13. Elle says:

  15. FallenPixels says:

  17. Kim Payne says:

Safeway on the West Coast has it still.

  18. Robbie says:

    sobeys, regular stocked item

  19. curls says:

I just bought some at safeway

  20. Zay says:

Yes you can get it at Giant Tiger- just picked up some the other day.

  21. Sally says:

Nothing here at all, not even spaces for it.

Theres no way that my Walmart just decided not to carry it, I wonder if its just exsisting stock.

  22. Carol says:

Funny, just last night I was looking for anything other than Glad Cling Wrap (which clings to nothing but itself annoyingly) and couldn’t find anything. Guess I’ll go hunting for it too.

  23. Tivabee says:

Just bought some at No Frills in Toronto. Loblaws has it as well.

  24. JRR says:

Costco sells their own brand Kirkland wrap and it is just as good as any of the popular brands. It is a huge box (I think over 3000 ft of wrap) for about $12. I stopped buying saran at regular stores long ago!

  25. PWest says:

If it was just old stock it wouldn’t have valid coupons on it.

Maybe people should be putting their cities and provinces in their posts so you can keep track. I’m in Gananoque, ON and I haven’t actively seen it (though I haven’t been looking, we use those little ones with the ribber band around it and re-wash, no cling required) and I also work in retail and we don’t sell it, but some stores do have certain brand contracts and we carry Ziplock and Glad products and our own brand so… I’m no help really. Other than the valid coupon thing.

  26. Rayraycanuck says:

I saw it today, but hey I am in Iqaluit.. who knows how long it has been on the shelve.

  27. Carina says:

Interesting that some people are recommending the Glad Press and Seal. I hate that stuff because I find that it leaves a sticky residue on my glass and ceramic bowls, and won’t stick at all to plastic bowls.

  28. webbygrrl says:

I like the No Name (yellow box) stuff you can get at Independent or probably the Superstore. I find it’s really clingy. Besides that, the best is the big boxes you can buy from people trying to raise money for their clubs.

  29. Rubber Duckie says:

We can get it pretty much anywhere, but mostly in the cheaper stores like Dollarama, The Bargain Shop, Hart. I haven’t checked Walmart or Zellers. If its american now, maybe it will be in Target stores when they’re finally set up!

  30. Mrstangmywah says:

I think I bought it at London Drugs once … but I’m currently using the Kirkland brand one and it clings onto things pretty nicely!!

  31. Mrstangmywah says:

    Kirkland (costco)

  32. mcminsen says:

I saw “Saran Cling Plus” at Safeway yesterday in Vancouver. The word Saran was small and the Cling Plus was BIG. Is Saran being rebranded to Cling Plus?

  33. Jen says:

Have you ever consider contacting them directly to ask where you can get your hands on some in your area? I’m sure they know who their carriers are, and sometimes most companies are nice enough to answer your questions.

  34. Nancy says:

I was told by the store manager at Sobey’s that Glad bought Saran and that’s why it’s gone.

  35. Shirley Stawnychy says:

i’m totally with you on the saran wrap – it was the best of the best – only place i can find it in edmonton now is Safeway
