Shoppers Drug Mart Canada Bonus Repemption Nov 28 & 29!!

Canadian Deals & Coupons

huge_89_449173And the day that we’ve all been waiting for, Bonus Redeption Day at Shoppers Drug Mart!  The big day will be November 28 & 29!  For all of you who have reached the maximum number of optimum points this is the day to spend them.  On Bonus Redeption Day your redeption amount increases.  So if you have 40,000  points you get $100 (extra $25) and if you have 75,000 you get $200 (extra $50) to spend!  This is a fantastic day to do a bunch of Christmas shopping, buy yourself a new camera or stock up on free food and other neccessities.  You can’t beat getting more free items can you?  And don’t forget you can still use coupons to maximize your purchases.

I don’t think I’ll have nearly enough points to make this Bonus Redeption Day practical for me (I’m pretty new to Optimum points), so I’m going to keep saving them up for the next one.  I can’t wait to see your great purchases in the brag section!

Huge thank you goes out to kato for the heads up on this great event!

I have 40,000 pts and I tried to get a $75 SDM GC last night with my opt pts and they wouldn’t let me. This is a good deal, but im pretty much stocked up right now for the winter.

  2. The_Scarecrow says:

Maybe i’ll save for next year and get a Wii.

  3. andreakralj says:

This is a great deal! I save my points up all year and cash them in for Christmas ‘loot’…..

  4. Jessica says:

I was just wondering if I have 15,000 points can I cash that in for 30,000 points or do I have to have the maximum number of points like was stated in the message?

  5. SandraY says:

Does Shoppers Drug Mart have the bonus redemption day only before Christmas or do they have it a few times a year?

  6. Kim says:

Ok, so what am I missing here?

To me SDM has always been on the expensive side and I only go there when I absolutely have to (ie- Kid’s fever at 11 pm & out of Motrin). So how are you racking up all these points with out spending and arm and a leg when just generally buying stuff?

I’m really curious about this as I would love to save up points and get something great!

Kim, Shoppers has good deals in the flyers I find. The two day specials are usually awesome buys. The milk, eggs, butte,r and bread are the same price as everywhere else (or cheaper when advertised) so I get them there to earn points. I also shop when they have the 20x the points events (When you spend $50). Although I didnt shop yesterday cause there wasnt enough good deals for me to be able to spend $50. I usually redeem twice a year.

  8. Emily says:

    Kim,
Lots of people wait until 15x or 20x the points days to buy things. Sometimes there are also coupons for bonus points on certain products sent to your email if you’ve signed up to receive emails from them (they are posted on SC too most of the time).
Other products can sometimes have their own separate bonus points for buying a certain amount of them.
Another great thing to do is on the 15x or 20x the points day use coupons. I have found that you can still get the bonus points even if you use, say, $10 in coupons making it under the minimum spent. Make sense?

  9. sharp1 says:

I’ve been waiting for this too. I have over 100,000 points right now so I’m going to see if I can get $300 worth of stuff.

The best part is now that I’m an optimum member, I get more points back when I redeem the points I do have.

@Kim: I too only buy stuff on sale unless absolutely necessary. I also use the extra bonus coupons in Glow magazine and shop the 20X days. It’s amazing how quickly I rack up the points.

  10. Kim says:

    Thanks for the information!

I guess it’s my own fault for just automatically tossing the SDM flyer when it comes in with the assumption that they are pricey. I’ll give them a second look now and sign up for the optimum card.

Thanks again for taking the time to train a “newby”!!

  11. armaan says:

I have 39000 points and i would like to add 1000 more within next few days? do you know the best way to get 1000 points within 5 days?
How many gift cards i habe to buy to get 1000 points?

  12. The_Scarecrow says:

    armaan…. a $100 GC will get you 1000 pts

  13. Lili says:

do you know if I can redeem the points for a gift card?!

  14. Polina says:

Buy 4 Hershey Christmas Cellos($2.49 each) get 2000 bonus points!!!

  15. Treya says:

K can somebody explain some stuff for me.

1.What’s the max you can reach in points?
2.Can you redeem two points totals in one order?
Like 2 x 75,000 pts in one order or would I have to do 2 orders?

    Thanks a bunch!

  16. Sheila says:

Hi Treya, there is no max # of points you can reach, but you can only redeem 75,000 points at once, and if you want to redeem more, you’ll need to do it in two transactions =)

I’m SOOOO excited for this, I already have a list of things I want to get =)

  17. The_Scarecrow says:

Lili…. I tried to redeem my pts for a gift card last night and they said I can’t.

  18. Mark says:

is there a bonus on the 30k points level?

  19. star84 says:

I’m extremely excited about this! I have over 80,000 points right now so I’ve been waiting for these bonus redemption days. I’m looking at getting the Wii : )

  20. Joanne says:

is it going to be $200 redemption in bc too?

  21. Sheila says:

I think in BC, it won’t be. It traditionally has been lower in BC, like get $180 instead of $150 or something.

  22. S j says:

I am quiet dumb at this . Can somebody pls suggest whats the cheapest way to get 2000 points to reach the 40, 000 points mark . Thanks !

  23. sharp1 says:

Take a look at Polina’s post above. 2000 points for under $10 is really good.

  24. Dinglehopper says:

I only have enough for the regular $25 redemption level… would there be a bonus for this level or would it just be $25?

  25. Tara says:

For those needing some last minute points:
Starting on the 28th as well…..

5000 points for purchasing a $100 AMEX gift card.
2000 points for purchasing a $50 AMEX gift card.

There are fees to activate the card:
    * $4.95 + applicable taxes for a $50 Gift Card
    * $5.95 + applicable taxes for a $100 Gift Card
    * $6.95 + applicable taxes for a $200 Gift Card

THEN USE THE AMEX CARD TO PAY FOR YOUR PURCHASES (CARD CAN BE USED ANYWHERE, DOESN’T HAVE TO BE AT SHOPPERS!) 🙂

**FYI, Starting November 28: Wii is on sale for $199, Samsung Blu-Ray Player on sale for $199**

  26. mcminsen says:

The AMEX gift card can be used anywhere? Or anywhere that American Express cards are accepted? How about Costco?

  27. Suzanne LeBlanc says:

I got my Optimum Card a long time ago and I am just now starting to see the potential. I too only buy things on special at Shopper’s. Thanks so much for the sharing here! I am slow to learn but I am getting there.

  28. carlycanadian says:

Thank you! I reached 77,000 points on Saturday! Bought a Sony cybershot camera (the pink one) for Xmas gift!($164.99 plus tax, it includes case, memory card, rechargeable battery thingy & CD & plugin thing for computer!) Bought a GC 1st for $200 & got 2000 points then used the GC to buy camera! Got over 34,000 points! Thanks for the tips SC!
I use bonus coupons as much as possible for stuff I use anyways & buy grocery deals when on sale at SDM & use the 10,000 bonus coupons when they are posted….this will be my 2nd redemption since I joined SC in May! YAY! 🙂

  29. tammysyb says:

Happy, happy, happy–I have 109,000! So I’m going to redeem 75,000 for 200.00, then take the remaining 34,000 plus the bonus 10,000 from the first redemtion (I’m Plus) to get another 100.00. Great for Christmas time! Does anyone know if there’s any big deals for Saturday on cameras or anything like that? Do they have the GPS this year?

  30. Kipper says:

Hopefully it won’t be just on Cosmetic purchases like they usually do!

  31. Vivi says:

Just called SDM customer service and the bonus redemption is only $170 and not $200 ($200 is just in limited areas only). That’s not good!!!!

  32. Lesley says:

A TIP to those of you planning to purchase a Wii. (we did last Christmas) Be sure to call your store, say Friday evening, to make sure they have some in stock! I live in Ottawa and had to call 4 stores before I found one with Wiis in stock. Then, make sure you get there before the store opens on Saturday. My husband went 1/2 hour early and there were 4 people already lined up ahead of him – and they all wanted Wiis! The store only had 6 in stock and they were gone in the first minute of opening. Good luck!

  33. Chantal says:

I got a Nintendo DS at SDM for 99.00. That’s a way better price than Zellers or Walmart has it. And, I find the milk there to be the cheapest of any grocery store. They do have good sales.

  34. Nikki says:

I did this last time it was on. All you need is a minimum of 40, 000 points to get $100 in products- you cant get giftcards with it though. But it was right before my husbands birthday last time and I was able to get a nintendo ds and nintendo wii for rediculously cheep— I think all I had to do was pay the taxes!

  35. Lili says:

    Thanks The_Scarecrow for you answer…

  36. Ashley says:

I hate that western canada is getting shafted with only a $10 or $20 bonus. I remember a few years ago when the bonus on redeeming 75000 points was $100!! That was like heaven! A $250 shopping spree, lol!! Oh well….$20 extra free bucks is still $20 bucks I didn’t have before

  37. mcminsen says:

When the SDM execs decided that BC and some other provinces would get a lower bonus redemption level they attribute it to their marketing plan. My neighbourhood is saturated with SDMs (6 within walking distance), so they are dominating the market here and don’t need to be as competitive. Oh well, more SDM clearance racks for me to keep an eye on. 🙂

  38. Ashley says:

Is that why?? That sucks!! I have two available to me in a 100+ mile radius so I am definitely NOT saturated with choices!!! Either way there is nothing that could make me stop collecting, I love my shoppers points! lol

  39. The_Scarecrow says:

I went to my SDM 1 hr after opening and they still had 3 Wii systems and no one in the store. Im definitely going to save my pts for this next year… only 34,000 pts to go or spend $50 3 times during the 20x the pts events.

  40. Sheila says:

My neighbourhood shoppers had started their promotion on the Friday, and extended it to Sunday. I was so happy because some of the stuff I wanted was limited edition, and apparently when I called in ahead, they said it was the last one so they would hold it for me. Of course I immediately went and grabbed; while I was there, the lady told me that other people had asked for it after I called, so I’m glad I called early.

I’m in Kingston, ON and there are SO many SDMs, probably one every few blocks. There are 3 within walking distance of my house, so I’m not complaining, there are lots of stuff to choose from!
