The__Rock has confirmed the much anticipated news of the gift card promotion at Shoppers Drug Mart this year. Buy two gift cards totalling $150 from November 9th to 15th and earn 8000 bonus points. 8000 Optimum points is worth $1o at the lowest redemption level or about $14-15 at the larger redemptions at Christmas.
You will only get this offer once per transaction so if you want to buy $300 in gift cards, split it up into two separate transactions and points are added at a later date, so make sure you keep those receipts. Check with your local store to see what payment forms they accept for gift card purchases as many of our forum members have mentioned that their store does not accept credit cards or Shoppers Drug Mart gift cards for other gift card purchases.

@Debbie the official terms have not been released but it was last year. Some people had issues reloading old cards though, so get new ones from the rack

can you use them on 20xs the points days, and get those points as well?
silentbob, you do not gt 20x on GCs, just base points (and only on SDM GCs) but you can buy them and use them to buy items on 20x days
If it is the same term as previous years you could buy two Shoppers GC totalling $150; get the bonus 8000 points, the 1500 points for buying the cards and if you are buying the card with your Optimum Mastercard you then get another 2250 points for a total of 11,750 points.
You can also purchase other gift cards; you would get the 8000 points but you do not get the 1500 points for buying the cards.
All the stores do not allow the purchase of gift cards with a credit card so this might be different for you depending on what your store allows.
Does it have to be 2 GC’s say at $75 each or is it atleast 2 GC’s but could be 4 GC’s totallong $150?
@Rosa, you can buy more than 2, I got 6 TimCards for gifts for delivery people etc last year and got the points

For ex, if I bought Shopper’s gift cards (to get 8000 pts), then later used those gift cards to buy Petro gift cards (and get another 8000 pts)?
Julie, mine does not allow you to buy other GCs with SDM GCs (or cell phone cards, transit passes etc) as there is large fraud with SDM GCs, but I know others can so check with your store

I work for shoppers and my store does not allow purchasing Gift cards with a Shoppers Gift card.
I’ve always been allowed to purchase gift cards with a gift card, so you should always check with your store first. Happy shopping 🙂

does anyone know a shoppers in the hamilton-burl-oak-missis area that has a really good selection of gift cards? i havent purchased one from shoppers before so i have not really paid attention to availability. thanks!
Jayco the Upper James Hamilton store by Walmart has a decent selection (some in racks, some with greeting cards and some at counter) and Mapleview usually does too at the back entrance behind the cash but they go quickly from all stores in this promo so call ahead if you want a specific one
do you know if these are bonus points in addition to lets say 1500 point for buying the $150 in gift cards? do you even get points for not shoppers cards?
