Starbucks Canada: Earth Day Free Coffee Or Tea When You Bring In A Reusable Cup!

starbucks-canada

On April 22nd to celebrate Earth Day Starbucks is offering a free coffee or tea when you bring in your reusable mug. They’ve offered this freebie for quite a few years now and it’s a great incentive to reuse your mug. Is there anything special you will do on Earth Day? I was thinking I might get dressed before noon and go work on my garden.

Bumping up from March 22nd as a reminder 🙂

why april 22? earthday is actually mar 26 …

  4. Twinmommy says:

    Great post! I’m there too!

  5. Dylan says:

April 22 is good Friday. I wonder how many people will get the deal considering it is a holiday. These deals are normally on a work day as I usually hit them up for free coffee a few times a day.

  6. sally says:

Earth day is April 22nd, Earth Hour March 26th.

  7. Rachel says:

Can we bring any mug or thermos? or does it have to be from Starbucks?

  8. ninna says:

    Mmmm. Starbucks.

I would like to be there for my free coffee-but my conscience gets the better of me. It’s a 15 minute drive to my nearest Starbucks. LOL. And driving 15 minutes for a free coffee in my reusable mug kinda seems to defeat the whole “earth week” thing, a little…doesn’t it?

    *shrugs*

  9. Cindy Nolt says:

maybe i will try to get dressed before noon too! lol!!

  10. Skippy says:

You can take any mug from anywhere, however they will not fill up a thermos.

  11. Tea-aholic says:

Has the tea part been verified? The last couple of years, I have been told, both by customer service and the baristas that you could not get tea instead of coffee.

  12. Stacy says:

is the mug for them to fill up or will they take your mug?

  13. Jor says:

Starbucks is also having a 20% on all mugs and tumblers for that day. No purchase limits.

  14. Jor says:

And tea is also part of the deal. One free tea or coffee per customer while quantities last.

  15. Steve says:

Reusable cups are great for the environment, but I personally think it’s kind of gross. I once saw a guy rest a reusable cup on top of the urinal in the restroom, while he peed. 5 mins later I saw the same cup on the serving counter, while it was being refilled by the employee. =S

What else happens to these cups, that we don’t know about?!?

Same thing happens when you go down south to resorts. I see everyone using reusable cups, while the bartender touches the beer tap inside the same cup. That’s a GREAT way to spread germs. I actually caught a head cold while on vacation in Cuba last year. Wonder if I caught it from a tainted tap?

  16. Sally says:

All the Legions i’ve been in reuse the beer mugs too tapping them on the side. Nice eh.

  17. erin says:

this is perfect as i will be at school studyng for my last final (day after earth day) and we have a starbucks nearby!

  18. TallNFunny says:

I am really baffled at how few people I see who buy their coffee everyday and can’t be bothered to use a reusable cup…

  19. frugal.tea says:

You had me at tea 🙂 Thanks

  20. Momof3crazyboys says:

I know at Tim Hortons they are allowed to use a spoon in their cups to stir in your sugar, cream what have you, However if you bring in a ReFillable Mug, they have to use a Stir Stick not to contaminate or pass on Germs/Bacteria from cup to cup… the Stir Stick they then throw away.

I’m another one that first thought “Ah it’s Good Friday”…so I definitely won’t be going out of my way, wasting gas in order to get a free coffee. Had it been a work day, I may have taken them up on the offer.

@Steve…. reusable or disposable – if someone is going to take their cup and place it on top of a urinal, they’re going to do it no matter what kind of cup they have in hand. It is gross either way.

@TallNFunny – sometimes people forget them. I have several and every now and then I forget it.

  22. Selm says:

I think I’ll pick up my free beverage then wander down to vote in the advance polling (which I’m still amazed is on a federal holiday)

  23. Elizabeth Blaze says:

If only I had a Starbucks in walking distance. Somehow getting in the car and driving there kinda defeats the purpose of the offer doesn’t it?

  24. Disappointed soul... says:

    Peterborough, ON
Starbucks is closed today 🙁 both the drive thru and chapters…

  25. Shel says:

    @Steve

hmm, i think it’s best that you lock your front door and stay inside for the day. and just think! the weekend’s here too, so you don’t have to go outside! 🙂

…it’s dangerous out there, what, with all the germs and traffic and stuff.

  26. mhk says:

Took DH and went and got 2 free coffees at drive thru, then went to McD and used the buy one get one free egg mcmuffin coupons 🙂 Ahh what a posh and cheap way to have a fun breakfast!

The girl at the drive through was so pleasant too – so that was an added bonus. They are offering their gold blend and the pike roast. Also tea.

  27. not going to leave a name says:

    that’s pretty cool.

  28. gadi says:

i was charged $2. better not promise anything you are not going to delivered…

  29. Porkaroo says:

@mhk – didn’t those McDonalds coupon expire already?

    @gadi –
Did you remember your reuseable mug?
They shouldn’t have charged you if you did.
Provided they were participating in the promotion.

I got my two mugfuls at two different Starbucks without a problem in downtown Toronto.
    Until next year!

  30. kerry says:

I brought my own tall steel cup to the Starbucks at Sears downtown and enjoyed their new coffee,Tribute for free.I was going to sears to pick up my Estee Lauder gift with purchase, anyways….

  31. THorsten says:
