This is a sweet deal that was posted by our awesome Scer Fallen Pixels.  Donate any of your old electrical hair stylers to Trade Secrets and until October 1st receive 50% off a new GS professional flat iron or blow dryer.  These flat irons are really nice and you might as well grab your old crimper and trade it in for 50% off.  Although you’d have to wrestle me for my crimper, I freaking love adding a few crimps on girls nights in.

The heading’s use of “any old electrical hair styler” vs. the ad’s “gently used” phrase show some disparity in meaning. The phrases are not the same–the donated hair dryers have to still work, no matter how old they are. If the dryers have been out of use because they need repair work, I’d think that store staff would not be keen to accept them. Their store reputation would be on the line, plus head office is likely keeping score on which stores are getting the best response to the promotion. Business 101.

    I meant working ones Lmao

Just wanted to say that I took advantage of this promotion a few years ago and picked up a GS hair straightener. I traded in my gently-used Conair hair straightener which worked great on my friends with fine hair but didn’t have enough power for my thick, Asian hair. The GS straightener is pretty fab, I’ve been using it for three years and it’s still going strong! I think it comes with a three-year or five-year warranty as well, which is redeemable at the STORE; so if it stops working, just bring it in to any Trade Secrets and they’ll trade you for a new one!

As long as you keep the plates clean (wipe with alcohol every week), this straightener will tackle almost anything. It’s just as powerful as my Corioliss, and this is a great promotion!

  4. CAD says:

Does anyone know what is the price (price range) for the GS straightener?

I just called my local one and asked about the flat iron (sorry to anyone who wanted to know the dryer price) it’s $100 regularly, so $50 now, she said they don’t have to be in proper working order. She said they recondition them before donating, and if they have to they use it for parts, so she said they will pretty much accept anything)

About the the flat iron, she said it comes with a 5 year IN STORE warranty (which I already seen was posted but just had to double check because that is amazing! I’ve had so many die and had nothing done for me because my whole 1 year mail in warrant was done) She had said they sold thousands last year they did this at my local store, and had probably only 3 or 4 returned, meaning it works well enough that people keep it.

    I’m excited! lol

The expiry date actually says October 1st, 2010 on the image.

You should probably change it in the description hahaa.

    Hi All,

I’m so happy to see this post on SmartCanucks – being a fan of this deal website myself!

Yes, the appliance trade-in event is already happening now!

From August 14th – October 1st, give your gently used hair styling appliances to any Trade Secrets / Glamour Secrets location, and we’ll donate it them to local women’s shelters – including Rosalie Hall and Yellow Brick House. In the past 3 years, we’ve already donated 12,000 used appliances! This year, we hope to donate 6,000 with your help!

As our thank you, take 50% off a GS Professional Flat Iron or Blow Dryer.

Only the GS Professional brand applies to the offer – while quantities last. Just so you know, GS appliances have a 5-year warranty!!! Just keep your original receipt handy and bring it into any Trade Secrets / Glamour Secrets location within 5 years from the date of purchase, and we’ll give you a replacement product that’s comparable or issue a gift card (important: warranty only applies to manufacturer defects).

In response to Puppylover’s question about a blow dryer with a diffuser, try the following:

TORLEN IONIC BLOW DRYER ($159.99 retail)

RUSK CTC LITE BLOW DRYER ($199.99 retail – a very light blow dryer!)

Check with your local Trade Secrets to find out if they have it in stock – and to answer any other questions you may have.
