Wii Console and Wii Sports Only $99.99 at HMV Canada! *HOT* HURRY

Nintendo Wii

AnneD spotted this awesome deal.  The Wii Console and Wii Sports is only $99.99 at Hmv Canada.  This is an in-store deal only but you can “reserve” one online.  At first I thought it was a pricing error, but apparently its just the older model which doesn’t matter at all.

Just this morning my sister informed me that she was the NYE Wii champion. It was her first time playing and she had a blast. I’ll be thrilled to pass this deal on to her, but I’ve have had no luck finding it available with 25kms of our location….good luck to all those looking

  2. Sally says:

Did you try expanding your search? Sometimes the km ratio is way off. I usually have to put 50km in for a place 15km away.

  3. puddin57 says:

I’ll try it again….I used both my home and work areas….about 40kms apart…but it doesn’t hurt to try agsin

  4. SuperM says:

lol – I did a WIDE search – and it shows only 3 in all of Ontario. Good luck!

It was Newmarket, London, and Oreleans

  5. Jillei says:

no luck for me either. I tried this afternoon and then again now. Does anyone know if any other stores would price match this offer?

  6. jenlively49 says:

    none in the maritimes 🙁

  7. Khristopher says:

Best Buy, Future Shop, and Walmart should. The model number has to be the same though, and Best Buy and Future Shop do not sell that model online from what I could find.

  8. koukla says:

I think Toys r Us does a price match for internet prices, but not 100% sure.

  9. Khristopher says:

I just called Best Buy customer service, and they did it for me.

  10. couponfreak says:

I reserved one hope its there when store opens tommorow.IF its thank you big time mine isnt reading discs anymore found out when I bought a new disc

  11. Khristopher says:

Scratch that, they said no after telling me he would. He went and double checked the models I guess.

  12. sara says:

I was able to reserve one too but when I went back 5 minutes later it said none in stock… hope that it is! Or that they will raincheck it… it said to wait for a call regarding if it is available and they reserve the right to sell to a walk in so not sure how great reserving something is:(

  13. couponfreak says:

yeah I am going in first thing in the morning and grabbing it if its there as a walk in and if they say it reserved I’ll yank out my drivers license and hopefully it will be my reservation not a system that reserves mulitples

  14. sara says:

Ok, nevermind… I searched the wrong thing and reserved the Wii fit bundle – lol! No go for me!

  15. sara says:

    good luck couponfreak!

  16. Kimmie says:

I just reserved one online at HMV. Just wondering if they would send it to a location closer to where i am… 60 km drive to get the wii is a bit far for me…

  17. Sally says:

They went fast thats for sure.

  18. Natalka says:

Why does the picture keep changing?

  19. tess says:

did anyone have success getting this or did anywhere price match it?

Keep in mind that this appears to be an older system since it only includes Wii Sport and not Sports Resort and therefore may not include the built in Wii Motion Plus, which you need to play certain newer games. You can buy it separately but I’d compare the price and see if the save is worth it.
For casual gamers it’s probably not a big deal but I found the add on to be less comfortable and playing without it just isn’t the same.

  21. couponfreak says:

I got the wii today went in right away even tho I reserved it..Havent looked to close but I honestly just wanted to replace my old dead system..so if I have to add wii motion not a biggie as I know have another controller (pretty sure that makes it enough that everyone in the house has one now the motion plus is only 24.00 so still cheaper to buy it for 99 and then add the 24. Most likely if you waited this long to get your first wii you really are just a casual gamer and you are getting a great deal!

I actually reserved a copy in Saskatoon b/c that was the closest location to Winnipeg. I spoke to a staff member at the Saskatoon location who said that they would do a stock transfer to an HMV location in Winnipeg. I’m hoping to pick it up by the end of this week. I’m hoping that this actually works – I’m a casual gamer who rented a console over the holidays (and quickly became addicted to Michael Jackson: the Experience). I’ll keep you guys posted if this works out…

  23. carlotta says:

Reserved one and then got a call from HMV saying they only had one in the store and so far 25 people had reserved it. Not sure why you advertise if they only have one per store and not sure why the website would let you reserve it. So… I guess I’m not getting a cheap wii

  24. Lindsey says:

Thank you so much! I reserved one last night after I saw this and picked it up today (Alberta). Got the last one in the store, my husband is a very casual gamer, and has been wanting one for the past three years – he is in heaven!

  25. Sally says:

Carlotta, I have no control over what store stock is left or how many they had. There were a decent amount when I blogged but its out of my hands if you can get one reserved or not.

  26. Speedytrini says:

carlotta – Now a day, the wii isn’t that expensive.
Sally- Great post!!! You always find great deals!

  27. RuthL says:

I reserved last night in the Surrey BC location and received a e-mail saying someone would contact me in 24 hours… no one has tried to contact me so I phoned and they said that they had sold it 🙁

  28. Wicked Soul says:

no luck in Montreal, i checked a couple of HMV and they have no idea, i even showed them on the website but no chance 🙁

  29. lllol says:

YES, none here either. The associates said they never received any.

  30. carlotta says:

Hey Sally – I didn’t mean YOU shouldn’t advertise! What I meant was I’m not sure why HMV would advertise this if they had such limited stock. Or why their website would let you reserve an item that they don’t have. But then again, I guess that’s how they get people in the store.
Anyway, just wanted to clarify that I wasn’t “dissing” Sally!

  31. Munira says:

Hey I called the Fairview location and the rep said they only have a returned model or display model wich they can’t sell. So she “checked” and found a few stores that had some and reserved one for me at Yorkdale. When I got to Yorkdale they said teh same thing they only have a display model and can’t sell it and the one they reserved was regular price. On top of this she made ME feel like I was crazy to think that I could get a Wii for 99$ and had NO CLUE about this “promo”. So not sure where this info came from but it was quite upsetting and if this was the case for so many then HMV should mis advertised this supposed HOT deal…

  32. Couponclipper373 says:

Good news! The stock transfer from Saskatoon to Winnipeg actually worked (please see my comment above from Jan. 2). I picked up my $99 Wii today. It’s the older version (from 2007), but it’s still a great deal. It’s a funny story though – apparently, when I called the Saskatoon store, I spoke to a new employee who didn’t know their policies about stock transfers. The manager of the store in Winnipeg told me that HMV usually doesn’t do stock transfers unless it’s for a rare item. I think that it’s just shear luck that I was able to reserve it online and get it transferred over at that price (there weren’t any available in Winnipeg). It’s perfect, esp. since my husband and I had lots of fun over the holidays when we rented a Wii console and Michael Jackson: the Experience dancing game. Now we’ll have our own console, so it saves us having to rent one again. Thank you very much for this AWESOME tip Sally…I love Smart Canucks! 🙂
