  2. fery says:

    it’s not 100% yet

  3. Maus says:

    Fery,

NOTHING in this world is 100%…

  4. Lili says:

    sounds great! hope it works!

  5. Kelly H. says:

With the chat and social blackberry plan combined, it would be cheaper for me to pay the $200 fee to cancel out of my Rogers contract and go to Wind. It would only take me 4 months to make up that $200 in savings.

  6. maddie2008 says:

omg, that is way cheaper than i am paying.

we need the competition here to knock the bigger companies down a few notches.

  7. ami says:

I agree…the other big companies that monopolize the cell phone industry would have to follow or be left in the dust.

Having been originally in the states then the UK the last five years, I find the whole mobile thing here so backward….so many things you pay for that you get with other ones for free….
text messages back and forth etc….Almost like the mobile phone industry here is more like the US mobile phone industry when it started way back when.

Come on WIND….get up and running!

  8. Jopava says:

I wish Canada had Verizon Wireless love it maybe one day they open in here!

  9. FunkyMunky says:

don’t forget you have to purchase their own phones – it’s running on a 1700 band
3-band and 4-band phones could not be used if you’re planning to sign up with them

in my eyes it’s not even that great…

  10. Mirian says:

    more competition!!!!!!

  11. Toule says:

It’s sucks they will not come in Quebec!!!

  12. JIM says:

Sure the plan looks good, but wait for the big 3 to make changes to their price plans to retain their customer base, in fact another provider DAVE Wireless is soon coming out in all the Canadian Major cities and that’s the company to lookout for, they enter the market at the right time when the price wars and the dust settles and they are the ones who would exacly offer what the consumer needs. Besides rumor has it that Wind’s network sucks and designed using cheap technology provided by a chinese firm… it will be like buying cellphones from a Dollar store, and we all know how they work…

  13. FunkyMunky says:

I also heard that the frequency they will be operating on will be pretty weak!

  14. Jones says:

Can anyone spot the ROGERS, BELL, TELUS company agents influencing the comments page? I can.

  15. Patrick says:

I was eagerly anticipating the arrival of competition for Rogers, but unfortunately Wind is operating on a frequency band my current phone (Treo 650, yeah I know it’s almost 2010) doesn’t use. So I either stay with Rogers, or go Wind and get a new phone. But then there’s Bell doing a GSM thing next year right? What to do, too many choices LOL I think the oligopoly will always figure out a way to screw us over

  16. BeckyM says:

I use basic cell plans, and it doesnt look “better” to me. Can get close to identical plans from virgin, fido, koodoo, and solo for sure.

  17. mnyyoungs says:

Just like in the early 90s with the Deregulation of long distance…we consumers need the competition! The monopoly rakes us over the coals, takes the money and offers very little in terms of quality customer service and products. I look forward to the upcoming changes and as a smart consumer, will evaluate what is best for me not just based on dollars but on total value.

  18. Islandlakes says:

This is exciting! I am glad that I didn’t decide on a new plan yet.

  19. GRT says:

Given the cost per kilobyte for data with the big three incumbents, on the data side this is a huge win for customers. The Social Blackberry option is going to be a huge hit for addicted facebook users, and given the number of facebook users that are frequent users this is going to be a big hit in the under 20 age group. Currently you can’t get unlimited ‘anything’ with the incumbents.

  20. stef says:

anyone know if the ‘unlimited north american calling’ includes roaming while in the usa.. basically, it would make a plan available that is 100 per month for unlimited North American calling AND roaming with unlimited texting AND unlimited data AND caller id AND voicemail… which is the best plan EVER (unless you get the same thing for less)

  21. stef says:

    oh and Jones..

YAA i can spot them — they need to try a little harder to disguise themselves. they sound like that ‘dude’ no one likes, the one who just says everything sucks because they cant have it… lol

  22. FunkyMunky says:

Stef and Jones – take those tin foil hats off and get over yourselves.

  23. findmel says:

actually i heard they are based out of Egypt–possibly could mean a loss of canadian jobs……

  24. Why so defensive FunkyMunky? Dead give away. Two thumbs up Jones.

  25. Nicolle says:

ya, having a differing opinion than the rest of the comment section is a dead give away to a corporate shill!!

  26. gomo2010 says:

What hasn’t been stated, is that it’s my understanding you’ll have to pay full shot for the phone. No free phones, that’s why the rates are low. Not sure if you’ll be able to transfer sim chips between phones either.

Lets’ see what the bottom line is before anyone makes a decison.

  27. gomo2010 says:

Opps missed funkymunky stated what I just did.

  28. Luc N says:

Wow, this will be interesting indeed! I am excited to see what the big three will do to compete with this! It is about time for somne decent good old competition that will benefit all of us consumers.

  29. sapphire says:

New wireless entrant DAVE Wireless said it is on schedule to launch its network in early 2010. Name will change when the company enters the market. Curious to see what they will offer.

  30. jcompas says:

I am planning to purchase a phone during my trip to Hong Kong. I just wonder what would work for Wind or Dave wireless network…

  31. G says:

Well there Funky; I don’t think i should pay someone a high amount of money just so that they can have a “Canada Job”. Rather pay another Canadian a decent amount of money so they can make a cheep ******* company for my cell phone, but en-tell that happens I’ll be VIOLENTLY SLASHING JOBS!

  32. Violet says:

for me the most imporatan thing is the plan is it cheap or is it cheaper the amount of money we pay for cell phone in this country is robbery compare to uk

  33. Violet says:

why is canada so behind when comes to cell-phone planes it’s shamefull

  34. Jimmy Big Three says:

Wind Mobile has a pathetic coverage area. If you should leave the confines of their “Home Zone” or even travel to the fringe of the Home Zone you will pay for voice and data roaming charges as you will be using Rogers’ network. Also, as much as people complain about contracts, they dont want to pay for their own phones. The Big Three will adjust their rates just as soon as Wind brings a compareable network to the table.

  35. Bill says:

Wind is a total failure. In 6 months they haven’t been able to fix dropped calls yet they continue to expand to other cities while Toronto is nowhere near fixed. The CSR also sucks, the phones sucks, the stores sucks and the website is not accessible half of the time. I can’t even talk to people with a wind phone because it keeps cutting out. They also cut you off the line if you talk for too long. People are fooled in to thinking these are great rates but this is actually a start up rate because nothing works, if they ever get around to fixing this garbage the rates will double.

  36. Paul says:

    Bill,

You are a tech retard how is the web site offline 1/2 the time?!?!? This is why the internet is a dangerous thing 1d10t’s like you can post your opinions.

Who cares if Wind sucks speak with retentions and see what they can do for you I got the unlimited data and calling from Fido I would rather pay them than Wind mobile for a network that works.

  37. What did you have your settings on if u don’t mind me asking?Did u have wifi and Bluetooth on? Brightness? Push mail on or off? Thanks

  38. I have been looking everywhere for something like this!
