I don’t know why I was so surprised by this, but I was surprised enough to snap a photo. Turns out every Wednesday students and seniors save 10% on all purchases. While that doesn’t apply to the majority of shoppers out there, I know I’ll be doing all my Bulk Barning with a school-bound friend or my mommy on Wednesdays from here on out. 😉
Anybody know of other places with great deals for senior and student SmartCanuckers?
I wish stores would ‘get it’
instead of giving JUST Seniors and Students discounts
why not the rest of us?
sigh
Yes but they have coupons for everyone-10%
GREY POWER we earned it!
Anyone know what age they consider to be senior?
They probably assume 65+ as senior?
The wording is totally weird. It’s probably there error,
but it almost sounds like every wednesday they give
EVERYBODY the same discount students & seniors get.
No, it really doesn’t. I have no idea what would make you think it sounds like the discount is for everyone when it says the discount is on Wednesdays and specifically says for seniors and students.
Haha…I used the wrong their.
Their, there, here, hear…stupid english.
The “a” should be before “discount”…
Last time we shopped at bulk barn on a Wednesday the clerk would not give us the discount because she said”everything we bought was on sakea’. This is a crock. You price things as you please and say they are on sale so you don’t have to give the discount.
We are not happy.
I ALWAYS go to Bulk Barn on Wednesdays after my lectures :P.
I work at Value Village and we give Seniors 20% off discount on Tuesdays and Students 20% off discount on Wednesdays. Seniors are considered anyone 60+ and students are anyone who has a valid student ID (let it be grade school to university)
A discount for everyone: Cheap Tuesday’s @ the movies.
It’s $4/person at Rainbow Cinema’s and $5 @ select Cineplex Theatres (SilverCity Newmarket and I forget the rest).
Ive seen this sign a million times and I never noticed the wierd wording. Very observant Anita:)
every wednesday???? usually stores run it once a month..wow.. i wonder what age they consider a senior? (not all is 65, some start as early as 55). my dh might qualify.
I don’t think the wording sounds weird.
I do, however, like the reflection in the window!
Yep every wednesday. That’s when i do my bulk barn shopping. It’s been like that for a while. Students need their student card (just a quick glance that u really have it) and seniors are 65+.
That IS funny wording though – makes it sound like everyone gets the discount, but they don’t.
Is this still available now, i mean the 10% student discount on wednesday? I’m in st john’s newfoundland
nothing incorrect with ” we give a blank and blank discount”…
it’s ‘a (whatever) discount ‘.

excellent post, very informative. I ponder why the opposite experts of this sector don’t realize this. You should proceed your writing. I’m confident, you’ve a great readers’ base already!
Just ensure that your discount is applied and applied in full! My husband just returned home and was given a ‘discount’ of $1.25 on a before tax subtotal of $21.81.
I called and received no satisfaction over the phone (discount will not be applied to sale items?) and will be taking my bill into the store.
If the discount does not apply to items on sale the advertising is misleading and illegal as far as I am concerned.
I went back yesterday to confront them on this very thing and they informed me that it is only on regular price items. I have been looking everywhere to find where it says this. I am not happy at all.
The sign in the photo literally says specials excluded. Come on. Don’t be such a shitty customer. At least read ALL the words on the sign before running your mouths off.
You mean the black on dark red lettering in small font at the bottom of the sign? Why do you think they make it so hard to read?
It is not true that seniors get a 10% discount on all purchase as some believe.
They give 10% on all product that is not on special…if on special …there is not discount…
The store in port elgin has changed it’s not a good buy like it used to be bought English ass:t liquorice and they were so hard and stale we couldn’t eat them I’m finding that with a lot of their products, wonder if the store has changed owners? Rather pay a little more and enjoy the product.
