Apple Canada: Pre-Order Apple Watch Now, Starting at $699

apple-canada-apple-watch-preorder

About a month ago now, we introduced you to Apple’s recent innovation in wearable technology, the Apple Watch. The pre-ordering for the Apple Watch has already begun, as the site opened up to customers on April 10th, with an anticipated shipping date of the first orders to be April 24th. While you can still pre-order your watch from Apple, they have warned that there may be a bit of a wait on orders placed later, as they expect that the demand for these hot new Apple gadgets will far exceed their available stock.

Within Canada, the lowest prices on the Apple Watches start at $699 and this will provide you with the 38mm Stainless Steel Sport Band Apple Watch. The other models of Apple Watches increase in price almost exponentially, as the price breakdown is as follows:

  • 38mm with Black Classic Buckle/Milanese Loop, $849
  • 42mm Black Classic Buckle/Milanese Loop, $919
  • 38mm Stainless Steel with Modern Buckle, $979
  • 38mm Stainless Steel Case with Link Bracelet, $1,229

The next group of watches that Apple is selling are the Apple Sport Watches, which start at the lowest price of $449 for a 38mm Silver Aluminum Case and end at the most expensive price of $519 for a 42mm Aluminum Case watch.

For those of you who are looking to be among a rather elite group of people who own the limited edition Apple Watch Edition models, then you should know that the bare minimum that you will have to dole out for one of these 18-carat rose gold/yellow gold watches is $13,000. The most expensive Apple Watch will be the 38mm 18-carat rose gold/yellow gold watch with a modern buckle, and this watch will cost $22,000.

For those of you who are on Fido Canada’s Fido Pulse Plan you will now be able to add-on a free 2-year subscription to Spotify with a Spotify Premium account. The Fido Pulse Plans can range in price from $49-$99/month, but if you take into consideration that you’ll be gaining access to over 20 million songs – which you will also be allowed to download for offline use – that you can listen to at 320kbps quality of sound then you can see why this is such a hot offer.

If you are with Fido, but can’t justify upgrading to Fido Pulse Plan, you can still receive a discount on Spotify Premium memberships and instead only pay $9/month, which would save you a total of $12/year.

Wind Mobile Canada: New Wind Mobile Price Plans, Starts April 9th

Wind mobile logo

Wind Mobile Canada is changing up their terms of service to better suit those of you who have your eyes set on more expensive phones but would still like to keep your cell phone bill from reaching into astronomical monthly fees. They have done this by creating more strict limits on your monthly data, but by decreasing the cost of each monthly package with the most expensive package (the $60/month) being decreased to just $50/month.

wind mobile chart

Wind has changed the data limits for each monthly package to incentivize you to purchase the $50 package, as it offers the most at 10GB per month for just $50 while the other packages will provide you with the following:

  • $35/month – 2GB
  • $40/month – 3GB
  • $45/month – 5GB
  • $50/month – 10GB

You will be allowed to add on an additional 10GB/month for an additional $10/month on the new Wind plan, which means that the maximum data you will be permitted on your Wind server will be 20GB/month (if you are on the $50/month plan). To finance your new phone, Wind is also allowing you to pay for your phone in $25/$15/$5 instalments, with the $25/month option giving you a maximum credit of $650, and the other options providing you with $450 and $250 respectively.

These new pricing plans will come into effect on April 9th, which is convenient as the new Samsung Galaxy S6 will also be launching this Friday at Wind Mobile.

Target Canada Liquidation Update: All Store To Close By April 12

target-liquidation-update-news

Target finally released the closing date for the remaining stores and you can expect those closing in 10 day signs to go up soon.  The liquidator will close all stores by April 12th, so if your store did not have a closing date, it is time to go get those last few bargains.

As mentioned the other day, the discounts are still at 50-70% but most stores with closing dates were offering 60% minimum discounts.  The advertised discounts are:

  • 50% off:  clothing & select shoes, cosmetics, fragrances, school/office supplies, cameras, diapers & formula, pet supplies, video game accessories, kitchen & household appliances, cookware, hardware, furniture, exercise equipment, automotive & more
  • 60% off: jeans, denim, shoes, winter boots, toys, movies/music, light bulbs, candles, fans, blinds & more
  • 70% off: fashion jewellery, party supplies, gift cards and more

Pizza Pizza Canada Freebies: Get FREE Slices of Pizza in the Slices For Devices Campaign

pizza-pizza-kids-club-birthday-offer

Keeping within the theme of Earth Month, Pizza Pizza Canada will be continuing this April with their Slices for Devices Campaign, now in its 12th year running, where you will be able to get free slices of pizza when you return an old device to be recycled with Pizza Pizza.

Screen Shot 2015-03-31 at 8.20.21 AM

This campaign will take place throughout the month of April and each person will be limited to 4 devices in return for a free slice of pizza. If you’re a larger company and have some bigger devices to recycle, then Pizza Pizza has also added a new incentive for you to also recycle through them. In exchange for your larger devices, Pizza Pizza will give you Club 11-11 gift cards that can be used on your next pizza party. For more information about this program for larger companies, you should contact Pizza Pizza.

The kinds of small devices that Pizza Pizza will be accepting for recycling include:

  • MP3 players
  • digital cameras
  • iPods
  • mobile and smart phones
  • hand held gaming devices (e.g. Nintendo 2DS/3dS, Sony PlayStation Vita)

For companies, the kind of larger devices that Pizza Pizza will accept includes:

  • LCD displays (e.g. computers, and TVs)
  • laptops
  • CPU Towers
  • Desktop computers
  • speakers

And to make this offer feel even better, you should know that the proceeds that are collected from refurbishing the devices will be donated to the Children’s Miracle Network.

Target Canada Liquidation Update: All Stores To Close in Next 2 Weeks + Sales Update

Target-Price-Cuts

Target stores will not be open through May 16th as previously stated when they first announced the liquidation and they expect all stores to close by mid April.  If your store was not advertising a closing date, they likely are now.

Stores that are closing are offering deeper discounts than the 50-70% advertised, with most items at 70% but we have a list of the advertised discounts if you are planning a shop.

  • 50% off:  clothing & select shoes, cosmetics, fragrances, school/office supplies, cameras, diapers & formula, pet supplies, video game accessories, kitchen & household appliances, cookware, hardware, furniture, exercise equipment, automotive & more
  • 60% off: jeans, denim, shoes, winter boots, toys, movies/music, light bulbs, candles, fans, blinds & more
  • 70% off: fashion jewellery, party supplies, gift cards and more

Again, these are minimum discounts but may be higher in stores closing in the next few days.  The regular prices for many items are set at manufacturer recommended prices and not the regular prices we are used to seeing in stores, but there are still some great deals.

If you need storage for your home, check out the fixture sales.  Some stores are including floor models from the store they used to display other items at amazing prices.

Walmart Canada Updating Home Shipping Charges: No Longer Offering Free Shipping With No Minimums

0619-wlmart

It was bound to happen sooner or later, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. I had just hoped that Walmart Canada’s free-shipping on all orders offer would stick around for a while longer, as they are one of the few e-retailers who still offered this service. Not only is Walmart changing their shipping services so that they no longer offer free-shipping on all orders with no minimum purchase required, but they are upping their free-shipping threshold to a whopping $50. This does seem to be the standard minimum threshold that most retailers offer, but to go from having no minimum to $50 seems like a bit of an unfair jump.

Walmart, however, will continue to offer free-shipping on all orders that are sent to one of the more than 5,000 pickup locations across the country, and there will be no minimum purchase required for these orders. If you do select to have your order shipped to your home, and you are below the $50 minimum, then you will have to pay $4.97 in shipping and handing fees, which to be fair, is not as bad as some retailers shipping fees.

Hopefully Walmart will consider having free-shipping days with no minimum purchases required, or even run promotional events where they cover the shipping with a promo code. We will just have to wait and see.

This new shipping offer will come into effect on April 2nd, so if there are any products below $50 that you would like to buy before the shipping minimum increases, I’d suggest you act now on those purchases.

Future Shop Canada To Close All Stores + Consolidate Into Best Buy Immediately?

bestbuy futureshop

NOTE: This is now confirmed.  Some stores will be renovated to Best Buy stores but all Future Shop stores are closed effective immediately.

Some shoppers and employees showed up to Future Shop stores today to find they had been closed effective immediately.  While Future Shop has been closing stores over the last year, the move to close all stores has come as a surprise with people tweeting images of closed stores asking them to visit their nearest Best Buy store.

It looks like the website will soon be shut down too, the Future Shop app asks people to download the Best Buy app with the message “Future Shop and Best Buy are consolidating under the Best Buy brand. That means, the products, services, and features you have come to expect from FutureShop.ca can be found at BestBuy.ca“.

While some news outlets have mentioned that the website was taken down, it seems to have been a glitch as it is showing now so you can check the status of orders and currently can still order items and you can use the app to view to other pages.  However, it also shows that you can still pick up orders in stores so there is a lot of confusion over which stores have closed.

futclos

While the company has not issued a statement, there have been images from all over the country with closed stores, it does seem to be true.  If you are close to a store and can check, we would love to know if any stores are still open!

UFC Fan Event: FREE In-Person Press Conference With Dana White, Jose Aldo, Conor McGregor, Robbie Lawler and Rory McDonald

ufc_freefanevent_488

For UFC fans in the GTA, you had better pack up your things early from work on March 27th to get seats for the free in-person event being held for UFC fans at the Toronto Eaton Centre in the MAC Court Fountain. At 4pm on March 27th, the featherweight champion of the UFC, Jose Aldo, and his rival Conor McGregor will be live in a press conference to promote their big fight which will be held on July 11th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This event is free, but will probably be limited to a first come first serve basis, so I’d recommend getting there early to secure yourself a good viewing of the UFC fighters.
