Carlton Cards Canada Recall: JA-RU’s Dino World Dino Ooze Product Recall

carlton-cards-canada-dino-world-ooze-recall

In an announcement released by The Healthy Canadians today, we have learned that there has been a product recall on JA-RU’s Dino World Dino Ooze that was sold by Carlton Cards Canada between October 28th, 2014 and March 30th, 2015. The reason for this recall is because the product has been found to contain organic solvents which, if inhaled by your child for a continuous period of time, could cause some serious harm to their health.

The UPC code for the recalled products is, 075656017351, and the toy item number is, 1735.

If you or anyone you know has purchased one of these toys in the past 6 months, then you can return your Dino World Dino Ooze to any Carlton Cards for a full refund, or dispose of it in the trash.

Starbucks App Canada News: Hackers Draining Bank Accounts Via Starbucks App

starbucks-canada-hackers-stealing-money

It was reported this past Monday that hackers have been breaking into Starbucks accounts of unknowing customers and stealing money from their bank accounts, credit cards and PayPal accounts. This break-in issue is largely due to the lack of security on the Starbucks app, which can gain automatic access to your bank account and credit card through auto-reload and reloading gift cards.

The company has had problems with the app’s security measures in the past, as just last year it was discovered that they had been leaving their passwords open to viewing in plain-text.

Starbucks says that they have not been hacked, and that most of the hacking that has been happening recently can be attributed to password’s not being strong enough. The people who have recently been hacked have actually come forward and said that they’re passwords were not all that ‘unique’. Starbucks recommends that you use both upper and lower case letters, as well as a combination of numbers and symbols so as to keep your password better protected.

Starbucks hasn’t said whether they would be updating the security system on the Starbucks app, so as to prevent any future instances of hackers gaining access to your account, but it is still rather early to tell if they will change that statement.

Canadian Tire To Takeover 12 Former Target Canada Locations

canadian-Tire-target-buy-out

It’s no secret that Canadian Tire has had their eyes on Target Canada’s retail stores for some time now, and when the American company announced that they would be closing their doors to Canadian shoppers back in January Canadian Tire wasted no time in working out a deal that would secure them some of their sought after real estate. In a statement issued on Wednesday, May 6th, Canadian Tire Corp. announced that they had reached a $17.7 million dollar deal (they are yet to release whether that number is in American or Canadian dollars) that would expand their store space across the country by 400,000 square feet.

Target officially closed all of their stores last April, and of those 133 Canadian Tire is set to take over the spaces of 12 locations from across the country, which include:

  • Les Carrefours Rimouski, in Rimouski, Quebec
  • Place Versailles, in Montreal, Quebec
  • Hillside Centre, in Victoria, B.C.
  • Village Green Mall, in Vernon, BC.
  • Aurora Centre, in Aurora, Ontario
  • Sudbury Super Mall, in Sudbury, Ontario
  • Grant Park Shopping Centre, in Winnipeg, Manitoba
  • Driftwood Mall, in Courtenay, B.C.
  • Tamarack Shopping Centre, in Cranbrook, B.C.
  • Bayers Lake Power Centre, in Halifax, NS
  • Northwest Centre, in Moncton, NB
  • Place Alexis Nihon, in Montreal, Quebec

Canadian Tire believes they will be better able to satisfy their customer’s needs with these newly acquired spaces that are located in more convenient areas, and have more physical space which will ultimately allow them to restock with more popular products.

Wind Mobile Canada Offers: Unlimited Talk, Text and Data For $35/Month

wind-mobile-unlimited-plans

Wind Mobile Canada’s new unlimited monthly plans have definitely made the competition a bit more steep within Canada for the going cellphone rates, especially with their new $35/month talk, text and data plan. The plan is, as stated, only $35 a month and with it you will receive:

  • unlimited Canada-wide calling
  • unlimited Canada-wide texting
  • unlimited Data (2GB full speed allotment)
  • unlimited Canada/US-wide picture/video messaging
  • voicemail
  • call control (caller ID, missed call alerts, call waiting, etc.)
  • and up to $150 in Bring/Buy your own phone credits or WINDtab

If you’re still looking to go cheaper, the $25 a month plan offers all of the same features, except that it won’t include the unlimited Data, which nowadays is as much a precedent as unlimited texting is on a phone (as a lot of us do use our phones as handheld computers).

wind-mobile-chart

When you compare this plan with other cell phone providers, you quickly realize that this offer from Wind is probably going to give you the most mileage for your money. For instance, Mobilicity offers a $35 a month plan, but they offer ‘light data’ while Wind offers unlimited data. In the light data offer, you will receive e-mail and social networking, which is fine if that’s all you use your data for. If you use your data for other activities, however, it leaves you rather limited.
