LikeNet Coming Back & Restoring Balances – Will You Trust Them Again?

1486806_575278015896430_2141195904_n

Some of you will remember LikeNet.ca when it was around in 2012 then closed down suddenly leaving many people owed money (those who did not have the minimum threshold to cash out when they changed it to a higher threshold without notice).

They claim that they will restore our balances and have new ways to earn, but will you trust them again?  Will you use them just to get to the cashout threshold to get what you were previously owed?

They promise to have more way to earn and exclusive deals but personally I think opening it to the USA means we will get less opportunities (not to mention the fact that they couldn’t handle a relatively small Canadian market before).

If you were not aware of LikeNet when they were around before, you can read more about them here.

A Little Valentine’s Day Canada Secret: How to buy the Roses Without the Rush and Fuss!

valentine roses wallpaper

Think back to last year, February 14th… night mare trying to find a dozen roses, right?

This year for Valentine’s Day, make it a little easier on yourself while letting your lady friend think that you were being extra thoughtful 😉 This is simple for you – on your way home from work on February 13th, buy your wife/girlfriend/loved one a bouquet of roses from your store of choice. There are a few simple steps to impressing her with these roses, please do not just leave them in your car or garage!

  1. Buy your roses.
  2. When you get them home (without your loved one seeing) cut the stems on an angle while running them under luke warm water.
  3. Trim the lower stem greens and leaves.
  4. Add half the pack of powder of “Rose Food” that should come with them in luke warm water in a vase.
  5. Add the flowers but be sure to keep them in an inconspicuous area so the misses does not spot them!
  6. In the morning before she wakes up, place them on the kitchen table or on the bed side so she gets to wake up to them!

This is a definite win-win situation for the both of you. You benefit by not having the hassle of the Valentine’s Day nightmare of buying roses on the actual Holiday, and you also benefit by making your wife happy when she wakes up to the beautiful roses. A happy wife, a happy life, right?

What do you expect to pay for roses? I guess that all depends if you want to go all out on roses or also spend on dinner as well.

There are a few different tiers of Rose quality and prices:

  • Convenience store quality around $14.99 for a dozen roses.
  • Sobeys/RCSS/Local Flower Shop around $24.99-$24.99 for a dozen roses.
  • Local Premium Flower Shops around $60.00-$80.00 for a dozen roses.

Costco also sells 2 dozen roses for $25.00 but they die rapidly and are small convenience store quality roses.

Also to spruce things up, grab a little package of Rose petals! I got a package from La Vie en Rose Store for simple decoration last year for $10.00 and they smell and feel like real rose petals but they are re-usable 🙂

Happy Valentines Day!

Hudson’s Bay Company to sell flagship to Toronto Store in a $650-Million Deal

image

Wow! According to the Globe and Mail, Hudson’s Bay Company has agreed to sell their Flagship Queen Street store located in downtown Toronto as well as their adjacent office tower for a total of $650-million. There are plans to open the first Saks store at the site.

HBC announced this news this morning about selling the adjacent properties to Cadillac Fairview Corporation and launching their first Saks store at this location. This kind of shoots down their previous plans to open their first Saks store at Yonge and Bloor street in Toronto where it was supposed to replace the Hudson’s Bay Outlet.

HBC will be leasing the entire retail and office complex back for 25 years with a renewal option of just under 50 years. Apparently HBC has decided to do this to reduce the company’s debt and invest in growth initiatives as well as keep as many people employed as they can.

Cadillac also plans to upgrade the bridge that connects the Hudson’s Bay store to the Eaton Centre. They also plan to have new upscale ‘food halls’ in the Saks stores in Eaton Centre and the other one negotiated for Sherway Gardens.

The Saks at Queen Street is planned to open fall of 2015 and the Saks at Sherway is planned to open in spring of 2016.

Nordstrom Canada to Replace Sears at the Eaton Centre

Announcements 1 comment

nordstorm-canada

Great News! Nordstrom is finally coming to Toronto and it’ll replace Sears at the Eaton Centre in Toronto. Nordstorm is an American upscale fashion retailer.  The company began as a shoe retailer, and has since expanded their inventory to include clothing, accessories, handbags, jewelry, cosmetics, and fragrances. Select Nordstrom stores also have wedding and home furnishing departments. The new Nordstrom store will be the company’s fifth in its foray into Canada. Stores in Calgary, Ottawa, and Vancouver are also in the pipes.

Sears has been a part of the Eaton Centre since 1999 when Eaton’s, the department store empire that built the mall, filed for bankruptcy.

Nordstrom will begin construction of the three-level store in March and expects the outlet will open in the fall of 2016.
