Before you break into your Labour Day weekend festivities, be sure to check the labels on the Smirnoff Ice brand beverages you may have purchased to kick off the long weekend. Diageo Canada has voluntarily issued this recall and it is a class 2 level, meaning that it affects everyone nationwide. The reason for this recall is because the company suspects that there could be a glass contamination in a wide variety of their bottles. The bottles include nearly every Smirnoff Ice brand product, and also every size, so be sure to check the UPC codes on your bottles to see if they match with any of the ones mentioned in the product recall.
You can see a full list on the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s website with the detailed UPC codes. However, here is a list of the brands that were included in the recall:
- Smirnoff Ice
- Smirnoff Ice Peach Bellini
- Smirnoff Ice Green Apple
- Smirnoff Ice Raspberry
- Smirnoff Ice Cranberry and Lime
- Smirnoff Ice Watermelon Mimosa
- Smirnoff Ice Orange Screwdriver
- Smirnoff Ice Light
- Smirnoff Ice The Life of the Party Pack
The CFIA advises you to either throw out these bottles, or return them to the liquor store you purchased them at for a refund.
