Sofina Foods Inc. is recalling Janes brand frozen uncooked breaded chicken products from the marketplace due to possible Salmonella contamination. Consumers should not consume the recalled products described below.
What you should do
Check to see if you have recalled products in your home. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.
If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, call your doctor.
Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.

In a note to staff, company president Sarah Davis said some of the employees were informed Monday and many of the positions will be eliminated immediately. Cuts will come across the country, at office locations including Calgary, Toronto, Winnipeg, Halifax and Montreal.

IKEA Canada is thrilled to make the next stop on its coast to coast expansion journey, with the announcement of a full-size store in London, Ontario. Scheduled to open in fall 2019, IKEA London will be the 15th IKEA store in Canada. It will be located at the intersection of Highway 401 and Wellington Road, in a new retail and commercial complex. The new store will be 270,000 square feet. It will feature a Showroom, Market hall, a Restaurant, SMALAND children’s play facility and offer customers a complete range of convenient services including home delivery, assembly, planning and exchanges.
With the opening of the new store, IKEA Canada will have a positive contribution to the local economy through the creation of 100-150 new jobs for IKEA London, in addition to the co-workers already working at the London Pick-up and order point, and the construction jobs generated over the course of the project. IKEA Canada looks forward to welcoming these additional co-workers to join the dedicated team currently working at the London Pick-up and order point.
In 2015, IKEA Canada announced its ambition to double the number of stores in Canada from 12 to 24 and expand from coast to coast. The London store will be the third stop on this journey. IKEA Halifax opened on September 27th, 2017 and IKEA Quebec City will open in late summer 2018.
Sears Canada announced that it will be applying to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice for approval to liquidate all of its remaining stores and assets. It is expected the Court will hear the motion on October 13, 2017. If a judge approves, 130 stores will close. The liquidation will affect 130 stores and 12,000 jobs, including the company’s Toronto head office and the 11 stores that were announced last week.
Pending approval of the Court, it is expected that liquidation sales at retail locations would commence no earlier than October 19 and continue for 10 to 14 weeks. Further details regarding the liquidation will be communicated in due course.
Yahoo has tripled down on what was already the largest data breach in history, saying it affected all three billion accounts on its service – not the one billion it revealed late last year. Yahoo has sent emails providing notice to additional user accounts affected by the August 2013 data theft.
Yahoo first disclosed the breach in December. The stolen information included names, email addresses, phone numbers, birthdates and security questions and answers.
