“I Gotta Feeling” Shot in One Take by Université du Québec Students = Awesomeness

Other / Canada

I had really gotten bored of Internet Videos recently as they seemed to lack any creativity what-so-ever… but this video, shot in one take by Université du Québec students, is pure awesomeness. This Black Eyed Peas song on the other hand… well, I’ll let you decide on that.

I didn’t find Oprahs as original as this one. She basically copied the improv one at the airport last year.

Speaking of that these dudes are awesome. Imrpov everywhere

Ah this is the one I was thinking of!

The t mobil dance, thus making Oprah totally unoriginal.

  14. Monique says:

Cool yes, that sooo many got involved- real school spirit!

  15. Steve says:

Got to laugh at the fact that they through in the french translation of the song. Would bet pretty big money that was “forced” in to bring the french unity crap into it. But also have to laugh at the french doing the english songs in a very PRO Quebecois part f the country. Now i maybe wrong that they chose to add the translation for fun. And if so great. But i doubt it.

Canada 1 Nation. Not this nation with the Quebec nation inside of it!!!

  16. Annie says:

    ecoeurant!

  17. Bugga Bugga says:

That was so good! They did a great job!

  18. thecountess says:

I thought the whole thing was very well timed and you can tell a lot of planning would have gone into pulling it off in one take 🙂

  19. Vivi says:

    That was amazing!

  20. KimC says:

    Impressive! Well done!

  21. Corbinx says:

That looks like so much fun. I had just seen the Oprah one but I think I like this one better!

  22. steph says:

Steve’s a douche bag. Cause, university students never do anything just for fun. I go to the university and my mother is an anglophone. For every 1 separatist yahoo, there’s someone equally stupid like you on the other side.

  23. Aussie says:

This is awesome!!!!! love the song!!!!!some cute guys in there too!! LOL

  24. Maddie2008 says:

I think they did a great job, especially with everyone working together like that. Very well organized.

  25. Patty says:

Is it just me or did no one notice the promoting of booze in this video? Very good impression they are making. That’s not what this song is all about. Not impressed.

  26. monkeymommy says:

LOVED IT!!!! It had my kids dancing!

  27. youngmom says:

    That was pretty awesome!
I don’t think that the alcohol content is an issue, but that’s just me.

  28. julie says:

    it is awesome!

  29. Ruth says:

Holy cow. That wasn’t edited at all. Think of the preperation and practice that must have taken. Hat off to them! Hope the Black Eyed Peas see this one.

  30. Stephen says:

Patty … have you seen the ACTUAL video that the Black Eyed Peas made? Lots of crazy crap in that video too … if you like that video I wouldn’t think you’d have a problem with the booze in this video.

  31. Chrissy says:

Thank you for sharing! It was great.

  32. Missy says:

its good but as an anglophone living in Quebec its really too bad that this school is full of separatists.

  33. Patty says:

    To Stephen,

Yes I have seen ACTUAL video.

  34. ElsaLAbbe says:

    It’s great.
My son went there but never did anything like this!!!

  35. Mike Jones says:

It is amazing, especially most of the kids are french speaking but got the lip sick done cool..

Only thing is There should be a warning because the song will stcik in your head ALL day

  36. Michel says:

Can you just appreciate and don’t bring politic everywhere!!!! When anglo make something special, i appreciate and i don’t say ‘it’s ok but it’s make by federalists’

  37. Nelly says:

Ce soir sera une bonne soirée? 😀 LMAO! Nice video!

@Tmak: I saw at least one Asian girl towards the end of the video, just to put your mind at ease. 🙂

@Steve: Since when is Montreal the most Pro Quebecois part of the country? If anything, it’s probably the least separatist part of Quebec. I’m sure the students were just having fun and were not paid to come up with the French translation. I know if I was there, I’d be in on it, too, even though I’m the least “pro-Quebec” person I know. 🙂

@Missy: I thought École Polytechnique was the most separatist-infested university out there. But UQAM might be a close second… 🙂

  38. Justine says:

Was this part of a project or something?
My fav part is the guy in the pink unitard! 🙂

  40. chickendog says:

    Awesome!
I definitely went to the wrong university – we didn’t do anything like that.

  41. Sally says:

I’m not trying too start anything but if it isnt a drinking song whats it about Patty?

I assumed it was about going out and having a good time having a few drinks “lets drink it up”

    Nothing harmful really lol.

The BEP version has lots of drinking and is WAY provocative then this student version. Theres lots of sexual innuendo, in the end there falling over there so drunk lmao.
    Heres the original.

  42. Simmy says:

    Nice!! Mon esti 😉

  43. Ashling says:

I agree that this a a truly awesome video! I saw it a couple of days ago and have watched it a few times since. It’s one of those pick-me-up songs IMO.
I had a bad day today. Watching that put me in a much better mood 🙂

  44. Mandolin says:

Super proud to be a Montrealer. It was awesome. That video has nothing to do with the language debate or seperating. But if you want to go there. I am switzerland on the issue….as an American living in Montreal with my quebecois partner, I appreciate both sides of the debate. My partner is not for seperating and in fact few quebecers in Montreal are that I know of, at the moment and I live and hang out with the French speaking population, so I believe I would hear about it if there was a big movement. I certainly appreciate when I see meet a seperatist, they are good people they just do not feel involved with canada, can you get mad at that…. really?…. REALLY? The quebecois make me feel at home even if I have an accent or mess up phrases or explain a thought in english. You judgemental people should take a vacation here and meet the french speaking population. You might realise this big grudge you hold is a bunch of media hooyey.

Go UQAM Go UQAM Go UQAM…..VIVE LE QUEBEC et Canada!

  45. missbobloblaw says:

    awesome camerea work!

  46. Fiona says:

THAT WAS AMAZING i wish my school would do something like that great take seriously!!!

  47. Nelly says:

Mandolin, that’s great that you feel that way about Montreal and Quebec. I lived in Montreal for 6 years when I first moved to Canada and I have to say that some of the Frenchies are really nice folks. However, my dad worked at École Polytechnique and was probably the only non-French speaking professor there (although he did take a bunch of French language courses, he still had difficulty speaking the language). And he felt really oppressed by the negative attitude he had to deal with on a daily basis. In fact, just before the 1995 referendum, somebody wrote “Go to L” on the wall near his desk. As for me, I once took a badminton course that was offered at UQAM since Dawson College didn’t have enough room for all their gym classes. Well, I happened to lose my student ID at UQAM and when I tried explaining my situation to one of the administrators in English and then in broken French, they basically wouldn’t even talk to me. Like I said, there’s lots of really nice peeps there, too, but unfortunately, my experience has not been all peachy like it is for you.

Anyway, none of this changes the fact that this is a cool video and the French singing is actually my favourite part. 🙂

  48. Michel says:

To Nelly. Sorry to read your experience. I’m a separatist, and a lot of my friends too. But, i like to talk with english people, they bring to me a lot. I like everybody on the earth except stupid people and stupid people, we have it too in Quebec. And i know that i have a lot of difference with the english people (culture, religion, thinking, sense of humor). Maybe one day we will be able to work together or… At least, i like other languages, peoples, cultures and colors. I juste hate stupid guys. Thank you and sorry for some mistakes in my letter.

  49. Zebbery says:

Fantastic video ,Great song , Very catchy toon .

  50. sha says:

Very exciting. I was dancing the whole time. Oh, some cute guys in there as well.

  51. Nelly says:

Michel, of course there are nice people and jerks everywhere. God knows Ontario has its fair share of a-holes. 😀 I am actually not an English person, either. English is my third language and French is my fourth.. So I don’t always feel like I can relate to everyone around me, but hey, you take the good with the bad and you make the most of it. As long as you keep an open mind, it’s all good. Anyway, my experience living in Montreal was quite positive for the most part and I definitely would not hold a grudge against Quebecers because of a few not so intelligent individuals. I guess my point was that I don’t feel it is fair to generalize against or for any particular group of people.. But the internet is a free medium, so everyone has a right to express their opinion!

Anyway, sorry for diverging from the topic of this AWESOME video! I guess some people (like me) will always find some way to go off on a tangent no matter what the topic is. 😀

  52. PJ says:

Not a bad video however, it lost a lot in the attempt to francophonize it. I was happy to read some of the comments & I too find it quite amusing that UQAM students used an English song.
Wonder if the Quebec gov’t is aware that it is giving loans & bursaries to ” French” students doing ” English videos. haha!

Nellie .. you obviously have never lived in Montreal nor gone to UQAM.
