Longo’s now requires customers to wear face masks due to COVID-19 pandemic. Guests are required to wear a mask or face covering while in the store. “As much as we want to see your smiles, as of May 4th we require Guests to wear a face mask or covering while in store. Please help do your part in keeping the community safe.”

Every store should make masks mandatory.
I applaud Costco and Longo’s for doing that.
Mandatory for what reason ?
I received an email from Longo’s regarding the wearing of masks, and I wrote back to customer service…I don’t have an issue being asked to wear one, but I find it very offensive that they insist on masks, and then say in the next sentence that they are FOR SALE in their store. First responders can’t get masks, but Longo’s customers can buy them?
Offer them to shoppers who need them (not all people have their own)…they’re already making a fortune off of us, don’t gouge people further.
I applaud this. As a doctor, I just don’t see the point of some people wearing and other people don’t (no i’m not going to go into the science why it’s still better than not even when the recommendations still says only wear if you are sick).
I understand some people dont’ want it to be mandatory because they don’t have access to mask but just wrap a shawl or scarf around is fine. It’s a small inconvenience if you consider the virus not in terms of number, but that it may save someone’s elderly family from contracting it because they live with someone who is asymptomatic.
