  1. roseofblack25 says:

Unintentional…It took me a really long time to figure out what I was supposed to be looking at. I went back and forth between all the shirts and was like it looks grey not black is that it?
    I’m an idiot.

  2. Jo says:

I didn’t see it either for a long time. Guess I’m an idiot too lol

  3. ilovegratis says:

I saw it, but I think that they just screwed up

  4. Al says:

You only need flip through the different colours of the shirt to see what they mean.

  5. star says:

I don’t think it’s supposed to be a joke, but I get what you’re pointing out. Though if you look, the shirt the link points to is also not black, but is called “black” in the description. So their idea of black for a shirt, is not what most people would consider the colour to be.

  6. look down lol says:

I looked umm down *blushes* lol

  7. stacey says:

Seriously? Is it slow traffic on this site lately that you have to bring out the idiotic posts again? Keep it to deals, this is stupid.

  8. Boo Radley says:

Stacey, this has nothing to do with traffic. I’ve always loved posting off-topics on SC since 2006. I personally find them enjoyable 🙂

Here’s the off-topic section that stems back years:
    http://smartcanucks.ca/category/other-canada/

  9. Holly says:

    Well…technically the shirt IS black.

  10. Anjo says:

This post is a waste of time.

  11. benji says:

    I didn’t get it either… took me a while.

Some people read too much into things.

  12. Erin says:

    I don’t get it….

  13. marta says:

funny hehe. what a nice…smile that man has.

  14. April says:

Good looking models are never a waste of time! 😉 lol

  15. Sally says:

I always love the rude haters that come out to say why is this here. If they were a true Sc fan they would know why.

I chuckled, more of a crime is the fact that that shirt is 88 dollars.

  16. lilottawadevil says:

    Hahaha… Made me laugh!

  17. Boo Radley says:

Sally, admit you found the guy super hot 😉

  18. nsnsns says:

I love when different discussions are put up, it gets people talking!!

  19. angela says:

I still dont get it ..grrrr

  20. Stahr says:

@ Angela my guess is that bc it’s a black man wearing a black shirt. Im pretty sure he owns a black shirt in real life.If you look around the site you will see him wearing other coloured shirts as well. Interesting post but I don’t believe it is racist

  21. tudorchick says:

hmmm.it is a black model…and the shirt looks good on him.i’m sure it wasn’t intentional.what IS racist is those camera’s that say “someone has blinked” when taking pictures of people in asia.and it’s a fuji camera…

  22. Minou says:

Saw a poster in my doctor’s office last week. Under the picture of a baby, the copy read, “I’m six months old, and ready to eat!” Goodness! Even Jonathan Swift felt babies should only be eaten after around 12 months! 😉 When I commented on the poster, the doctor didn’t get it.

Thanks for the chuckle with this one.

  23. kgal says:

I dont like how they used the same white guy in all the other colors of shirt but not the ‘black’ one. Why not put the white guy in the ‘black’ shirt??

  24. orly says:

    seriously?

  25. Kate says:

Wow. The only thing more ridiculous than noticing such a dumb thing is this post. Waste of time.

  26. Moi says:

    I agree with kgal……….wtf?
use the same model..but then again….if I was ordering I don’t think I would have looked that much into it really.

Only when you wrote about it, did I look
But Lulu should have known better…..!
I am sure that it was purposely done, just like a few years of the “ikea book”……they put a c**k on the dog on the front page one year and the other year was something else…….have yet to notice anything this year…

  27. thisisgreat says:

Model is super hot, that’s all I noticed.

  28. Sally says:

Thats not a phone is his tights Boo.

  29. RC says:

    ok i am cracking up………lol

  30. RC says:

    still laughing

    LOL

  31. RC says:

i’d say start at the right and click all the colors to get the full effect

  32. lol says:

hee hee… that is funny (only if unintentional, of course). Did anyone else notice that the other model wears MUCH looser pants in all his photos? hmmmm…

  33. Lori says:

All I noticed was the nice pants he was wearing….;)

  34. danifish says:

made me giggle… probably just a mistake. Too bad for the grumpy comments, some people just don’t like to have fun 🙂

  35. Dee says:

    Seriously. Get a grip!

  36. clementine says:

I don’t think this was intentional at all!! Just someone who is making a big deal of nothing at all.

  37. hillybeanz says:

I thought this was hilarious and obviously unintentional!

  38. Sue Murdock says:

I found that rather amusing 🙂 especially considering all the other colors are worn by the same model except for the black one. lol

  39. Sarah says:

I didn’t get it at first. I agree with the others who say some people are reading too much into it. Especially since the shirt he is wearing isn’t actually black but more greyish.

Also, from a brand like lululemon I would never ever expect them to intentionally do something like that. They are a good brand.

  40. mcshauneen says:

That’s funny and I am sure totally not intentiomal!!!

  41. Carolyn says:

Lululemon is bad for posting the incorrect picture – just have a look through their clearance section during a big upload. I too am tired of the off-topic posts. They are often off-colour in themselves.

  42. C says:

They probably used a different model because it was a different or new color. They may not have had all the colors of shirt when the original model took his photos, and made a new color for the style later, and they just happened to have that model doing other clothes so they got him to model it so they’d have a photo for the website.

    People are overthinking this.

  43. Rita says:

WOW, the only thing DUMBER than this post is ME for wasting 5 minutes of my life (that i will never get back) to check out the website and read all these lame comments! ARRGH!!…..kicking myself now!

  44. AIJ says:

hahaha.. That was a good laugh, and both men are easy on the eyes.. however that price for a workot shirt is ridiculous !

  45. Jeff says:

best part? canadians dont get the big deal.

  46. Joaquinne says:

This is an absolutely ignorant post.

Does this mean that you’ll be happier if they don’t ever use ebony models for black coloured clothing?

    Absolutely ridiculous.

  47. Jack Bauer says:

    Power rangers all over again

  48. Boo Radley says:

Joaquinne, that is absolutely not what was meant. Many people would agree that the guy looks very sexy and handsome as you can read from the comments 🙂

  49. Chad says:

The idiots who comment on this post and don’t get it crack me up.

  50. Diane Grant says:

awesome……thank you for taking the time to point out this fine feast for my eyes.

by the way, check out the white dude in a white shirt……now was that on purpose?

Keep up the great work, you rock!

  51. Jane Doe says:

OMG are you serious, ppl will complain about anything! I would consider the shirt black grey. When i went thru all the shirts i was like whats the problem…..some people need to get a grip or a life and stop jumping to conclusions….pathetic!

  52. Rhonda says:

Really? The only thing I thought was “that shirts not black…” but the man certainly is a good looking man! 🙂

  53. Ashlynn says:

Is this all about the outline of his crotch? I don’t really see why that’s so interesting. He’s wearing spandex so of course you can see an outline. Is that the point of all this or am I missing something?

  54. carlyincanada says:

Who cares! the guy is hot!! 🙂

  55. jenj77 says:

black man wearing a black shirt…wow that’s so funny???
    I don’t understand…

  56. Sandie says:

Waste of time??? No, Good chuckle, yes!

  57. Megan says:

Diane, the white dude is in all the other colors

  58. DiamondLil says:

I had to go back after Sally’s comment about the cell phone in the dudes pocket…. Sally youre right, thats no cell phone…. 🙂

    Handsome models tho!!! ::::fanning herself:::::

  59. gaga says:

    that is funny

  60. Theresa says:

Wow, talk about looking for things to cause trouble. Unreal.

  61. TM says:

You have WAY too much time on your hands!

  62. Diane says:

Man, people will complain about anything haha….”5 minutes I’ll never get back”

I mean really, get some perspective folks lol. It’s just a joke.

  63. mouse says:

That shirt aint black, it is grey DUUHHHH!!! And his tights are a bit too tight seeing as the other dudes are way looser, hmmm. Make it what u will , mistake or not Who Cares? Maybe posts like this waste our time and the people who post them need more important things to focus on.

  64. chache says:

What a complete waste of time. Really Boo.

  65. clementine says:

I totally agree Diane!! People need to lighten up lol.

  66. slamjam says:

Is this racist or a joke? the power rangers –
the yellow power ranger was asian, the black power ranger was a black guy and the rest were you know, red blue and green

    http://images.cosplay.com/photos/26/2681201.jpg

  67. dizzyb says:

Ah, I am a fan of black. yum.
Is it a joke? NO. It’s definitely unintentional.
(goodness gracious, there are a lot of cranky people hanging around)

  68. Keekz says:

    oh I get it now….lol

  69. teekay says:

Not racist; although it is odd that they used one model for all of the other shirts and not the black one. I’m curious about what happened there.

  70. Orual says:

Mistake or not it is hilarious.

  71. couponfreak says:

    there was a shirt?

  72. oudette says:

…so the man had a great body, so what?!?! I think that the people who always call the race cards are the ones who are racist themselves. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the ad. Two men modelling shirts,,,,THAT’S IT!!!

  73. Jennifer says:

people crack me up!! even the ones that take the time too read every single post and then complain it’s a waste of time. Don’t like it don’t read it. I personally like all the consumer bloopers we find out there.I take pictures of the signs in stores that have their sale price being higher than the original price…….. stuff like that, you gotta just laugh and not be so serious all the time.

  74. Linda says:

the only thing “racist” here is that someone decided to make a point of making it appear so (i.e. the person who posted the question).

  75. Sally says:

What If I were to tell you Boo is African American Linda? Would that change things.

Gosh some of you just cant see things for how they are. Its ridiculous. Apparently none of you have the comedy channel

  76. Funkymunky says:

ooooh is that Boo in the picture?! holy cow hi 😉

on a serious note – rude haters go away!

  77. Diana says:

    Well put, Sally!

  78. mnyyoungs says:

heheheh…i don’t care about the colour of the shit..they guy in it caught my attention! lol 😉

  79. GOLeafsGO says:

this is funny nothing more and i think unitentional just like the iPad commercial where the african and white couple use the iPad of their skin colour..but def funny nice post!

  80. E says:

I think it’s funny you noticed his race first. Just saying.

  81. cheryl888 says:

All that a post like this does, regardless of the website its on, is stir up hate. Someone at some point will end up saying something to Lululemon, making a BIG deal of it, and some sort of unnecessary contraversy will ensue.
I agree with everyone who said that this is stupid, because it is. Want to have off topic posts? Discuss world news, literature, etc. Not a possible racial discrimination case for a company that most likely just made a website mistake.

  82. Sally says:

Yah Cheryl your completely right. Lets ignore stuff and it will just go away. Sounds like a plan…..

  83. Grant says:

you ladies should all be ashamed of yourselves. Objectifying a man like that, making him out to be a piece of meat. He is someone’s son and someone’s brother you know. His tight shorts are there for him “to feel sexy” not for all of you to admire his package…… lol, welcome to what we men have to hear all the time when we forget to “look women in their eyes”.

  84. Ilovesales. says:

Ya I don’t understand why people feel it necessary to be so rude. I happen to like these ‘break from deals’ post:P Keep em going!:)

  85. Funkymunky says:

Grant – what did you smoke today…?

  86. tudorchick says:

lol grant.and women don’t get objectified every day.tell me the truth, you look at the babe of the day…get off your soap box

  87. mandee says:

aren’t there better things to be posting about, like actual deals? most of use use this site to check on deals/ coupons, not discuss touchy topics like race, religion or politics.

  88. cigale says:

I started at the end and showed it to my (India-born) husband and he said “that’s grey”and then “oh! Ha! Ha! Ha!”

I loved the “I am six months old and ready to eat” joke. Good editors are needed everywhere!

  89. moe says:

I think it’s a Wonderful sign of the times that we have to look this hard & still wonder if the ad copy is “off colour” or Not. . .

We have come a long way as a society in a “short” period of time (nothing against short people) Moe

  90. Sam says:

I like this post. Nothing wrong with posting a non-deals post especially it’s related to an eCommerce site. Good business for Lulu.

  91. Lori says:

    Awesome Grant! Touche! 🙂

  92. Cigale says:

The fact that Smart Canucks posts off topic stories shows that it is run by real people! And I love it!!!!!! I also love the fact that it stimulates conversations. Bravo! Don’t go changing.

  93. ScotchandBoots says:

In my humble opinion, I believe that Lululemon made a mistake, albeit an unintentional one. I think the shirt pictured as “black” is actually “black herringbone” and vice versa. The photos just need to be switched. It is puzzling that they used the same model for all the phtos except one. Maybe he called in sick that day?

In response to some of the previous posts:

Sally: I always thought Boo was Canadian…?

Grant: Just remember, these men are MODELS. It’s their job to look good. After all, Lululemon promotes health and well-being, so of course their models need to have great physiques. And to show the shirts off to their best advantage, the men wearing them need to have washboard abs, not piles of laundry.

Minou: Touche! I remember reading Jonathan Swift’s essay back in high school. So when I read your post I nearly fell of my chair laughing.

All the Haters out there: As much as I respect your right to your opinion, I always wonder why people comment on articles for the purpose of trashing them. I personally enjoy these off-topic posts. Smartcanucks is more than just a deals forum–it is a community. And it is through these “fun” posts that we get to know our fellow SC’rs. Always remember that your words speak volumes about you.

Now, if you’ll excuse me…I have the urge to go to Lululemon and buy some T-shirts.

  94. Amy says:

    @Scotchandboots,

You are being sarcastic with your comment about always believing Boo was Canadian, right? I really hope so. African American and Canadian are not exclusive…

You contradict yourself. “As much as I respect your right to your opinion, I always wonder why people comment on articles for the purpose of trashing them.”

You said it yourself – everyone is entitled to an opinion. Some express theirs more strongly than others. In effect, you feel as if someone who doesn’t agree with your opinion (enjoying off-topic posts) shouldn’t express their opinion, or “hatred.”

For the record, I do agree that off-topic posts do enrich this community. But if often depends on who wrote the post – as there is one SC “writer” that tends to instigate controversy when none is needed.

As for this post, I do think Lululemon had an oversight. It seems like quite a coincidence that all other colours but the black shirt are modeled by the same model. Regardless, it might be just that – a coincidence. For their part, in today’s politically correct society where people often look for a problem where there isn’t one, perhaps Lululemon should have taken more care.

  95. Amanda says:

It always surprises me that people find this random things – and then takes the time to post about them. Unless I was going out of my way to find this it would have never hit my radar. Maybe I’m blind to these things, but just wasn’t that big of a deal to me.

  96. L6941 says:

This post by Boo is silly and funny and harmless. Y’ALL must be so self-entitled that you demand all SC posts be about deals only and then whine about wasting time.

For all those uptight miserable ()*)$*()@*%(*% (*@%(*(@*%(*()%_@)$@() Just sayin.

  97. E says:

    Wow.. that was vulgar @L6941

  98. Linda says:

Sally, you asked me a question and I responded; however, whoever “monitors” the comments (you and/or Boo?) chose not to post it. I wonder why?

  99. Sally says:

I never saw it Linda, most likely is in the spam filter.

  100. Linda says:

    fair enough

  101. ScotchandBoots says:

Amy, just to clarify…I was not contradicting myself in my statement. I absolutely feel that everyone is entitled to share their opinion. I never said that everyone has to agree. Differences of opinion create lively debates and the open exchange of ideas. That’s a good thing.

By “haters” I am referring to the people who use rude and insulting language to put others down. The issue is not what people say, but how they say it. There are ways to express opinions without belittling others for doing the same.

For the record, I never said that the haters shouldn’t express themselves; I only said I “wonder why” they would. They claim this thread is such a waste of time, yet still take the time to write a post saying so. This confuses me–if I don’t enjoy reading a post I simply stop reading and move on to the next one.

As for the African American/Canadian reference, I would not call it sarcasm (which implies a certain meanness of spirit). I simply meant it as a play on words. My apologies if anyone took offence.

  102. Amy says:

    @ScotchandBoots,

Your response is more than fair. And thank you for expressing your views in a succinct and respectful way.

  103. Joaquinne says:

Boo Radley, I also agree that the guy looks very sexy and handsome! 🙂 But if a post is going to be written with one line/link in the entry and a title like “Lululemon’s (unintentional?) Joke: Funny or Racist?” it really opens it up to interpretation…

  104. a good deal says:

generally articles some very fascinating stuff like this particular. If you’re new to this site.

  105. You could certainly see your skills in the paintings you write. The world hopes for more passionate writers such as you who are not afraid to say how they believe. Always go after your heart.
