“In Flanders Fields”
By Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead: Short days ago,
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved: and now we lie
In Flanders fields!
Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw
The torch: be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields
We will remember them.
Lest we forget…..
I have an assembly on this at school tomorrow. Like every other year that I can remember, I will probably cry. Yet, I don’t feel ashamed, because I have no right to.
We will remember.
Let us wear our poppies in remembrance today. Never forget.
Year after year, this poem brings me to tears when I read it to my class.

Yes, Thank You! We must never forget. I asked my 9 year old neighbour if she knew what remeberance day was and she didn’t. Does anyone know what the french equivalant is to the poem? I would love to make her a copy.I wanna ask her tonight if they honored it in school today.
Thanks, Sally.
No matter how many times I read this over the years I still tear up.

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning.
We will remember them.
God bless all who have served and those who continue to serve.
Je me souviens!
Thank you to all the men and women who helped and continue to help keep Canada free.
