Tomato lovers rejoice! Last week Boo brought tragic news to tomato addicts everywhere. A number of fast food chains including the big M had pulled tomatoes from their menu indefinitely while the FDA attempted to locate the source of a tomato-related salmonella outbreak. Although the FDA hasn’t been lucky enough to track down exactly where the issue started (they think it’s either Florida or Mexico) McDonald’s has announced that you can expect to start seeing a little red slice back on your Big Mac in the next 7-10 days.
Well that’s good I suppose. It drove me insane to see all the Canadian versions of the big US fast food franchises ALSO dropping the tomatoes… despite the fact that Canadian tomatoes were fine!
(Oh.. just a funny little note… Big Mac’s actually never have tomatoes 😉 )
We went to Kelsey’s yesterday and noticed a tomato alert on the door – didn’t read it.
But, we asked and our server told us they were indeed serving Ontario/Canadian tomatoes.
So we happily ordered our bruschetta etc.
