I’m very proud to say this! I’m proud that the SmartCanucks Community, which might not be familiar to many blog readers, has some of the most wonderful, caring and compassionate people ever 😀
Did you know that many SmartCanucks members collect coupons, use them to buy products and donated to shelters around Thanksgiving, Christmas and other times of the year? We have had this as an ongoing activity on SmartCanucks and it puts a smile on my face every time I read about these little special acts of kindness 🙂
I’ll share with you some of the many beautiful contributions over the next few months starting with the most recent:
As many of you know, I have been collecting stuff using coupons to make up shelter packs for the local women’s shelter in time for Thanksgiving.
Well, today, I finally finished them, as I picked up the last of the products I needed at Wal-mart’s Anniversary sale. I made 12 in all and I couldn’t have done this alone, as I’ve got a little help from my SC’r friends who have donated coupons towards my shelter stash. Thanks all
I called the shelter to let them know I will be deliverying them tomorrow and they were pleased to hear of my donation.
So, without further adieu, here is what is in them, what they look like and the rest of the details…
The finished bags – 12 in all!
A sample of the bags – these have two handles, a drawstring and are cloth mesh, so perfect to put damp toiletries in and hang up to dry out. What’s even better, they were only $1.00 ea. at the dollar store!
12 packs of Kotex pads
12 Cottonelle Travel Wipes
6 tubes of Arm & Hammer toothpastes
6 tubes of Crest toothpastes
9 cans of Satin Care Shave Gel
3 cans of Skintimate Shave Gel
12 Venus Razors
12 Dove Go Fresh Body Mists
12 Dove Go Fresh Beauty Bars
12 Herbal Essences 2 in 1 Shampoo Conditioner
12 Degree Deodorants
8 Dove Cream Oil Bodywash
4 Aveeno Bodywash
Finally, this is what one of the shelter packs looks like!
Feels good to be done, will feel better to deliver. I figure I probably spent about $10 a bag, but they are probably worth at least $40 each, so I am happy that I could contribute almost $500 worth of products to a worthwhile and deserving cause.
MXM, Addition Elle and Penningtons have 2 deals on right now and they can be combined into great savings!! Firstly, they have clothing in all 3 stores that are Buy One Get One 40% off (this deal is going on until Oct 6) . Secondly, they have a deal that will save you $10 for a purchase of $75 or more using coupon code EXTRA10 at checkout (this deal is only good until Sept 21). The best thing is that these deals can be “stacked”. Also, all 3 stores are affiliated online and have 1 common checkout so you can browse and shop a bit at each to get to the $75 mark.

sniperc151 posted pictures from her local Walmart Canada store in Grande Prairie, Alberta showing how they are breaking safety codes by placing products along Fire Exits:
I had to show you these pictures of walmart, I’m sure this is against about 100 fire codes.
I just bought a huge bunch of Vitamins from Walmart yesterday since they were on sale for 60% off! They’ll all have to go back so I can make use of these hot Jamieson coupons and save even more!
This week Walmart has 60% off all Jamieson products. On top of that Jamieson has $2 and $3 off printable coupons! After combining the Walmart flyer 60% sale with the coupons (yes Walmart does accept printable coupons) you’ll end up getting Vitamin C chewable for $0.39, Vita Vim Vitamins for $2.77 and other products like Omega 3 and more for very very cheap prices.
The Home Depot continues to run a promotion called Hammer Drop Deals (online only) and will be featuring a new item each day for a specially marked price.
Today’s deal is a really great one on a really nice area rug $200 off for only $99 (regular $299) with a limit of 5.
S&H is under $20 so this one is worth it if you’ve been looking for a relatively neutral rug … (hey Boo did you ever find one? 😉 )

Who doesn’t need new sweaters for the cold weather that is ahead? How about some cute argyle ones? All sweaters at Old Navy are on sale for $15 from Sept 25 – Oct 1. Go get them!! 🙂
Thanks to Nat for posting this deal for us!
Ashling just messaged me asking if I “need shaving cream? I was like “Suuuure” and turns out she was being serious and you can get it for FREE 😀
She posted it in the Canadian Shopping Deals section:
I was just at The Bargain! Shop (Ontario) and saw that they have the Gillette Foamy FULL SIZE products on for $1.99 each or 3 for $5. It is not in their flyer.
If you received the “Buy any 3 save $5” Gillette Brandsaver coupons in the newspaper or ordered them online, use them up!
I think the tag said valid until October 12th so there is still time to order the coupons and stock up

Ardene has a special on their denim and shirts, 2 for $30. I had no idea that Ardene sold clothing, I thought they were mainly an accessories store so I will totally have to check mine out next time I an in there because I love those checkered tops.
If you shop at Ardene frequently, you should really sign up for a VIP membership, it is free on the site, and you get 15% off.

Thank you to jaba for this great Optimum Points heads up!
From now until October 17th get 2000 bonus Optimum Points for the purchase of any participating Pampers Diaper Product. It doesn’t list the products included and says to see store for details. This is an especially good deal because this week you also get 3500 bonus points for spending $30 or more on baby products.
This is another great bonus points oppertunity to stockpile the points for the next double redemption day. I’m hoping to take part this time so I’ll be buying some pampers!

I just got this email from Chapters and it seems like an amazing deal. You get $45 in savings when you spend a minimum of $40 in store before taxes. The savings included are: $10 off $40 at Chapters/Indigo/Coles (I believe this is a coupon for your next purchase), 2 for 1 adult admission to Cineplex and $25 off $100 at Roots.
The fine print says this deal is not available in Atlantic Canada and other select stores so you may want to call your store and find out if they are doing it. This promo is running until October 30 or while quantities last.
I need to pick up some books for birthdays so this is a nice extra for me. I really like the $10 off $40 for Chapters and the 2 for 1 Cineplex admission. I have a friend who is a Roots fiend so I’ll give that to her for her Christmas shopping. I love when Chapters gives out extra perks like this!

There’s a new Busy Bone coupon on save.ca. Save $2.00 on Busy Bone Ultimate Chew. This is a great coupon because it makes these treats half price. Also if you have a London Drugs you can stack the old $3.00 Busy Bone with this one to get $5.00 off the Busy Bone Ultimate Chew (I think they’re a bit more expensive at London Drugs so this should make it free).
Great coupon I’m sure my dog will love.

I am sooo jealous about this one!! I have a 8 month old and I would love to be able to go to this sale, but once again, it’s a bit far from Alberta for me. This sounds like a great place to get some amazing deals. Have fun all you Brampton folk out there!
