Ah, thanks to a reminder, here’s the site I was thinking of for Movies in the Park which lists the free movies all across Alberta for the entire summer season. You can sign up for email reminders if you like.

This isn’t the particular site I was thinking of but a good resource nonetheless. It’s got listings for Toronto, Edmonton, Vancouver, Sussex, Whistler, Tsawwasen and more! If I do find that other site, I’ll be sure to post it but do check this one out.

They’ve recently added some more dates to the free Movies on the Square. Usually they don’t know what movies will be shown until closer to the actual date so stay tuned for updates. I’m wading through my bookmarks to find a link for more free movies in more areas so be patient and stay tuned!
It’s baaaaack! Get all your vintage valuables even cheaper on Monday! I used to live a block away from a Value Village and had fun seeking unique books and clothing and such.

Ok, Mr. Squires I waited all day to see if you would post this and you haven’t…. So I figured it would be ok if I took the McDonald’s reins from you for this one post. I promise you can have them back the second I publish this. 🙂 (Whew what a mouthful that was!)
Now for the post….. (drumroll optional)
Good Ole’ Mc’ds is offering $1 fountain pop of any size for what looks to be all Summer.
Not a bad deal if you got a thirsty crew! Especially at the prices of name brand pop right now!
What does huggable Grimace have anything to do with McDonald’s pop? Nothing really but he is kind of a cute for a purple blobby thing.

I’ve gone to a few of these and they’re pretty fun! They have a huge inflatable movie screen set up in Churchill Square and you bring a lawn chair, blankets, whatever. They sell cheap snacks on site including popcorn and canned pop and candy. They sell glow necklaces, too. Before the movie, they (smartly so) have about an hour of entertainment for the kids like putting contests and right before the show a super dance-off to wear them right out. It’s awesome! Fun to watch the kids dance and it makes the movie watching experience so much better because the kids aren’t running around. Even the bums stop by and watch. Can’t beat a free flick no matter what your circumstances!
Update: It seems to be working again now! HURRY!
Thanks mlissabee for posting this freebie in the Canadian Freebies section.
Unfortunately I didn’t have time to check the freebies forum yesterday and missed that awesome Venus Embrace Razor freebie 🙁
The reason I’m posting about it here is because the form is still up (but the send button is not working), so maybe this freebie will be back sometime today or maybe someone can figure out a way of submitting the info.

The Canadian Press:
Via Rail will offer free basic rail travel for military personnel and veterans again this summer (2009).
The company says the free tickets will be offered in July to all serving and former members of the Forces, with other discounts available for their dependents.
A soldier or vet travelling free will be able to bring up to five family members along at half price.
They will also be offered half-price tickets for travel in business, sleeper and touring classes.
The Crown corporation offered a similar program last July and says about 60,000 people took the deal.

I’ve never been to an Applebee’s although it’s been on my list of restaurants to checkout. Interestingly the only Applebee’s I’ve come across were either in the US or Europe. We don’t seem to have too many Applebee’s restaurants in Canada. When travelling I always seem to find somewhere better or a restaurant unique to the city I’m in to try out and Applebee’s doesn’t get any love.
Anyhow, if you’re an Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar fan you can sign-up for the mailing list to receive coupons, deals and other updates featuring new menu items and special events.

Cute kids are cute. Creepy kids are creepy. This one wins in both categories. That grin just spooks me right out! 😛
50’s nostaglia space toys always give me a chuckle. Kind of warms my heart to think about what it must have been like to dream about space while we were in the process of tackling it for the first time.
But enough of my waxing poetic — on with the captions!
