It’s a crazy thought, I know. Just hear me out.

Over the past few months Loblaw’s have changed the packaging on their No Name brand back to the old school look it had in the 80’s; simple black text on a yellow background, no pictures or unnecessary info. That on its own doesn’t raise any red flags. But, when that new packaging starts showing up on items that were formerly President’s Choice brand? That’s a bell-ringer.

Pictured above is a bottle of No Name Ginger Ale that I picked up last night at Zehrs. Until now, Loblaw’s has used their President’s Choice branding when it came to their in-house soft drinks. I’ve been buying their PC Ginger Ale religiously for a decade (it’s easily the best GA on the market), yet as I looked down the aisle there wasn’t a single President’s Choice 2L in sight.

Could this be an isolated incident? Is it possible they’re just switching their pop from one in-house branding to another? Absolutely. But it’s equally possible that the new No Name branding is going to slowly replace the President’s Choice label.

Sure it would be complete madness on their part, but then again somebody thought New Coke was a good idea.

Has anyone out there noticed any other President’s Choice products that have made the switch?

I was reading someone’s comment about asking for discounts at stores etc.

So I just wanted to let everyone know… because I used to work at Zellers, They have what is called the 30 30 rule.

Which means any store employee is entitled to give a 30% discount to anyone on any item without having to go to a supervisor or manager. They will say ” I’ll give you 10 % off ” because they are supposed to give you the lowest possible. Just say No I’ll take the 30%. Just remind them of their rule!

It’s good to see Lululemon Athletica Canada’s online shopping store finally has a deals and discounts section. Lululemon has a new discount and deals section called “Loot”. This section still has very limited selection and nothing for men yet but it’s a good start. I had a quick look at the items on sale in the Loot section and compared it to regular priced items. Women’s tanks are on sale for $39 in LLL Loot while regular priced ones are usually in the $50 to $55 range. That’s around 25% discount which for Lululemon’s sale history that’s rather impressive.

There’s a relatively new show on HBO Canada that I strongly recommend if you enjoyed reading the Twilight series. That show is called True Blood and is based on the Southern Vampire Book Series by Charlaine Harris  Thanks to a Japanese scientist’s invention of synthetic blood, vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. And while humans have supposedly been removed from the menu, many remain apprehensive about these creatures “coming out of the coffin.” Religious leaders and government officials around the world have chosen their sides.

This isn’t your typical story and that’s what I like about it. I’m also a fan of the Twilight series so this seems to fit in nicely. Season One’s over and Season Two starts on June 14th, 2009. You can get Season 1 from torrents Amazon.ca or any DVD store.

…well, this bridge does anyways. While in no way does it have any direct relationship with McDonald’s, tell me seeing this doesn’t make you want a Big Mac right now.
