First of all I’d like to thank Koala who took the time and effort to meet with the CTV crew and represent SmartCanucks in the wonderful way she did. I’m looking forward to seeing her interview this Thursday. More details from Koala:
Smart Canucks will be on Canada AM this Thursday July 9 @ 7:45 am EST
and will also air
Thursday July 9 on CTV @ 6 pm EST
( Pat Foran’s segment is usually about 6:20 pm EST)He says there is a good possibility it will go NATIONAL and the west and east coasts may air this as well, so you will have to check your listings.

Just saw the interview on the 6 o’clock news, great poise and really well spoken – I loved the part about the stigma of using coupons as embarrassing – it’s totally true, people don’t want their image to be tarnished by using coupons. If people still follow this adage, they’re losing out big time!!!

Yes–thanks for addressing that coupon stigma! Even my husband is embarrassed to use coupons (but he’ll ask if I have a coupon for an item he wants if I’m picking it up for him!) I don’t get it!
Great interview! I made sure I was around to watch! The great thing was, you made using coupons seem mainstream, appealing to people who could see the value of a TV, sofa, and refrigerator (and of sometimes starting to use coupons because of one’s financial situation) if they couldn’t otherwise see the point of regular coupon use. Because of this, I’m kind of glad they didn’t focus on how people can get huge stashes or stack coupons with wild abandon at LD. Might have made couponers seem like crazed hoarders!
I think your interview will inspire people to join SC. It would be interesting to know how many more people join in the next few days.

I have to admit, the last few days have been an emotional high, and I am proud of how the interview is received.
I’m very pleased to say we have over 1,000 new members since it aired yesterday morning.
This whole experience has my creative juices flowing, and I hope to add some nice & new ideas to the site.

I too, appreciate your comments about the stigma that some people have over using coupons. You get over it very quickly when you get compliments from cashiers, from other shoppers standing in line behind you, and your friends and family, when they see how much you saved! Hell! I might not have saved enough to buy a huge big screen TV or SS fridge, but I’m working on it!
