Walmart Canada Offers: Haagen-Dazs Launches Alcohol Flavoured Ice Cream at Walmart

I honestly never thought that ice cream could ever be improved upon, as how can you improve upon something that’s already perfect? Well, Haagen-Dazs Canada is out to challenge my assumptions about the world as they are now offering a new line of ice cream that is arguably going to topple all other offerings that I’ve sampled in my lifetime; Haagen-Dazs is releasing a new line of alcohol flavoured ice cream and you can pick up this exclusive line at Walmart Canada for the fairly reasonable price of $5.98.

There are five great new flavours to choose from that have profiles similar to the drinks you’d be throwing back on a patio this summer, but instead you can enjoy these delicious new ice creams from the comfort of your own home and, oh, did I mention, it’s ice cream?

The new flavours are:

  • HÄAGEN-DAZS Spirits Vodka Key Lime Pie
  • HÄAGEN-DAZS Spirits Whiskey Chocolate Truffle
  • HÄAGEN-DAZS Spirits Rum Vanilla Caramel Blondie
  • HÄAGEN-DAZS Spirits Rum Ginger Cookie
  • HÄAGEN-DAZS Spirits Irish Cream Coffee & Biscotti

And if you’re looking for inspiration for how to take your alcohol flavoured ice cream to the next level (*note: there’s less than 1% alcohol in each of the ice creams), you should check out these boozy ice cream floats.

Sears Canada Looks to Begin Liquidation Process in July

After filing with the Ontario Superior Court, Sears Canada has submitted for approval that they commence with the liquidation process beginning on July 21. This means that the final sale prices being offered during the liquidation process could begin as early as next week, should the request be approved.

Sears announced last month that they would be shuttering 59 of their stores, which included the laying off of 2,900 employees. These 59 stores are spilt between Hometown dealer franchises (14 of the 59) and regularly owned and operated Sears. So for the most part, the liquidation process, once it begins, will be carried out by third-party liquidators.

In total, there is going to be 20 full-line Sears department stores closing down and another 15 Sears Home stores in locations like Scarborough, London, Ancaster, Woodbridge, Windsor, Orillia, Kingston and Sudbury are going to be shut down as well.

As part of the liquidation rules, Sears has stipulated that stores will not be allowed to advertise using the words, “bankruptcy” “liquidation” or “going out of business”, but they will be permitted to advertise using signs that say, “everything on sale”, “everything must go”, or “store closing”.

Neon advertising is also not permitted and all signs must be professional looking, which means no handwritten signs are allowed.

There has yet to be any information about the size or kinds of discounts that will be available in the liquidation sale, but we’ll be sure to post about this as soon as we receive any information about it.

Bank of Canada Raises Interest Rate for First Time in 7 Years

The Bank of Canada has raised its key interest rate to 0.75% (from 0.50%). This hike in interest rate is the first in seven years. Such a move is bound to increase the costs of mortgages, home equity lines of credit and other loans linked to the big bank prime rates.

In a statement accompanying the rate decision, the central bank said the Canadian economy has been robust, fuelled by household spending. The interest rate increase had been widely expected after senior Bank of Canada officials signalled in speeches and interviews over the past weeks that lower rates had done their job, and the Canadian economy was performing well.

This year’s savings will actually be lasting for 30 hours, and beginning slowly on Monday, July 10th at 9pmET and continuing to update every five minutes thereafter with new hot deals until Wednesday, July 12th at 3amET.

Also, keep in mind that Amazon might actually be offering discounted Amazon Prime memberships during Prime Day.

Keep an eye on the Amazon Prime Day page, as they will be updating the deals throughout the day so as to encourage people who may be a bit later to the game.
