Air Canada is currently holding a two day seat sale in which you can find some amazing deals on one way flights to destinations around the world. It seems these prices are lower than their typical weekly deals at the beginning of each week, and many of the prices even beat the offers during WestJet’s 2 Day Seat sale, so it’s worth heading online to check prices before the sale is over!
During Air Canada’s 2 day seat sale you can find some great deals on flights within Canada, many at lower prices than offered earlier this week during weekly sales. Right now you can fly from Toronto to Thunder Bay for$135, which is slightly cheaper than the $151 offered earlier in the week. You can also fly from Toronto to Vancouver for $293, which is a lower price than the $327 WestJet is offering during their current sale.
If you’re looking to travel to a sunny destination, you can fly with Air Canada from Toronto to Cancun for $240 one way, or Toronto to Bermuda for $180. Air Canada’s flight to Bermuda is slightly cheaper than WestJet’s price, as they are offering the same flight for $185.
This offer ends September 24, 2015 at 11:59pm ET. Prices are subject to availabilty. Additional charges may apply.

Apple Canada has recently announce the release of a new item to the iPad lineup, the iPad Pro. It’s due to hit stores this November and is already generating a lot of buzz! This supersized iPad boasts a 12.9 inch screen and the tablet itself is as thin as the iPad Air!
Features include:
powered by a new A9x 64-bit chip – said to perform 1.9 times faster than it’s smaller counterpart
iOS 9 software
4 speakers that are 3x louder than the iPad Air and automatically balance the audio on the left and right sides
Weighs 1.53lbs (almost the same as the original iPad)
2,732×2,048-pixel resolution
Touch ID sensor built into the home button
8-megapixel iSight camera
Probably the most interesting thing about this new iPad is that it supports a pressure-sensitive stylus, the Apple Pencil, made specifically for this model. It also has a few other high end accessories including a smart keyboard and smart cover, which are quite similar to the well known accessories for the Microsoft surface.
The iPad Pro will be available in silver, gold and space grey. There is no Canadian pricing the iPad Pro yet, but US pricing is as follows:
$799USD for 32GB WiFi
$949USD for 128GB WiFi
$1079USD for 128GB WiFi + cellular
The Apple Pencil is also being listed as $99USD so far. Apple Canada has announced that the iPad Pro will be released this November, but no specific date has been provided.

Apple Canada has recently announced that the official release of the latest iPhones, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are due to hit stores on September 25, 2015. First released in 2007, the iPhone quickly rose to become one of the most recognizable and popular smartphones worldwide!
The latest version of the iPhone will come either in the iPhone 6s, an improved version of last year’s iPhone 6, or in the iPhone 6s Plus, a larger version of the phone.
The iPhone 6s has hardware much like the iPhone 6, but the chassis is now made of a stronger aluminum that was first used in the Apple Watch. The phone is available in 4 colours including gold, silver, space grey, and new rose-gold. Apple states that the chip inside the phone is 70% faster than the iPhone 6 and has 90% better graphics performance. The iPhone 6s also has a 12 megapixel rear facing camera which is an improvement on the previous model’s 8 megapixel camera, however the front facing camera remains 5 megapixels. The new phone also has 2GB of RAM, more than any previous phone model! The iPhone 6s Plus boasts the same specifications, but has a much larger 5.5 inch screen.
The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus can be pre-ordered beginning on September 12, 2015. They don’t seem to be selling out as quickly online this year as in the past, as I noticed quite a few left on Apple’s website. The phone will be released in stores in Canada and world wide on September 25, 2015. You can head into an Apple Store beginning at 8am on the 25th to pick up an unlocked version of the phone. There tends to be a lineup for new phones at larger malls, so I would suggest arriving a few hours early to guarantee you get your phone. You can also pre-order and purchase a phone through many wireless providers such as Bell and Rogers, however these phones will be locked to your provider.
Apple iPhone 6s pricing in Canada is as follows:
iPhone 6s 16GB – $899+tax
iPhone 6s 64GB – $1029+tax
iPhone 6s 128GB – $1159+tax
Apple iPhone 6s Plus pricing in Canada:
iPhone 6s Plus 16GB – $1029+tax
iPhone 6s Plus 64GB – $1159+tax
iPhone 6s Plus 128GB – $1289+tax
Unfortunately, it seems as though the iPhone prices this year have jumped up at least $100 from previous years. However, if you’re looking to get a new phone, the release of the newest iPhone model means that previous models should have price drops soon!
Will you be purchasing the new iPhone 6s or 6s Plus models?
Dollarama Inc says the weaker Canadian dollar is forcing it to raise prices and could lead the discount retailer to increase its current price threshold from $3 to as much as $4 by late next year.
“The probability is in the third and fourth quarter of next year, we’ll have to move our price points up” CEO Larry Rossy said, “In general, we like to maintain our prices as long as we can, but this is really an exceptional time where the Canadian dollar has gone so poorly against the U.S. dollar and everything is bought in U.S. dollars. So to absorb 25 to 35 per cent (in currency swing) is almost impossible.”
However, Rossy said the new, higher-priced items would not lead to the introduction of new product categories. Food, for example, would remain priced at a maximum of $2. The company could mitigate pricing pressures by reducing product sizes.
Whether your travel plans are big or small for this coming fall/winter, then you should still check out this seat sale from Air Canada. In this sale, you can grab a round trip ticket from Toronto to Sydney, Australia for as little as $1,987. For the international flights, however, there will be exclusions that you should pay close to attention to.
These include:
only flights on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays
departure dates between: November 1st and November 30th or February 1st to April 5th, 2016
return dates between: November 2nd to December 31st or January 19th, 2016 to August 31st, 2016
with maximum length of stay of 12 months
If your travel is being kept local for the season, there are still some rather hot offers to pick up on also. Keep in mind that all of the U.S., Canadian, and Sun destinations are listed in one-way ticket prices, whereas the international destinations are listed in round-trip. There are other restrictions for each destination you choose, so be wary of these before you go ahead with booking your trip.
You must book by September 13th at 11:59pm EDT to receive the discounted ticket prices for these flights.

McDonald’s Canada has recently announced that it will make the move to serve free-run eggs exclusively in its restaurants over the next 10 years. The decision was announced after years of mounting consumer pressure on the chain to improve animal welfare and animal quality used in its mass food supply.
Free-run eggs, however are different from free-range eggs. Free-range eggs mean that the chickens are allowed to roam freely outdoors, whereas free-run, which McDonald’s has decided to go with, with allow the hens to run freely indoors. Even this is a vast improvement, as it is reported that 95% of hens in Canada and the US are restricted to spending their lives in battery cages.
5% off McDonald’s eggs will be free-run by the end of this month, and 10% are expected to be free-run by the end of this year. Even this small of a change in 2015 will make a huge difference on the industry as McDonald’s used 120 million eggs a year for its breakfast items and 76 million alone just for its Egg McMuffin sandwiches.
The cost of free-run eggs is a worry to many, as free-run and cage-free eggs in grocery stores can cost up to twice the amount of regular eggs, however McDonald’s doesn’t see this as an issue, believing costs for free-run eggs will become lower as the rest of the industry adopts the practice.
McDonald’s competitors have already made similar moves in the past. Burger King committed in 2012 to be 100% cage-free by 2017, and Tim Hortons already sources at least 10% of its egg supply from enriched cage or cage-free systems. McDonald’s hopes to be 100% free-run in the next 10 years.

Great news for those of you looking for more dairy alternatives for your coffees, Starbucks Canada is now serving coconut milk! After thousands of votes on websites like MyStarbucksIdea, tweets and barista requests, Starbucks has begun to serve Starbucks Single Origin Sumatra Coconut Milk in stores across the country as of September 8, 2015.
It’s already been an option in the US since February 2015, and has finally made its way to Canada. Coconut milk is just the latest addition in ways you can customize your drink, as Starbucks currently offers numerous options including soy milk, 2%, non-fat, whole milk, half-and-half and in some areas lactose-free milk. It’s great for any of you out there who are looking for vegan alternatives to milk, as the Single Origin Sumatra Coconut Milk is certified vegan! It’s also made from more than your regular coconut, as they use single-origin coconuts from the Indonesian island of Sumatra.
Starbucks Single Origin Sumatra Coconut Milk was developed by Starbucks research and development team to accompany drinks such as their hot, iced and Frappuccino beverages and is said to have a rich and creamy taste. Will you be trying it in your morning coffee?
Safeway is recalling field cucumbers and various in-store produced products that contain cucumbers purchased from Safeway due to possible Salmonella contamination. This recall applies to fresh field cucumbers sold in bulk, unwrapped and various in-store produced products that contain cucumbers, such as Greek salad, vegetable trays, sushi and sandwiches purchased from Safeway on or before September 6, 2015. Consumers who are unsure if they have purchased affected products should check with their Safeway store.
Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.
Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea.
Before you break into your Labour Day weekend festivities, be sure to check the labels on the Smirnoff Ice brand beverages you may have purchased to kick off the long weekend. Diageo Canada has voluntarily issued this recall and it is a class 2 level, meaning that it affects everyone nationwide. The reason for this recall is because the company suspects that there could be a glass contamination in a wide variety of their bottles. The bottles include nearly every Smirnoff Ice brand product, and also every size, so be sure to check the UPC codes on your bottles to see if they match with any of the ones mentioned in the product recall.
You can see a full list on the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s website with the detailed UPC codes. However, here is a list of the brands that were included in the recall:
Smirnoff Ice
Smirnoff Ice Peach Bellini
Smirnoff Ice Green Apple
Smirnoff Ice Raspberry
Smirnoff Ice Cranberry and Lime
Smirnoff Ice Watermelon Mimosa
Smirnoff Ice Orange Screwdriver
Smirnoff Ice Light
Smirnoff Ice The Life of the Party Pack
The CFIA advises you to either throw out these bottles, or return them to the liquor store you purchased them at for a refund.
