Real Canadian Superstore’s Price Promise Extended (Ontario Only)

superstore

If you’re like me you’ll be happy to know Real Canadian Superstore has extended their Price Promise here in Ontario. No details as to when it is ending but my fingers are crossed that they’ll make it permanent.

Here is all the fine print:

“Show us a lower advertised price on an identical item and we will match it. Applies only to our major supermarket competitor’s print advertisements in Ontario (i.e. flyer, newspaper). We will match the competitor’s advertised price only during the effective date of the their print advertisement. Our major supermarket competitors are determined solely by us and are based on a number of factors which can change from time to time. Identical items are defined as same brand, item type (in the case of produce, meat and bakery), size and attributes and carried at this store location.  We will not match ‘multi-buys’ (e.g. 2 for $4), ‘spend x get x’, ‘free’, ‘clearance, discounts obtained through loyalty programs, or offers related to our third party operations (post office, gas bar, dry cleaners, etc.). We reserve the right to cancel or change the terms of this promise at any time.”

I’d have to say I like price matching best at No Frills but our store is fairly small and that limits selection. Before the Price Promise if No Frills didn’t carry something I needed to price match, I used to end up going way out in the boonies to Walmart. Most of the time the shelves were cleared by the time I got there. Last month I loved going in to the Superstore  during one of their tax-free weekends or on Tuesday and using the Price Promise along with 10% student discount.

Happy New Years Canada

newyear

Happy New Years to all our readers.  I hope 2012 is a great year for you and your loved ones.  Please remember tonight if your celebrating to arrive alive and do not not drink and drive.  If you cannot get public transit, stay at a friends etc.

Do you make New Years resolutions? I was just telling Boo the other day that I don’t make New Years resolutions.  I make end of January efforts.  I will be smoke free for 3 years straight the middle of January 2012.  Just when a lot of people are failing their resolutions I start mine.  For some twisted and demented reason it gives me more reason not to fail.  This year I need to diet correctly and get back on track with my eating.  With diabetes I need to concentrate on my health more.   If you make resolutions what are yours?

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Canada

christmas_canada1

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays loyal readers!  Pop in your fireplace dvd and enjoy the weekend.

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

“Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!”

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!”

Canadian Deals: Gingerbread House Decorating Party at Foodland $6.99 per child

Foodland will be holding gingerbread house decorating parties this holiday season.   Dates and times will vary by location, find the store nearest you here.

I’ve been pondering if I want to bring my little guy to one of these classes but him not even being two I think it’d be less decorating and demolition and shoving gumdrops in his mouth.
