I Hate Moola

If you google for moola invitations SmartCanucks.ca is the first search result: Check it here. This is driving large traffic to my website (not necessarily welcomed traffic since not all people looking for moola invitations are Canadians). I therefore sent an email to moola.com asking them to provide SmartCanucks visitors with invitations since I get too many requests. Fair?

I thought so until I got their reply. Their reply is just sad and disappointing:

Thank you for your inquiry.

We appreciate your interest and support in our site. While we recognize that your offer would be beneficial to us, we are currently limiting the number of invitations available in order to control the growth rate of the site. Therefore, we are unable to participate in your program at this time.

Again, we appreciate your interest and will keep your contact information on file for reference when considering future partnership opportunities.

Moola.com

Well their “Business Development Team” have no clue about business development 🙁

Canadian Code of Practice Scanner Price Accuracy

Have you ever been shopping when you find an item, read its displayed price and decide to buy that item but then when you checkout the cashier scans it for a different price? a much higher price? Yes it happens to all of us and the cashier does one of two things… either apologizes for the wrong price and says he/she’ll charge you the lower displayed price or the cashier just acts like a total %$# and says the display price is wrong.

Well in both cases believe it or not, many well known stores in Canada should give you the item for FREE! Many chains are members in Canada’s Scanner Price Accuracy Voluntary Code.

How does the code work?
If the scanned price of an non-price ticketed item is higher than the shelf price or any other displayed price, the customer is entitled to receive the item free, up to a $10 maximum. When the item has a price tagged, the lowest price applies. When identical items are incorrectly priced, the second one will be sold at the correct price. Under this code you are eligible

What does the code cover?
The Code covers all scanned merchandise at participating retail outlets where the “Scanner Price Accuracy Voluntary Code” sign is displayed at the store entrance or checkout. Note that you’ve probably seen this sign before but never knew what it is. A&P have it posted on every checkout isle.

What happens if two or more identical non-price ticketed items are incorrectly scanned?
Customers are entitled to the first item free (up to a maximum of $10) and the subsequent item(s) at the correct price.

Which stores participate in this code?
Here’s a rough list of participating stores. Please feel free to notify of additions/deletions to this list:

the Canadian Association of Chain Drug Stores (CACDS)
Shoppers Drug Mart
The Groupe Jean Coutu (NB and Ont only)
Lawton Drug Stores
London Drugs

I just find it strange though that they don’t ask for province. How do they know which province the address is in? I guess they can find out from the postcode, but just incase maybe you can try typing the province name (and city) in the city field.

Update: I forgot to add a link to this freebie yesterday! I’m very sorry about that. Here is the link.

Suzanne, I removed your comment just to protect your own privacy. You can order the sample directly from GlaxoSmithKline using the above link. I hope you understand and sorry for any confusion I might have caused.

Bunnies & Eggs on Sale

Easter is over, but this only means that bunnies and eggs are going to be on clearance at Shoppers Drug Mart, Pharma Plus, Zellers, Walmart, etc.

I tried finding the best deals out there:

Cadbury EggI went to Shoppers Drug Mart today and they had the Cadbury Eggs (Crème, Peanut Butter and WonderBar eggs) reduced to 59 cents (regular is 99 cents). I’m not sure if this is at all Shoppers Drug Mart branches but from the way it’s priced I can almost 99% guess that it’s on sale at all (or at least Ontario) Shoppers Drug Marts.

Easter Bunny Clearance

Lindt Gold Bunnies are on sale for $1.96 (save $4.00) at Pharma Plus. This offer is in the weekly Pharma Plus flyer.

If you can’t find the Lindt Gold Bunnies at Pharma Plus, Zellers also had them on sale for $2.49 and Staples is expected to reduce them to $2.97.

I also suggest you checkout your local Wal-mart and other grocery stores. The sooner you go the better. By Wednesday, most Easter chocolate will be gone so hurry.

Download the New MSN Messenger Beta

MSN MessengerYou can now download the new msn messenger beta (without an inviation). Basically go to Microsoft’s Live website here, click on Windows Live Messenger beta and then click on sign up and follow instructions.

I’m using this MSN Messenger Beta right now and it has some new features like the ability to send offline messages (AT LAST!) and many more bells and whistles.
