SmartCanucks Scavenger Hunt: Week 2

Welcome back to the SmartCanucks Scavenger Hunt — our weekly challenge to our readers to find the lowest price on a specific item! In our first week we were looking for the lowest price on a floor lamp. The lowest price (although unconfirmed) comes to us from meisagirl who found “a nice one, silver with a shade that can be an up or down shade for $7.99” at XSCargo. Thanks meisagirl!

For week 2, we’re going to look for something a little more specific. This week we’re going to look for the lowest price on something almost all of us could use — a 2GB SD Card. As always, we’re going to stick with retailers, so no eBay or freecycle-type deals. It can be any brand, so long as it’s a 2GB SD Card.

That’s it, dealketeers! Happy hunting!

  16. hm says:

there are various classes of them–some are faster than others. also the ‘better/well known’ brands are usually a bit more pricey. i saw an 8GB one at bestbuy during boxing week.. it was 10 or 15$ if i recall.

  17. Candy says:

Thanks for the explanation hm! Say for example… if I were looking for a fast 2gb SD card… which one would I get? They all look the same in the store and prices are all over the place!

  18. Lurker-galore says:

    $49.95 Wooohooo!

  24. RJ says:

Whenever I am looking for an electronics deal, I always check local sales flyers, websites such as ncix.com, newegg.ca, shoprbc.com and then bring it into Best Buy or similar shop that has a “match it, plus 10% of the difference” policy for a matching product. Bought myself a 4GB Micro SDHC for $18 ($20 elsewhere, $40 for that particular brand at Bestbuy), and a D-Link 802.11N wireless router for $48 recently ($50 elsewhere, $70 at bestbuy). May only be $4 saved, but also meant one place to goto, rather than 2, and no hassle…

  25. FunkyMunky says:

    RJ – I bought a 4GB for $14.00 @ Futurshop
    now they have 2 for $20 deal – http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10109023&catid=25942
