This weekend at NCIX Canada, until May 20th, they will be running their Loooong Weekend sale, as this Monday is Victoria Day. And what better way to celebrate a paid day off work, well, for some of us, then to drop some hard earned money on a hot gadget or tech deal?
There are a number of hot offers available in this week’s promotion at NCIX, including products like a 27-in LED Widescreen Monitor from ACER that is on sale for $199.99 (was $273.98), but what really stands out is that NCIX will also be providing free-shipping on all orders that are $50 or more.
This particular deal, while it is under $50, will still qualify for the free-shipping offer from NCIX, making it an exceptionally hot deal. This Steelseries 3HV2 Gaming Headset With a Retractable Microphone (recertified) is currently on sale for just $14, though before it was being sold for $35 more than that. The headphones have an all-leather design, to provide maximum comfort during your listening experience and are also rather convenient as they are light enough to be easily transported from home to wherever it is your day may take you. You can read through reviews if you are unsure of this product, but most of them will confirm that these headphones are a solid purchase with the quality being surprising good – especially for the price point.
Another hot find from within NCIX’s long weekend sale was the $25 you will save on the Kingston HyperX Fury Dual Memory Kit, as the kit is now on sale for just $64.98 (was $89.99). The Kingston HyperX has 8GB of memory available and would provide great performance for any PC user, no matter your usage style or preferences.

Lowe’s Canada will be celebrating the long weekend by giving you a present, and that present – depending on your region – could save you up to 13% off, as Lowe’s will be hosting a save the tax event for this May Long Weekend. You can shop this event both in-store and online, though if you are shopping online the discount will only be 11.5%, which if you’re shopping from British Columbia or Ontario won’t be very good deal. Also, to receive the online discount you will have to enter the promo code, SAVETHETAX, at the checkout.
Within the save the tax sale at Lowe’s, you will be able to save up to $300 off on your purchase of patio furniture, but remember that you will not be permitted to save the tax on clearance items. Depending on the region you are shopping within, the exact amount of money you save will vary. The breakdown of the discounts will look something like this:
- Ontario, save 13% sales tax
- British Columbia, save 12% sales tax
- Saskatchewan, save 10% sales tax
- Alberta, save 1o% on purchase

Shoppers Drug Mart Canada is hosting one of their spend your points events this weekend, on Saturday, May 16th through to Sunday, May 17th. During this event, you will be able to save up to $200 off on your purchase, should you spend the qualifying amount of 95,000 Optimum points. That’s an extra $30 in savings, as usually you would only receive $170 off on your purchase of 95,000 points.
If you don’t have quite that many points, you can still stand to save a little extra, as when you spend 50,000 Optimum points (on either Saturday or Sunday) you will receive an extra $15 off, as your total amount off will be $100 rather than the usual $185.
Shoppers Drug Mart will also be running a two-day sale in-store this weekend, where you can pick up Cashmere or Royale Bathroom Tissue in 9-12 rolls for just $3.99. I’d suggest that you check out the flyer before heading into the spend your points event, so that you don’t double buy anything at the grocery store that you could’ve picked up at Shoppers for cheaper.
For those of you not able to take advantage of the Sport Chek Canada Friends and Family event taking place today and tomorrow, you may want to head over to Sports Experts Canada instead to shop their tax-free sale on all regular priced merchandise. This sale will be on in-store merchandise only, and will be running until Monday, May 18th.
While the discount of about 13%-15% isn’t quite as nice as the 25% off that Sport Chek is offering on regular priced items, it is still a discount and the sale will also be lasting longer than Sport Chek’s sale. Within Quebec, you will have the GST and HST deducted from the cost, while in Ontario and New Brunswick you will have the HST deducted. The only location that this sale may not be going on is the Canmore location.

The Punjabi International Film Festival, which is one of the largest South Asian film festivals in North America, is being hosted in Toronto this year over the Victoria Day long weekend (from May 14th-May 18th). During this festival, you can make a request to receive a free film screening pass to almost all of the movies. This would be a fun (and cheap) option for your Friday night date night, or even if you’re looking for something inexpensive to do with a friend on one of this weekend’s lazy afternoons in.
You will be limited to two passes per request, or rather per e-mail, so if you wanted to take the whole family out (or a large group of friends) then you would need to have a couple of people from your group request free tickets.
As we mentioned earlier today, Sport Chek Canada is hosting one of their semi-annual Friends and Family events where you can take 25% off on all regular price merchandise, plus an extra 10% off on already reduced styles. This event takes place both in-store and online, however, to successfully claim your discount online you will have to enter the promo code, FF0515W. Earlier we mentioned that you must use the promo code, FF0515A, which also appears to be working, but you cannot stack the two codes to receive double the savings; it’s one or the other.
When I was browsing within the running sneakers section I found the shoes I use to train with being sold at regular price for $129.99. However, after using the Friends and Family promo code, I was able to purchase New Balance Zante B running shoes for just $97.49.
Since I was saving about $33 on my shoes, I thought I could put the money I saved towards a new pair of running shorts as well. Since running shorts don’t usually sell at this price point, I decided to check out the 30% off Nike sale that Sport Chek is running right now. These Nike Full Flex 2-IN-1 Shorts at regular price are sold for $47.99, but until May 18th, they will be on sale for just $33.59. If you were to purchase them during the Friends and Family event, which ends Friday, May 15th at 6am EST, then you will only have to pay $30.23.
Another sweet offer that will be going on at Sport Chek during the Friends and Family event is the offer of free-shipping on all orders with no minimum purchase required. For your order to qualify for free-shipping, like the Friends and Family promo code, you must complete your order by 6am EST on Friday, May 15th.

Looking for an inexpensive date night out this weekend? Then look no further then this free comedy event taking place on Saturday, May 16th in Toronto, ON at the Korean Cowboy on Yonge St. Tickets for the Cowboy Comedy night at the Korean Cowboy normally sell for $10, but when you use the promo code, surprise, at the checkout you will get your tickets discounted to being free.
There will also be a surprise guest comedian performing for this weekend’s show, which will begin at 8:00pm and go until approximately 10:30pm.

This weekend, Adidas Canada will be hosting a Friends and Family event where you can save 40% off on all regular priced merchandise found both in-store and online. The discount will be automatically applied to your cart once you have added a qualifying product, but sadly, already reduced merchandise cannot be used in this offer for a stacked savings.
That being said, you can use this discount on a variety of sports gear including, tennis and golf shoes, running sneakers, and even soccer accessories. For instance, these Adidas F50 Lite Shin Guards would normally be $25, but with the family and friends discount they will be reduced to just $15. The savings get even bigger on the more expensive products, like these women’s Yvori training shoes which were previously being sold for $110 but are now only $66.
You can also pick up apparel from Adidas that isn’t necessarily just for sport and has more of a fashionable appeal with a bit of a sporty influence. This women’s City Tokyo Hoodie could be worn for a relaxed weekend look just as easily as it could be worn for a post-game cool down. Lids Canada is hosting a buy more, save more event where you can save up to $20 off on your online order, should you spend the minimum amount of $80. The incentive in this offer is that you will be rewarded with a larger discount the more you spend, though personally, when I was shopping within the sale I was trying to stay as close as possible to the minimum requirements so that I could make the most of my discount.
One of the offers is a $5 off promo code, 5off24, on your purchase of $24 or more. If I was using this promo code, I would then try to keep my order as close as possible to the $24 minimum, buying something like this Toronto Raptors “We the North” youth snap back for just $24. If I was looking to buy something a bit more expensive, then I would try to use the $15 off promo code, 15off65, for orders over $65. For an order like this, you could stack two smaller items, like these Bio Domes Nintendo Bros Snapback Hats ($35), or buy one big ticket item, like this Toronto Blue Jays Nike Women’s MLB Track Jacket ($75).

If you were planning on buying any big ticket items from Sport Chek Canada over the next few days, I’d advise you to hold off on buying it just yet. The reason you should wait, unless you think that what ever it is that you have your eyes set on will sell out, is that this coming Wednesday and Thursday, May 13th-14th, Sport Chek will be hosting a Friends and Family event where you can save 25% off on regular priced items and an extra 10% off on sale items.

This Saturday, May 9th there is an event that is not only free for the whole family, but also guarantees to deliver fun activities and displays that everyone in your group will enjoy. This event is the Birthday Bash at the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto, which is celebrating their 20th birthday.

This weekend at Shoppers Drug Mart Canada, on both Saturday, May 9th and Sunday, May 10th, you can get 18,500 Optimum bonus points when you spend $75 or more on almost anything in-store. The items that won’t qualify towards your $75 minimum are the standard non-paintable items, a full list of which you can read here
You should head over the the Shoppers Drug Mart flyer for this week to see if there are any deals on products that you could buy on either Saturday or Sunday to qualify towards your $75 minimum. If you do meet the minimum of $75, then your 18,500 Optimum bonus points will provide you with $25 worth of extra money to spend at Shoppers (you won’t be able to use these points on the same qualifying purchase though).
